Webmaster Errol Posted April 6, 2022 Webmaster Share Posted April 6, 2022 One year ago this week, Soap Opera Network began reporting an abbreviated version of the daytime broadcast ratings which included just the Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 demos. A few weeks later, we were able to add back Total Viewers and Households. Therefore, this week marks the first time since the week of February 28-March 4, 2022 that we’re able to use year-to-year comparisons, albeit only for the aforementioned demographics. Comparisons for Households and Total Viewers will return in a few weeks. During the week of March 28-April 1, 2022, ABC’s “The View” (2.726 million) and CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.960 million) were the big winners week to week in Women 18-49 rating, each up +0.05. Year to year, however, both half hours of “Let’s Make a Deal” (2.551 million/2.903 million) gained the most of any daytime broadcast series, up +0.07/+0.06, respectively. The second half-hour of “Deal” and “The View” tied for sixth place in Women 18-49, each with a 0.34 rating. In Women 25-54, “The View” gained the most of any daytime broadcast series week to week, up +0.13 to a 0.50 rating with the show ranking eighth for the week in the demo. One week earlier, the talk show ranked 10th. The rest of daytime broadcast also saw increases which translated into higher than normal averages among Total Viewers for all but “Days of our Lives” (1.663 million) and “The Talk” (1.591 million). Despite minor increases week to week the two shows were on par with their recent performances among viewers. In the demos, however, each saw improvement. In fact, the NBC soap has been distancing itself from both CBS’ talk show and ABC’s “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.806 million) in both demos since returning to originals following its February Olympics hiatus and is now inching closer to its better rated soap rivals demographically. Among Total Viewers, “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Price is Right” (4.111 million/4.686 million) posted their best weekly averages since the week of February 21-25, 2022. “The Young and the Restless” (3.601 million) posted its best weekly average since the week of January 17-21, 2022, and “B&B” posted its best weekly average since the week of February 7-11, 2022. “The Talk” had its best week since the week of February 14-18, 2022. “General Hospital” (2.206 million) had its best weekly average among Total Viewers since the week of February 21-25, 2022. “GMA3: What You Need to Know” had its best weekly average among viewers since the week of January 3-7, 2022, drawing its second-largest audience of the season. Note: Viewing levels were hitting multi-year highs in 2020 during the initial shutdown of the country due to COVID-19. Year to Year comparisons among Households and Total Viewers are currently unavailable due to a gap in data being shared with Soap Opera Network one year earlier. Comparable 2020 figures for “GMA3: What Need to Know” are based on the performance of “Pandemic: What You Need to Know.” The current iteration was rebranded effective June 2020. Demos for “The Talk” are available as the show was not rated by Nielsen during the comparable week in 2021. “The View” aired reruns during the comparable week last year. Members Soapsuds
Huge jumps in numbers for The View. Those are some impressive increases even in HH. Bold and Beautiful had nice jumps as well except HH didn't go up much. I'm assuming viewers tuned in for the Sheila story.
Members Soapsuds
Might I add that all soaps went up in HH except Ron Carlivati's Days of our Lives.
