ARTICLE: Daytime Broadcast Ratings for the Week of February 14-18, 2022

After hitting a season low during the week of February 7-11, 2022, the only full week without moderator Whoopi Goldberg, ABC’s “The View” bounced back during the week of February 14-18, 2022, gaining +113,000 viewers week to week which was also the biggest week to week gain for any daytime broadcast series. For the week, “The View” averaged 2.308 million viewers.

Compared to the same week last year, “The View” was down a staggering -708,000 viewers. Only the two half hours of “The Price is Right” came close in terms of viewership losses, down -699,000 viewers year to year for the second half-hour (4.694 million vs 5.393 million) and down -639,000 viewers year to year for the first half-hour (4.152 million vs 4.791 million). 

“The Young and the Restless” led the charge in year over year gains, adding +201,000 viewers over its performance on the year ago week (3.505 million vs 3.304 million). “General Hospital” also gained viewers year to year, up +107,000 viewers (2.268 million vs 2.219 million) while “The Talk” gained +90,000 viewers year to year (1.613 million vs 1.523 million). “The Bold and the Beautiful” was the only other daytime broadcast series to show gains year to year in viewers, up +4,000 viewers (2.941 million vs 2.937 million).

“General Hospital” and “GMA3: What You Need to Know” continue outperforming their 2020 averages among Total Viewers, up +49,000 viewers and up +174,000 viewers, respectively. In the case of “GMA3,” the current iteration’s performance is compared to the performance of “GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke” which was later canceled, effective March 2020. Compared to the same week in 20201, however, “GMA3” was down -351,000 viewers (1.642 million vs 1.993 million), and was only 29,000 viewers ahead of “The Talk (1.642 million vs 1.613 million).

Demographically, “GMA3” was the hardest hit in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating year to year, down -0.25 in Women 18-49 (0.21 vs 0.38 rating) and down -0.17 in Women 25-54 (0.33 vs 0.58 rating). In fact, in Women 18-49, “GMA3” tied “The Talk” (0.21 rating) for last place and ranked last overall in Women 25-54 (0.33 rating). 

“General Hospital,” “The View,” “Let’s Make a Deal,” “TODAY 3rd Hour,” “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and “The Young and the Restless” were either flat, up or slightly down week to week in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating.

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of February 14-18, 2022 in Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their comparable performance in 2021 and 2020, respectively. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance in the demos, will be posted soon.

Note: Households and Total Viewers for “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” were not available at press time which currently skews the rankings in those categories. Comparable 2020 figures for “GMA3: What Need to Know” are based on the performance of “GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke.”

Year ago and 2020 figures for “Days of our Lives” are included for comparison purposes only even though the soap did not air as it concluded its second week on hiatus. The soap returned with all-new episodes on Monday, February 21.
