I'm a few episodes into season 2. I love it so, so much.

Some really good stuff came out of Natch's disappearance (I really hope he's not gone) like Dr. Richard trying to comfort McMurphy with silliness about golf and, despite colossal failure, continuing to try. I really liked Frankie from the first moment we saw her.  Episode 3, "Limbo", really showcased Boonie. Everybody around him sort of subtly regards him as dumb eye candy but they did an excellent job of showcasing his smarts in other ways - i.e. his black market and his crucial part in providing little luxuries that make life just that little bit easier. And, of course, it's not enough that he's devastatingly handsome, they put an emphasis on his kindness and sweetness too. K.C.'s reveal that her father used to sexually abuse her was such a devastating piece of info. MH was even more fantastic than usual. Really sad that she and Boonie came this close to breaking down the barriers between them but couldn't.

Is this show going to make me cry every episode?

Where are you watching this? I never watched it much as a child, but the opening credits with the Supremes were always breathtaking.

I bought the seasons on DVD. They are pretty cheap. I know at least the pilot is available on Dailymotion.

One of the most harrowing, beautifully done scenes in the show's history is near the end - KC getting her daughter out on one of the last helicopters to leave Saigon. This role was the performance of a career for Marg Helgenberger. It is also the main reason I stuck around to finish the show.
