The negative of having an extremely funny (borderline comedian) husband... is that I have to try so hard... to come up with something FUNNIER than him. It's my goal of life... but deep inside I know I will never even come close.

One of the best gifts that DEI has given the culture is the grace of unconscious bias.

There is no need for people to defend their apologies by stating their intentions, because their bias was not assumed to be deliberately motivated.  When a person with minority status notes that they were offended, it is an opportunity to learn more about ourselves.

It is not the worst thing in the world to be called a racist, after being raised within the culture of the prior generations.  After all, when is the last time you went to a museum and saw a painting about the beauty of gay love.  Or turned on the radio to hear a pop song about lasting same-sex relationships.  It is terrible to believe that anyone is incapable of racism, and not be willing to change.

I hate when people mock / joke around  straight men with talking about them like they are going to be kissing or hooking up... or joking that they've already done it... even if it's just made to sound like some innocent joke. I feel it's borderline homophobic... And... like to be gay is something a straight man can just laugh about... like we are lower than them, but they are acting like they don't mind... So I should be okay with it? And I've seen even people who claim to be very tolerant/supporting gay people... act like this... when in big groups/drunk. I really don't want to hear someone encourage or talk about another straight man kissing another straight man like it's some kind of a joke. THIS IS MY LIFE. IT's not a joke to me. I don't want to see your f-cking face smiling and laughing when it's quite clear these men are NOT gay and they are just mocking gay-relationships, without even realizing it... I get triggered as [!@#$%^&*].

I don't like it. Maybe it's just me... but that's IT.

I also don't like straight women who refer to me... with MY GAY best friend Maxim. YEY! YEY! YEY! Not-yey! B-tch, stop referring to me BY MY sexuality and tagging me with it in front of people who I DON'T EVEN KNOW. This has happened so many times... I can't count. I don't need people to see me like I'm some kind of an accessory to a straight woman... This is like if I was introducing her... to someone and saying - This is my straight best friend Elena... for example. Absurd. I'm not a bag... a pair of sunglasses... or even A DOG. I'm a f-cking human being. It's not cute. It doesn't make me feel included. NOT AT ALL.

Again... maybe some people don't mind. I get horribly irritated.

And I remember this one time... when a guy... with his girlfriend in the same room!!!... at a home party... asked me if I would like him to kiss me... Because he had never kissed a man... he wanted to see how he would feel (he knew I was gay from the conversation before that) and he was sure his girlfriend would just laugh. What I responded - I told him, first - I don't kiss drunk men I've met 30 minutes ago... and second... you are not my type, so I'm sorry, but... NO. And also... just because I'm gay, that doesn't mean... every man that wants to kiss me... can kiss me. No, no, no, mister. Go and try your experiments with someone else. He acted like I stole his ice cream. He was sooo sure I would do it... I saw that look in the eyes. Well. NO.

    • The thought has crossed my mind. Tricia Mann-Grant did say in her EW interview w/ MVJ and DD, that Leslie wants to be a Dupree just as bad as she wants Eva to be. I believe now that's the direction they are going in, that maybe she is just obsessed with the family. I could be wrong though.
    • True. But I have always had mixed feelings about that twist. Since I love the Damian storyline which already had twists and turns. Also I could not wait for a new powerful AND BLACK businessman to mix it up at some point with Victor. It just seem like another twist that was added on for twist sake. And also for a character (whether I love him or not) to hijack a new and refreshing storyline so they can be propped.    Once good thing that I can say about JG is that he loves to keep the Abbotts in rotation. So I could see that happening with Diane. I don't think she has mentioned her backstory, either. I would be intrigued.
    • That's how I feel. Beats could have been played for the past couple months wherein Dante and Gio interacted and had a difference of opinion -- or something. I don't know. I do know that this crushing rant that blames everything on Gio is absurd. -- Reading over all the comments here about characters and couples, it's kind of amazing that we have any show left considering the number of times actors and writers and execs were given influence to make major character and story decisions. Too many cooks in the kitchen.
    • Lol. But Jeffrey was weak to mama. Leslie can go dead because anger is a great motivator via Martin defending HIS mama and just not taking ish altogether. This ain't how it should be. They need not run the show like this. It's too noticeable. The way Eva said mama reminded me of Penny from Good Times. Instead of physical abuse it's mental abuse.
    • Oh, I see! You posted this on the general retro soap thread because of the voiceover.
    • Yeah, I agree. It's part of the reason I have shade picked on Martin's Secret being so on the backburner that it was about to fall off of it. With Dani/Bill/Hayley being the main tale to start us off and backburned and the SilkPress storyline being well paced, but not set to explode until May, Martin's Secret was the other main storyline that could have been developed. And after giving it a nice slow burn to start off, the story upped and vanished in Month 2. That left the show having to rely on mostly B/C stories to stay afloat to various degrees of success.
    • I loved those scenes, lol. I thought I was watching a stage play. But I do hear what you're saying.
    • Jason47's episode summaries clarify everything. https://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/days-daily-summaries-1990-1999-t14806-s150.html The construction company is "AJ Construction" (AJ = Adrienne+Justin).   Jencon Oil was building an oil refinery at the construction site.  This was adjacent to the park. Kirk Geiger played the character Chad Webster. The character Chad was an actor in the movie being made.   The child friend with Shawn-Douglas is his cousin Andrew Donovan. A few episodes prior, Andrew and Shawn-Douglas were at the park playing hide-and-seek. They wandered off where they shouldn't have gone, by slipping through the gate onto the construction site.  Shawn-D fell into the hole at the oil refinery. There were several episodes of trying to rescue Shawn-D.  Finally Carly rescued Shawn-D, but he was discovered to be deaf.  Andrew felt bad, but Bo and Shane both understood that it was an accident.  Carly later taught Shawn-D sign language. Shawn-D was played by Scott Groff. Andrew was played by Bradley Michael Pierce. pics here: https://web.archive.org/web/20070404163013/http://www.childrenofsalem.com/days/kids/shawnandrew/shawnandrew.html Larger context here: https://web.archive.org/web/20080614054207/http://www.bethsdayspage.com/days/riverfrontraider.htmlhttps://web.archive.org/web/20080614054207/http://www.bethsdayspage.com/days/riverfrontraider.html
    • I had a situation last week where I could watch the new episode on Paramount Plus on my laptop, but it wasn't even listed on my TV as an option.
