April 5, 201510 yr Member Ashley's paternity only would matter if John was alive because you'd get a few moving scenes of the following: John would sit a tearful Ashley down in the Abbot living room, wipe away the lone tear trickling down her cheek and say "You'll always be my beauty and nothing changes that. Nothing." as the orchestral music would swell, as Jack and Tracey stand at the top of the landing smiling through tears. * Fade to black, Senior Executive Producer William J. April 6, 201510 yr Member Adopted? That isn't even an issue. John never KNEW that Ashley wasn't his bio daughter. Dina had an affair with the golf pro and never told John. Very few people ever knew the truth about Ashley bio father. And, honestly, even if John did find out, it wouldn't have mattered at all because: 1) John was that kind of person; and 2) he and Ashley always had a strong bond. I'm not sure of the Billy speculation because Abby and Billy are 'half' nephew/niece (through Ashley) - they aren't siblings - so that bond shift isn't material to any story (unless they tried to pair them), which would be too gross for even B&B 'family bonding.' I know, I've been watching the last 25 + years, but it's not exactly a leap in logic to make the connection between this situation and adoption. The show is basically saying that if you find out you aren't biologically connected to a family you grew up in that should cause some sort of identity crisis. It's not the first time they've gone down this road either, they just did it with Summer, but at least in that case she was actually the child involved. Having this be some big deal to Abby, so that she know longer feels like an Abbott is just nonsense.

Having this be some big deal to Abby, so that she know longer feels like an Abbott is just nonsense. Are we certain they are going that route with Abby? If so, it is ludicrous - she's beyond an adult now - not some teen like Summer. Is that the real reason why they are doing this story? I must've missed something here. If that's the case, the S/L's impact is shockingly small (Abby and Billy) are the only ones directly impacted - because of Dina, nothing changes with Jack (and his kids) and Traci. What I think would be awesome is if they ended up doing a DNA test now (after all, did they even do one during the original storyline?) and that Ashley really is John's.
April 6, 201510 yr Member This is so OOC for Victor. He'd never use that against Ashley. As I keep saying, they should put a bullet in Victor and be done. The character has nowhere else to go. And that murder mystery along with Adam's arc.... +1 Horrid. Also, NOT the type of history that should be brought up (just like Lily's paternity). Why do these f-ckers ALWAYS choose the wrong stuff?). April 6, 201510 yr Member I still contend that Jack using the information against Ashley to blackmail her out of presidency was FAR WORSE because it's his sister and John. Victor using information against anyone - please that is to be expected. Ashley should've had far more resentment towards Jack over the years because of this - but, like Lily's paternity - they regretted it. I wish I remembered what kind of DNA/blood test they did, if any to verify. Honestly, it would be great if they really only took Brent's/Dina's word for it and never confirmed it.
