Anyone watch this show? I'm kinda digging it and I was pleasantly surprised to see Debbie Morgan. Omari Hardwick is a good lead. The storylines are cliched but it works for me. I'm waiting for Ghost's partner to further betray him since he's already stealing from him. I'm not feeling the relationship Ghost has with Angela since there's no chemistry and that aspect is way to predictable. I love the wife and she needs to be the wildcard. The show need to play a few more unpredictable beats. If the show fails it's because it's too damn predictable.

I only saw the free-view online. And yes, it was very clichéd and the writing was meh.

Debbi was very realistic though, in her dialogue. I really could imagine a grandmother saying those things to her granddaughter. And I get the notion that she has a tenuous relationship with her son-in-law.

Some of the relationships seem a bit iffy. I'm having difficulty believing that Ghost and his wife have been together long enough to have 3 children. In many ways they come off as a new-ish couple. Maybe backstory will be revealed in subtle ways to justify this or perhaps it would be easier to tweak the writing.

There are some aspects that have potential though. Like the relationship between Ghost and his partner (an incongruous relationship that makes me wonder just how the heck that came about?).

I guess I'm not so much interested in whether Ghost will 'hook up' with his old girlfriend. I'd be more interested in who finds out first, the other's true occupation and what happens from there, as well as how this would affects each person's image of the other.

The undercover guy who's infiltrating the organization-- I found myself wanting to know his story.

Money, I kind of see things slightly the other way around-- I feel that because Ghost gives me the inclination that he wants out, I think he's more likely to turn if approached by the authorities. I see that being a future conflict between Ghost & his wife since she is just fine with them living 'that life' and all the material benefits that it brings.

Unless, it comes to Netflix, I don't see myself watching since I don't subscribe to cable anymore and haven't for almost 4 years now.

DD, I thought Debbie was her mother and not grandmother but I could be wrong. The relationship between Ghost and his partner is the most fake to me. Maybe it's because Frank(?) has barely concealed contempt for him most of the time and their friendship rings fake. I believe he cares about him but senses that Ghost is not really into that life anymore and wants to control/use him.

His wife's (Tasha) character needs some tightening. Does she really love him in addition to the material things they have or does she just want his attention to feel appreciated? When she made the suggestion that they spread the body parts to the different gangs clearly she's just as ruthless as he is, if not more so. But the comment she made about a woman never betraying you if you give her security shows her vulnerability which makes me wonder who will cheat first.

Also, I'm having a hard time believing that she's *so* opposed to him wanting out. He has a very lucrative club with the potential for him to expand in other cities so they're making bank. And I'm pretty sure Ghost invested wisely over the years so they will still be able to maintain the lifestyle she wants.

I agree that they have way too many kids because they're both relatively young and would have happened right after highschool. And this is why his sudden temptation to sleep with Angela rings false because he's portrayed as a family man. Even his partner was surprised that he wanted to 'test the waters' since up until now he's never looked at another woman. Whatever he and Angela had as teenagers isn't comparable to the life he has now but obviously it furthers the plot along.

I guess as the series progress it will show how much Angela means to him and if he's willing to leave the biz and kids for her. Tasha wont be giving up her lifestyle and man without a fight. It's already picked up for a second season.

Oh, I meant Tasha's little girl, the one she told "No honey, that outfit isn't flattering for your figure..." or something like that. The little girl wearing the tight pink pants and the half shirt. Debbi's character really was right about that outfit though but it sounded so grandmotherly, just the way she said it. It kind of made me chuckle.

Exactly. And they have kids. Wouldn't she want a less dangerous life? The only way I would buy her not wanting out is if she believed it would somehow put their lives at even greater risk if he tried to get out. Either way, the writing needs to give some clues as to where Tasha's head is at.

And that scene in the car with the driver definitely makes me wonder who will step out on whom in Ghost & Tasha's relationship.

I recently read an interesting Opinion piece where the author surmises why he/she thinks Power got picked up so quickly despite it's somewhat tepid start (ratings). Something about the show carrying a coveted demographic that no other Starz show currently has been able to produce. So it seems as though Starz does need Power because of the diverse audience and age group that the show brings in that had been missing from the network previously.

The cast seems charismatic enough but the writing needs to tighten up, just as you mentioned. Hopefully, they'll find ways to utilize Debbi in the coming episodes. She even seems like she could be comic relief as that scene indicated.

DD, did you catch this week's episode? I get what the writers are doing by playing up Angela as his one true love since she's a law enforcer but I just don't buy it. Their kiss in the rain for everyone to see was bull.sh.it. As if Ghost would ever be that sloppy to be caught kissing another woman in public. He must have spidey sense too since he saw his Escalade roll up from the corner of his eye in the nick of time. Him buying her jewelry was predictable and cheesy. I guess he can add playa to his resume since he bought his wife diamonds too. Everytime i see Tommy I feel like taking a shower. He's just so sleazy.

I'm hope that Tasha would follow him, when he decide to go straight. Or at least go to school to get her degree in business or being a lawyer or something. This way she'll be to busy to cheat & might have him thinking she's cheating.

I really want their marriage to work out.

Mo, I want their marriage to work out too. I thought the show was going to center around their marriage and how he deals with the two facets of his life. It's now become about him wanting out and he finding solace in his mistress who wants him to become a better man.

DD, I can't even remember the second episode but I did catch the latest. Angie and Ghost had sex against a wall after she tried returning the necklace. Tasha has become a full blown nag who's all about him remaining a gangsta so she can keep the life they got. Ghost now dismisses her every time she's in the room and she has decided to use Shawn by stringing him along to get info out of him so she can keep tabs on what Ghost is doing. Ghost and Tommy still don't know which gang got the jump on them and Tommy has found a girl who is every bit his equal (drugs, hard sex, and good times).

On the Next episode preview, Ghost asked Shawn if he can trust him with his life after Ghost escorts Angela to the back of his Escalade. Shawn now knows he has a mistress. Apparently Ghost has no problem with PDA's.

Hope Debbie Morgan's role expands.

50 Cent Vows to Quit Power Over Golden Globe Snub: 'Kanan Must Die'

“I’m on the move again,” he wrote. “Golden Globe’s can s–k a d–k. I accept my series Power was not intended to be a signature show for the network, but it is the highest-rated show.”
