When I was young, I would get so angry at the Baroness for chasing Maria away whenever I watched The Sound of Music, but when I got older I appreciated how classy and stylish the Baroness was even though she was not too fond of the children. I felt for her as she dumped the Captain before he ended it with her. Eleanor Parker gave the role nuance that could have been the classic villain.

Rest in peace, Eleanor.

I remember her for her Oscar-nominated work in Caged, a tough, depressing movie about a ladies' prison (Agnes Moorehead is also very good in the film).
