I disagree there because asexual as Martha may have been she was good as Belle and a great chemistry with JKJ, Jason Cook, & Brandon Beemer. Brandon played the role of Shawn well and his chemistry with Alfonso was great. I think the characters grew up and got better.

The only suspense there was around Brandon and Martha's Shawn and Belle was if they would finally get together or not -- which was something that stemmed from their previous portrayers. The investment was in Belle and Shawn's coupling. There seemed to be little interest in the characters outside of their relationship, which was one that was birthed from Cook and Storms initial chemistry and coming of age stories. Once they were finally together and their consistent derailment via Phillip was over their story was finished. The maturation of the characters was no where near as poignant for the audience as the initial first love story arc. There was no real investment in Shawn or Belle as individuals under the recasts. The money was in them sailing off in the ocean happily ever after, and that was fulfilled. Even Phillip as a character felt tired after their storyline, though he was able to dribble out some more story for a few years before eventually being replaced by Brady.

I don't mind if the characters return, but I would want better actors. KS and JC are still bad actors from the bits I saw of them on GH while Martha and Beemer had no charisma.

I'm shocked nobody wants Charity Rahmer back lol
