It sounds mostly like he was asked to talk about the right way to play gay roles, more than coming out. He doesn't give the impression he was ever in. Then DC ran with it as some headline for page views.

*Exactly* It's not a big deal, but I find it a bit disingenuous when it's an actor who has always lived that part of his life openly and been honest about it, while never making it a big "look at me" deal.

It bothers me mostly because that comments section has people essentially belittling him for even saying he's gay.

There is always so much talk about the right way or wrong way to come out, but the truth is, any way you come out, you are damned for it, whether by bigots, or by other GLBT people who need to talk about how mentioning it at all is showboating or opportunism.
