Members DramatistDreamer
I know this is a bit premature since neither AMC nor OLTL have debuted but I pose this question now because 1) I might forget later on and 2) I anticipate this being an ongoing discussion but I wonder what everyone's thoughts are on whether they think the new versions will in any way present a challenge to the current crop of soaps on Daytime TV? Granted, they are on completely different media and are not competing but AMC and OLTL are getting a lot of buzz right now. I know Y&R and GH are also getting attention for anniversaries but AMC and OLTL are being spoken of with words like new, fresh, cutting edge, pushing the envelope, sexy, daring. It just make me wonder whether shows like Y&R may be feel the pressure of trying to be a bit more unique in the types of stories they tell, knowing that AMC and OLTL have the novelty of having once been a traditional soap now in a relatively new medium. What do you think? I know this is early on but any thoughts yet?
Members allmc2008
I can see P&G noticing soaps ARE profitable and either relaunching GL and ATWT or creating new soaps. Heck, I can see them rebooting EON and TD (Was that P&G?)!
