Members DRW50
It actually started a few days ago. http://blog.sfgate.com/hottopics/2013/02/26/content-pirates-beware-%E2%80%98six-strikes%E2%80%99-plan-launching/ There's a lot of info out there on reactions to the plan, but few details on the plan itself. There's some fear this will eventually be used to stop anything that is seen as infringing, even gifs. Members Ryan Chamberlain
Does it mean we cannot watch anything online that is copyrighted. Or, does it mean we just cannot download and upload? This is bullshit either way though. It's taking away the freedom that the internet has given us. Members AdelaideCate007
It says its focusing on P2P systems, which means it affects you if you download from torrents or use something like BitTorrent to run downloads.
Members DRW50
That's right. For now, it's just P2P. People are worried it will expand to more, because it's so vague.
Members Ryan Chamberlain
Thank God. I can still watch GH and Perfect Strangers online...for now. I'm kinda worried it will expand too. It seems like that damn SOPA and PIPA crap under a different name.
Members AdelaideCate007
Does the US not already have internet censorship laws? They have a list of overseas websites that are blocked here on a "black list". They were trying to get some sort of web filter made into law but the government dropped that. Members JackPeyton
We do have internet censorship laws but they are not that enforced, really. I understand the need for them. It sucks as fan but it is what it is.
Members ~bl~
This kind of stuff bothers me, because of the possibility that it will be expanded. I don't want it to get to the point, that we can't discuss anything copyrighted anywhere except via official channels.
