February 4, 201313 yr Member This is the place where I will post any "vintage" articles (I know, 10-15 years ago isn't exactly vintage!), from UK and Australian soaps over the years. I didn't want to clutter up the main active threads, so I thought one main thread would be a good idea. If anyone wants to contribute, feel free to do so. If anyone is interested in a particular show, leave a comment, or PM me, and I'll see if I can full fill your request.
February 4, 201313 yr Member Thanks for doing this. I was going to last week and misplaced my magazines (the whopping two or three I have).
February 6, 201313 yr Author Member Carl. I actually thought you had more than that from the way you were talking.
February 15, 201313 yr Author Member Here's a few charting the turbulent times of doomed Australian soap, Breakers.
February 16, 201312 yr Author Member I didn't know the BBC censored gay content. I think it had something to do with the timeslot. And this was the late 90s. I'm not a fan of airing a show in a timeslot that requires it to be censored - why not air it at a more appropriate time?
February 16, 201312 yr Member Thanks. John Michie plays the flop Karl on Corrie doesn't he? Tony Booth again. I hear that name so much. He was, of course, married to Pat Phoenix, and is Cherie Blair's father. This show sounds dull but I wish I could see some of it. How arrogant to claim you'll be on for 25 years.
February 16, 201312 yr Member Top articles in this thread really take me back ... The Simon/Tony/Tiffany/Grant story was epic. Years before American soaps would come anywhere close to that level of storyline for gay characters. Also, Blossom! Alan! Sanjay! Kathy! Grant looking super young. John Michie does play Corrie's Karl - what a pointless character. I didn't even realize it was him, until you mentioned it. LOL. I'm sure Tony Booth also appeared in Crossroads, too - the reboot, I mean. Although, I could be making that up? I don't know why anyone thought a show set in a market would be at all exciting. Also, Blossom! Alan! Sanjay! Kathy! Grant looking super young. I'm glad you like them. I love that period from EE... or, I just loved the characters. In comparison to what the show is like today, the 90s seem like a fairytale.
