August 29, 20169 yr Member I agree. I try to watch all the daily soaps in English: the 4 from US, the 4 from UK, Neighbours, Home and Away, Shortland Street and I just added Fair City from Ireland. Don't think I will watch Red Rock and River City as they are weekly soaps.

Don't think I will watch Red Rock and River City as they are weekly soaps. With the recent news of Red Rock only having a one hour episode per week, it's now much more in line with shows like Casualty or Holby City. So I really wouldn't consider it a true soap opera at all anymore.
August 30, 20169 yr Member Both the now-defunct Glenroe (the Emmerdale of Ireland) and Fair City aired on my local PBS station in NY-Ch 31, which no longer exists. It was also the first station in my area to air EastEnders and on Sunday nights at 7 pm they would also air Japanese soaps, which were all limited series. One of them starred an incredibly charismatic actor who I instantly recognized walking in the theatre district with friends of his a few years after it ran. I stopped to tell him how much I enjoyed his work. He and his friends looked genuinely taken aback, which I guess was to be expected. Edited August 30, 20169 yr by TimWil
