This will cause Carly to re-evaluate her past. Sonny's mental illness and suicide make her realize that she should have valued her adoptive family more. She visits Virginia (her adoptive mother)'s grave and says she is sorry. She then goes back to Florida and finds her Aunt Roberta, Virginia's sister. Roberta wants nothing to do with her. When Carly finds out that Roberta is sick, she asks her to move to Port Charles so that Carly can take care of her.

Roberta initially refuses, but eventually says she has nobody else and agrees. She has two children that she is estranged from, and no other family. Roberta returns to Port Charles with Carly. Carly goes to introduce Bobbie to Roberta, and is shocked that they seem to already know each other. Roberta was one of the girls that lived in the brothel with Bobbie! This also causes Bobbie to take a journey into her past life...

But really I would use it as an opportunity to really bring the Spencer family together. Once these wounds are re-opened for Bobbie, she begins having nightmares. In the nightmares, she is a little girl and is reliving the abuse she faced from her father. She knows only Luke will understand, but even Luke is worried about Bobbie. He feels like she is hiding something from him. The family, including Liz, begins to realize that Bobbie is slipping further and further into a dark place, and they try to help her, but she refuses.

After weeks of the nightmares and unsuccessful visits with Dr. Keenan, she asks Carly to accompany her to the brothel in Florida. The fire Lulu set had failed to burn it down, and only caused minimal damage. She walks into the brothel and begins reliving every moment of horror that she faced there. Being in the brothel also causes her to flashback to her childhood once more. Bobbie has a realization while at the brothel, but won't tell Carly what it is.

When she gets back to Port Charles, Bobbie visits Luke. She is visibly shaken and tells Luke she has remembered something she had blacked out for many years. As a little girl, her father had not only physically abused her...He had sexually abused her.

So Sonny is Cuban pretending to be Greek and now he owns an Italian restaurant where he probably pretends he's Italian. Nothing messed-up about any of that.

a DID element actually did cross my mind because for someone like Bobbie, DID would make sense. But I thought it was a sore subject around here, lol.
