Members Scotty
I had almost forgotten about the old Hoosier Millionaire game show. They used to show it on WDRB in Louisville in addition to the stations across the river in Indiana. It was fun to watch.
Members MissLlanviewPA
I have an old clip of a HM promo from late 1990, complete with Tommy James & the Shondells "Mony Mony" playing in the background. Another tape from 1989 has a promo for the show's premiere. I probably should post some more DC/Baltimore areas..you know., where I actually live now . Members quartermainefan
One of the most famous radio stations ever was 1130 AM WNEW in New York. It created the disc jockey, the concept of news at the hour, 24 hour radio, and eventually became a standards station showcasing the music of Sinatra and the like. In the 90s Bloomberg bought it and WNEW died, to be replaced by a news station. This is the last few minutes of the station where the DJ played some jingles before signing off with a goodbye song. <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/OQRSgFq-8pM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Members Max
I just found out that WNBC chose not to renew Sue Simmons' contract (she was making $5,000,000 per year) after spending thirty-two years with the station. June 15 was her last day on the job. (Sue and her long-time anchor partner, Chuck Scarborough, are/were the highest paid local anchors in the country.) Here are some 1980's clips that feature a really great theme & opening that WNBC used at the time: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/zG35nGhidbA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/-vm3XxqO3IA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> By the way, Don Pardo was Live at Five's announcer.
