Keith Olbermann Fired Again!

After being terminated from MSNBC, Keith Olbermann landed a gig at Al Gore's Current TV. Now, after being there for less than twelve months, he has been fired again:

Back when MSNBC dismissed him, I seem to recall a lot of people saying that he was fired for being too liberal (or for being "too truthful"). However, if one reads the above article, it appears that the man (regardless of his politics) is simply a selfish pain in the a$$ to work with. For instance, he missed 19 of 41 work days during the months of January and February, and he refused to host Current TV's coverage of the Iowa caucuses because he was upset about the fact that he was going to be paired with a co-anchor.

I don't think it is a secret that he is a very surly man. For a few years, I really loved Countdown (when it was on MSNBC and still think Ed Schultz is a serious step down) but he can be seriously grating at times.

I agree with a lot of Olbermann's positions but I have no doubt that he's a pain in the ass to work with. Of course if he was a conservative working at Fox News then he could be a sexually harassing, drug addicted, pathological liar and he would still be employed.

Delia and Marceline, your posts are so refreshing. Relatively few people are willing to admit that somebody is a jerk even if said individual happens to hold political views that one likes.

While Bill O'Reilly is a major jerk, I didn't know he had a drug addiction. (And Rush Limbaugh is not employed by Fox News.)

Given that he settled the sexual harassment lawsuit out of court, that (to me) implies that he is indeed guilty of such behavior. However, if we are to be consistent, Bill Clinton must also be guilty of his sexual wrongdoings with Paula Jones since he settled with her as well.

Shoot, he'd run the network. I think the first thing that is asked of any conservative whether they be on tv, radio or in print is "How well can you lie with a straight face?" Now Keith getting fired is his fault. How many times now does this make where he wore out his welcome at a network? It can't continue to be everyone else's fault. But, I have noticed even with him and other liberal commentators, if they screw up royally, they do have a tendacy to accept their garbage and atone for it. You NEVER hear a conservative do that. And by the SLIGHT chance you do, it is because it has gotten so out of hand that they have absolutely no choice.

Keith needs to grow up and stop acting like a damn two year old.

I never heard that. Was is when he was working at ESPN?

Does Fox News ever do corrections? I mean, even minor ones?

Yeah, he's crazy passionate and I certainly wish other liberals were more outspoken but sometimes he gets into this zone where he bocomes hysterical. That's what I like about Rachel Maddow, she can get angry but she ALWAYS backs it up with evidence. She lays out stuff like CSI.
