Why didn't AMC do anything this fun [...] in it's final days?

AMC's final days and weeks were half-hearted in more ways than one.

To be fair, this type of self-parody is more OLTL's bag. They're hit or miss with it, a lot of groan-worthy stuff (usually from David), but then a good Mia Korf joke tickles (they've met their quota on those though). I think this sounds like a lot of fun.

The LAUGHNOWHAHA stuff usually ends up blurring lines - I think the ha ha stuff with gay marriage opponents is one of the reasons ABC yanked the story (although most likely that was going to go no matter what), and they also seemed on the verge of making jokes out of a stillbirth, a father giving his daughter ECT and trying to rape her, and then there was the comedy genius of a blind nun being stripped and tied up.

This sounds like simple fun, hopefully with some heart (if RC cares about writing that anymore - I haven't seen it in years). It's a nice way for OLTL to go out, and a nice exit for Bo too. I liked him best at Fraternity Row.

I'll give them props for this, but in no universe should AMC have been expected to come up with something like this.

True, but aside from Carol Burnett's brief return, nothing about AMC's final days was reminiscent of happier, campier times.

What!? Aside from the JR stuff, and the random Erica/Jack cliffhanger, everyone got some kind of happy ending or happy continuation. The final episode mainly centered on a party where we got engagements and pregnancy announcements galore and Joe/Ruth moving back to Pine Valley, etc. If that's not happy, then I don't know what is...

Nah, even that [!@#$%^&*] felt forced, IMO.
