Apart from the regular interruptions of the Watergate Hearings, all shows were being written by non-union writers, so it likely had a bigger impact on the shows at this point. I think this will be the case through early August.

And there might be other factors, but maybe P&G just brought in really bad writers, lol. I'd say having non-union writers leads to instability and possibly disgruntled viewers. The kids being home for summer and possibly preferring ABC/NBC shows might be a factor too.

To be fair except ATWT, none of the other CBS soaps were doing spectacular numbers between 71 - 75. I wonder if the generational shift was initially heading more towards ABC and NBC. 

CBS didn't manage to regain more than one show in the top 5 until the 75/76 season.

      Really frustrating show today: -- I agree with others that Leslie has made far too many visits to Ted's hotel room. Why would he entertain a thing she said? -- More plot convenience: Kat walking in Ted's hotel room without knocking just so she can catch them having some contact. -- I don't mind Jacob and Kat confronting Mona, but they'd better get to Shanice in a New York minute. -- In no universe was Dani the victor in those scenes with Hayley and Bill. She made a complete fool of herself -- again. She had a couple good lines, but they were lost because she's already lost the plot. Breaking into someone's house will not garner sympathy for her. -- Even if Hayley isn't pregnant, Dani will never be the winner in those scenes. Why not let the months ahead take care of that? -- Dani pulled her "I'm a Dupree" at Uptown, and it was as obnoxious as it sounds. -- I never thought that back room was the full casino. Regardless, it's always looked cheap and ugly. -- Vanessa is for the streets. I'm sorry, the woman is trash. -- Do I want to see Joey and Vanessa having sex on a poker table in a back room at a casino? I do not. -- Actually, I don't want to see Joey and Vanessa having sex anywhere.

      But it's from a viewpoint of I didn't watch back then so it didn't happen lol.  It's really not a huge deal.  We generally share the same views.  But ignoring big plot holes doesn't make it a good story because actors are doing great work.  I actually mentioned you had a good point about fallout.

      It felt very hoary long before Reva had it. I forgot Bill got it too. A shame Michelle wasn't around to share tips on how to cope with temporary blindness.

      I have updated this list with the following info: 5/29/25 UPDATE: Now that we know the "long" commentary (during the morning & afternoon sessions) listed on Vanderbilt for October 1973 is incorrect, I am adding these updates for 9/24, 9/25, 9/26: These are the time frames listed on Vanderbilt between the morning & afternoon sessions, so these shows likely aired on these dates (the only ones to air on the networks specifically these days): 9/24/73 ABC 1222-2PM All My Children, Split Second & Let's Make a Deal 9/25/73 NBC 1213-2PM Who, What or Where Game & Three on a Match (Jeopardy possibly from 1215-1230PM) 9/26/73 CBS 1233-2PM: Search for Tomorrow (1235-1PM) & As the World Turns
