I think Dusty left on her own. I'm not sure. Steve got married (South Africa's first TV gay wedding) and moved away with his partner.

How long has Lolly been around, exactly? It seems like quite a while.

Did Len ever actually have relationships with any men, or is this just something which was said?

Now that they have looped back I am reminded of what a strong presence Ashley Callie had. I can't imagine how fans felt when she died.

The only downside of looping back is the incredibly depressing story about Farrow and her brother.

I really like Farrow a lot. I don't understand why the show fired her. She's the perfect soap character.

For some reason, I'd forgotten all about Steve getting married. The last I remember was him and Dusty getting engaged but then they kept postponing it and putting it off. That was all going on while I was on a holiday visiting my family, so I guess the Steve stuff happened after that.

I think Len's relationships were just talked about and implied.

Lolly has been around since at least the late 90s.

Losing Ashley Callie and Leone definitely left a hole in the show. I definitely really hit the show hard.

Did Farrow kill her brother? I vaguely remember that. I agree they should have not gotten rid of her. Her exit was depressing too.

I think she did kill him, yes.

What was her exit? I know she was in some schemes, and she left on a plane, but don't know the rest.

I think they should have kept people like Farrow and Nadipha, instead of clearing them out.

I think the woman who played Maggie quit because of a contract issue.

Cape Town – Isidingo, the weekday soap on SABC3 which just turned 14 years old, will soon become a special miniseries.

Isidingo will be a miniseries as the show shifts to one specific storyline filmed entirely on location while Endemol SA and the SABC work on finding new studio space and rebuilding sets after the devastating fire on 13 June.

Endemol and SABC3 have not confirmed when the new miniseries will start airing on TV.

The fire, which engulfed Henley Studios at the SABC's Auckland Park headquarters, completely destroyed the Isidingo set housed in Studio 6, although some of the sets in Studio 7 survived.

A sound control room, vision control booth, recording light control desk, video wall, vision mixing bed and cabling running through the entire studio complex were destroyed.

After multiple enquiries more than a month since the destructive fire, which also took SABC3 off the air for some time, the SABC still refuses to give an estimated value of the damage done to the Henley Studios, or Isidingo specifically.

Estimates run into millions of rands.

Now the soap will once again become a miniseries - for the third time in the show's history - and for at least a month to be broadcast in primetime on SABC3.

New storyline to replace daily shows

Where the two previous Isidingo miniseries ran concurrently during the December festive period as additional episodes to the daily soap broadcast, the new miniseries will effectively replace the daily broadcasts with a newly developed storyline shot on location.

Although a more expensive option than in-studio filming, the new Isidingo miniseries will give the production time to regroup and rebuild before the show returns to its familiar studio format.

Endemol SA and SABC3 also plan to have a media session to present the way forward in terms of storyline and studios.

"The fire has set the production into a different course; the cast and crew are optimistic that the new storylines are going to make for great television," Endemol SA told Channel24.

"Our 14th birthday will be celebrated towards the end of the year as the fire has disrupted all our plans. However, we are excited as plans are going ahead to celebrate this important milestone with our viewers."

Wow. I hadn't read about the show lately. I had no idea there was a fire. Was everything destroyed?

It seems like most of the sets were destroyed. I think the miniseries is only temporary.. I hope they can regroup and restore the show.

That's awful. I haven't seen any episodes from after 2008, and I know it went through major changes after that time, but much of the 2007-2008 episodes are fantastic.

I've only seen episodes that have been shown on the Africa Channel but I'm always impressed by stories and some of the acting too. I think Leone was a wonderful character.

Yes, she was. Normally that type of character would be unbearable but she somehow manages to be likeable as the ice queen with a heart.

My favorites were Farrow, and Ma Agnes. Agnes is the heart of the show, yet you never forget her anger or pain under all that wisdom. Farrow is the type of damaged quasi-heroine soaps in the US no longer try for.

I can't believe some of the stories they got away with, like the one where Barker made Rajesh think he'd beaten his girlfriend to death, and the horrific scenes of mental and physical torture against Lee's boyfriend Alec.

I would have liked to see more of Farrow. The storyline where Agnes's husband wanted a second wife was hard to watch but I thought it was compelling. Alec's torture was very gruesome. I was shocked that they threatened to rape that man's daughter if he didn't give up the code. I guess they push the limit in South Africa. Too bad the Africa Channel loops episodes because I'd love to see newer eps. Youtube barely has anything.

I don't think I've ever seen the second wife story (I saw when she came back later when their child was dying). I wish I had seen it, as apparently Agnes went insane and tried to poison him.

I liked the short story where she ran for city council, and we saw her praying on what to do.

I also liked Paul. I wonder what story they had planned for him and Maggie's poser niece, as that seemed to be curtailed due to the actor leaving the show.

I would have really liked to see that full story. I used to watch the marathon every Sunday but I got frustrated whenever it would jump to some other point in time. I remember being excited because Cherel was about to announce something on her talk show that would sabotage Barker. Then the next episode was something completely different so I never got to see the rest. Cherel is a hilariously wicked character, like Dorian but without as many layers. I think one of the first stories was Cherel killing Barker's son, Duncan. I would have loved to see that.

There are a lot of these covers on Facebook. Pretty cool that they have a separate issue for English and Afrikaans. The covers from 2011 looked really clustered but the last several issues look sleek. Much more appealing than soap rags in the US
