All this early 90s talk reminds me how smitten I was with Sloan as a teenager lol.

I simply adore him. My favorite male right now on the show. ❤️ Second is Jason.

May I say how much I enjoy your thoughts about this era? In Greece we got to watch episodes starting with Marty's rape.

Oh, this truly brings a smile on my face. ❤️ I was just thinking today how I need to end my break and dive back into the show. I want to complete 1992 OLTL before returning to AMC. I had previously binge-watched 2 seasons of AMC in the beginning of the year and needed some time off, but now I'm ready for another go.

And... I had no idea OLTL was broadcast in Greece. That's incredible. How many seasons did it run there? Was it successful? I recently discovered that AMC only aired for a few months in Bulgaria... my home country... they were positioned as a competitor to Bold on another channel, but Bold was such a massive success... that AMC didn't even stand a chance. The show was pulled from the schedule very fast.

I had no idea that Laura Bonarrigo Koffman was on AW before her time on AW. She was on AW in 1991 shortly before she started her tenure on OLTL. I don't think her role lasted very long.

Her role on AW as non-contract. OLTL offered her a contract which she took. At AW they recast the role. Although it was non-contract, story was written for that character, and it still needed to be played out.

Thanks for the information. I had no idea she had even been on AW. It was nice to see her on AW. Ii've always liked her as an actress.

We only got to see about a year. It was not a success and of course I was furious when it was cancelled. Back in the 90s every network wanted a soap to compete with B&B. Only Y&R and Santa Barbara were really successful and were broadcast here for many years.

Ah... yes... the European curse of The Bold And The Beautiful. 😁 We allegedly had empty streets (my grandma used to tell me) when the show was airing the first seasons.

Returning to the subject of OLTL... It's truly unfortunate that it lasted only 1 year in Greece. At least now... many years later, we have YouTube and the old VHS-rips... that allow viewers to pick up where the show left off.

"Viki Buchanan and The God Complex."

Hey there, fellow Llanview lovers! Guess who's back? After a little break spent diving into thriller novels and other fun stuff... I realized I really missed my favorite hobby - OLTL❤️

🔷

Let's kick things off with the absolute worst so I can stop thinking about it. I'm removing at least 2 points for this. Luna Moody and Max Holden are now part of the cringiest "Friday the 13th" remake ever. Of course... I KNEW IT... Suede was just a poor innocent soul, while the real villain... is... the BIG BAD WOLF...  COP. Now our damsel in distress (who won't stop talking to herself while also hiding from a killer) is having a telepathic conversation with the hero - Max. She is sending him clues to where he can locate her... while he is in a skimpy macho-tank top. That's how tacky porn films start, y'all. Seriously, can someone explain how the same show that usually writes complex psychological drama... and deals with nuanced characters... is now presenting this laughable... campy... over-the-top... parody of a horror flick?  THE CRINGE when Luna was sending Max visual images through TELEPATHY. A bad look for the whole show IMO. Finally something really negative. It can't be all roses and unicorns.

🔷

Now... here's something a little easier to digest, even though it's still NOT GOOD. I'll remove 1 point for this as well. So, Mortimer has managed to escape the HOUSE OF SEX, which is essentially Tonja Walker overacting as Alex Olanov, who is trying to basically fu-ck him in front of his elderly mother. And where does he find himself? In the Buchanan palace, naturally... and Oh, my... what a twist - he runs into Carlo's ONE TRUE LOVE - Renee. And VOILA... Mortimer is feeling something arise in his pants and his tough-guy persona is beginning to... surface. GIVE ME A BREAK. I want this nonsense to END NOW.

🔷

I mentioned that I would start from the worst and move to the best... so please bear with me. Now, this is something BETTER finally. Dorian Lord is taking legal steps to remove Addie from Asa's residence. She has the support of Kevin and Asa, even though Asa is pretending to be innocent in front of Blair. A doctor is scheduled to visit, and this appointment will determine whether Addie will be placed in a mental institution or not. To help her mother calm down and stop repeating that "Asa is going to take their baby"... Blair did something risky - she revealed the truth to Agatha - SHE IS NOT PREGNANT! Wow... this could backfire quickly.

🔷

Now let's dive into the most exciting part. Victoria Buchanan, who might soon not even be a Buchanan anymore... is behaving like a completely different woman. She is not herself. And this isn't about a split identity... it's about divided loyalty. She is caught between two men... and has embarked on a path of self-sabotage. For some reason, I feel like this woman wants her marriage to fail. So what has she chosen to do? Naturally, she is playing a God-like role to the foolish Leanne, who is desperately pleading to see her child. Now, Mother Teresa is sneaking behind Clint and Kevin's backs, taking Duke to his mother's apartment. While she waits downstairs... however... Sloan appeared like a phantom. Oh... I forgot to mention - Victoria has become a master of deception. She is deceiving Clint about her afternoon plans - she and Renee concocted this bizarre story about how Renee needed Victoria's support after learning about Blair's pregnancy. So now... picture the shock and horror when Viki saw Bo... staring at her and Sloan in the café. Explain this now, Viki. MESS. BUT THE MOST FASCINATING kind of mess. My heart races in suspense about how ALL this will unfold. I want Viki and Sloan to be together so badly.

 Overall -  7/10

Great to see your mini-reviews again @Maxim . I never sat through most of the Luna/Max saga of this time but your description makes me laugh. Ditto for Mortimer, which I did watch more of. Such a waste of Thom Christopher. At least they realized how lovely Pat Elliott was here.

The Viki clip is great. I'd say I don't believe rich people would be so dumb as to eat where they can be caught but then I remember the Coldplay concert. Rich people sometimes are so shielded they have no common sense.

Yeeees. And of course subconsciously I think part of them wants to get caught. 😁

Three of the ladies of Llanview on this pretty neat cover. Sorry for the quality, but that's it. Taken during the commercials of an episode I'm watching right now.

"Love or... gaslight?"

🔷

I really hate it when my job interferes with my favorite soap operas. It feels like I haven't been in Llanview at all this week.

 🔷

The Viki-Clint unraveling is making a surprising twist... in terms of who I root for. I'm starting to understand Clint's perspective more and more. Viki's entire demeanor and her attempts to escape responsibility (about lying), trying to shift the blame onto him... even referring to him as "his father" (I recalled how @DRW50 talked about the show painting Clint as "young Asa" in this moment.)... crossed a line into gaslighting. I once had an ex who behaved similarly, believing he could do anything and then twist the narrative to make it seem like I was the one who misunderstood or provoked him. I recognize the patterns. Despite my fondness for Victoria (and me wanting her and Sloan together)... she is revealing a dark aspect of her personality again. Her tendencies to distort reality in pursuit of always being right... are somewhat narcissistic. Moreover, she truly is a master at delicate gaslighting and manipulation.  The episode ended with a soapy twist - Clint overheard her talking with someone on the phone. Unaware that it was Leanne... he assumed it was Sloan. It's all so messy.

 🔷

Addie successfully fooled the psychiatrist but in true soap opera style, she couldn't pull the wool over Cain's eyes. He did a few circus tricks and got her to admit that Blair isn't really pregnant. But here's the twist - just as he was about to reveal this to Asa, something held Cain back. Hmm. Then there's Tina (who I honestly forget is even part of this show at this point, as the writers seem to have completely put her in a corner), starting to question whether Cain is actually trying to protect or defend Blair. He denied it. WAY TOO MUCH. Perhaps we are heading in the direction I initially suspected. Could this be the start of a Cain-Blair romance or a Cain-Blair partnership? Poor Tina, she's been used and discarded by so many characters... it's truly sad.

 🔷

Talking about sad... I must address the state of Luna Moody's character. Introduced in such an artificial manner (she literally parachuted into Llanview with a ridiculous backstory, and we were supposed to embrace her), she represented some sort of female independence and maybe even feminism... (wasn't she the one always urging Tina to stand up to Cord and not let him control her?) Yet, she has now transformed into the complete opposite of what she once stood for. She has become a stereotypical damsel in distress, relying on two muscular machos (who look like they escaped from 90s porn... gay porn to be exact) to rescue her from the big bad wolf. WOOF. Writers, you really dropped the ball on this one. SHAME. SHAME. SHAME.

 🔷

This leads me to the most absurd twist I've ever seen in a soap opera. Well... perhaps not the absolute worst, but it was undeniably IDIOTIC. While being held at gunpoint... Luna Moody seemed to have an almost supernatural intuition... that the evil cop's gun was EMPTY. 😂 Isn't it fascinating when the Universe sends you signals like that? I mean... in reality, that's often referred to as schizophrenia... but in the world of soap operas, it's just considered normal. So, she had this feeling that his gun was empty and began to approach him... and then... VOILA, the gun was indeed empty... the evil cop fled, and Max beat him until he fell into the water. Then, the semi-muscular porn actor in a tank top came over and embraced our damsel Luna... all while Suede looked in the corner. This is precisely how threesome porn movies begin, y'all.

 🔷

And now, for the grand finale... talking about sexy time... we witnessed something truly HOT - Sheila and Hank shared a passionate love scene that felt remarkably authentic. This leads me only one thought. When soap operas feature these romantic moments, it often signals that a significant TROUBLE is on the horizon. The couple will inevitably face an opponent or someone who wants to break them up. We all know who that person is, don't we? Nora! Let me just say that I've been slowly falling in love with Valarie Pettiford that I hope is now getting the storyline she deserves. We need her front and center. Give Luna and Max to the dogs (meaning don't give them so much story) and give all that attention to Sheila, please!

Overall -  8.5/10 -  I'm giving them more than they deserve (it's more like 6), because I love this show so much.

@Maxim Thanks again. Great clip. Such layered work from Clint Ritchie, Erika too. Both are in the wrong and in the right.

Your description of the Luna story cracks me up.
