"You can't escape LOVE."

🔷

Here we go again, my fellow Llanview lovers! After a binge last night... I’ve officially entered October 1992. One whole year of OLTL is behind me, and I can’t help but feel thankful to my friend who made me watch the show.  🌹

🔷

Victoria and Clint are back on the scene, but so is their broken relationship. Consumed by jealousy, Clint is acting almost unrecognizable (at least from what I’ve seen in the past year) - he’s perpetually angry, bitter, and ready to snap at Viki every sentence she utters. Meanwhile, she seems to be drifting further away from him. It’s like her body is there in Llanfair, but her soul is somewhere else. And we all know where that is, don’t we? She wasted no time before reconnecting with her “friend” Sloan. It’s clear she’s trying to set some boundaries, where friendship ends and... well, something that is FORBIDDEN... begins. Erika Slezak has once again shown us why she has so many Emmys. We watched Victoria put on a show in front of Sloan, trying to convince him... and herself that she has no feelings. But those eyes... chico... they never lie.

🔷

Speaking of women in love... Dorian Lord was having a catharsis... watching Jason sacrifice himself for Leanne in the courtroom. He pleaded guilty, unable to humiliate or blame Leanne. Dorian was hit with all the beautiful memories she shared with Jason. It seems like her fight for him might be coming to an end. Or is it? Knowing how chaotic Leanne can be... it might just be her own doing that sets Jason free for Dorian in the future. We’ll have to wait and see. But for now, Jason is off to spend 90 days in jail. Long enough for Leanne to get knocked up by someone else, if you ask me.

🔷

Guess who’s back? Andrew and Cassie! Dorian Lord’s operation “Love birds” is in full swing... and it’s working! These two can’t keep their hands off each other... There was this delightful sexy scene with Ravel’s Bolero playing in the background. It’s refreshing to see Andrew in these normal guy moments... He's been given such intense, dramatic material that his presence had started to feel quite dark. But hey, it's refreshing to see him just being a regular guy in love. Cassie is like a girl smiling from ear to ear... Just a few months back, I thought these two had zero chemistry... Now I'm totally on board. The reverend and the good girl, with a hint of taboo.

🔷

And let’s not forget... Nora Gannon has officially landed in Llanview. Sheila had this charming scene in the hospital... when this bossy... all over the place... woman asked for a pill for her migraine, completely oblivious that she was speaking with her ex’s new girlfriend. Am I sensing a feud in the works? I’m loving Nora so far. This could stir so much drama for Rachel and Kevin. And Sheila and Hank of course.

🔷

Oh, and let me make this an official announcement. October 1, 1992 - the day I finally saw Josh Griffith's name next to Michael Malone. So far he was always in the next shot.

"Homophobia in Llanfair."

🔷

Honestly, I've reached the point where I can no longer excuse Clint's behavior. I refuse to tolerate homophobes, now and ever. What triggered me? Well... Clint once again spoke about Billy as if he were inferior to others... as if he were some sort of disease that could infect his own son. He basically said he didn't want a gay boy to stay in his home. IMO, they've completely ruined his character. He has become one of the antagonists, and I can hardly stand to look at him. Furthermore, his lack of trust in Viki, treating her like some borderline whore who needs to watch her actions... Jesus Christ! This woman is being pushed to her limits. I'm not saying Viki is blameless in this situation... she initiated the whole mess with Sloan... but Clint is making it so much easier for her to eventually - CHEAT.

🔷

Kevin, also known as Asa Jr., has once again indulged his grandfather's sadistic tendencies. We all know the reason behind it - he was full of jealousy after witnessing Leanne and Jason kiss and make out in the courtroom. Now he wants to punish her, and he's done it in a way that would please Asa - they've issued a restraining order that will prevent Leanne from ever seeing her son again. Leanne's attempt to speak with Kevin was interrupted by raging Asa, who seemed delighted by her apparent suffering. Then, as the family gathered around little Duke... a shocking announcement shook Llanfair. The scene with Leanne observing from the window outside was very Young and the Restless-like. I'm beginning to truly feel Josh Griffith's influence as co-head writer.

🔷

Driven by Cain's threatening behavior and Tina's blackmail, Blair has decided to stage a bizarre fake pregnancy. At least, that's my interpretation. We all witnessed her taking her pill consistently. She is doing this to get Cain and Tina off her back... and perhaps then also fake a miscarriage to blame Cain for it. Blair is capable of anything... It's a classic soap opera scenario that I adore, and I can't wait to see how they pull it off. Blair remains one of the most compelling and intriguing characters in this soap. I can't believe they recast her with a blond white woman. I really can't.

🔷

I didn't want to comment on this, but I can't ignore it any longer. Luna and Suede's storyline has taken a very dark turn.  He is now behaving like a deranged criminal, pointing a gun at her after assaulting a police officer. If they attempt to redeem this character after this... we'll have issues. I won't forget this moment... as I hate this sort of violence against women. Poor Luna exemplifies the saying that no good deed goes unpunished. She welcomed this man into her life, and he has taken full advantage of her kindness!

🔷

Nora Gannon is gradually immersing herself in the chaos of Llanview. She is listening and observing, a clever little fox, as far as I can tell... and she seems particularly intrigued by Rachel's relationship with Kevin Buchanan. The protective mother bear instinct is strong... perhaps even bordering on controlling... making this dynamic very messy. Mother-daughter conflicts are among my favorite soap opera relationships to dive into. I'm here for it.

P.S And let's not forget - Bo Buchanan, the p-ssy of Llanview, is also back in town. But thankfully, no Sarah... thank goodness. That bland drug addict was so basic and uninteresting. I hope we never see her again.

Overall -  10+/10 - these past few episodes have been written perfectly. Even Cain and Tina are rootable again. The cartoon stuff is at 0. I hope they KEEP THIS UP!

All I know is that supposedly the network made them cut Kirk for being too short. I just find it crazy they had these young guys in the role and then went out and got Armstrong, who was already playing teens a decade prior. He came off like Nazi Kevin.

When they cast Nathan Fillion as Joey, he towered over Kirk Geiger (who was playing the OLDER brother). At the time Geiger, then Armstrong was let go, the EP at the time said they needed to cast Kevin Buchanan as a drop dead gorgeous leading man. Hence hiring a model, which was a mistake, because he couldn't act. Then they settled on Kevin Stapleton

Fun fact - Kirk Geiger auditioned for the part of Dylan on 90210

It really was such a short-sighted decision to fire an actor just because another actor was taller. Typical ABC by that point. And of course they later let Stapleton, one of the only somewhat popular Kevins, get fired by JFP for a pal of hers that viewers hated.

Thanks for the great clips @Maxim I don't think I've said before that I appreciate you also having longer clips and sharing those on Youtube.

I still don't know how they saw any way back for Viki/Clint after this.

As for Sloan, I'm not ever sure how to feel. I do think he is sincere in his love for Viki, but the comparisons to Victor also add to the manipulative air around him.

I'm very happy that you like the clips. 😊 I am always doubting myself if I picked the right scene to highlight. I want to post longer videos, but I also don't want to overwhelm people with too much.

And... my God you are correct about his manipulative nature (Sloan)! He's been doing this since the day he met her. I remember telling my husband - come and look there is this new character... and it's an older male homewrecker. He is such a fox! That's how I described him... I didn't even know what would happen back then. But still... I can't deny that chemistry. And I experience a certain escapism like guilty pleasure feeling watching Viki slip up and... do forbidden things. ❤️

Allegedly LB also had issues with him. I know she was very unhappy Kevin Stapleton was let go, but I seem to recall hearing it was more than that.

"Let the WAR... BEGIN."

🔷

If we believed that Sloan will take this one sitting down... we were very wrong. He's a very... very manipulative... clever man. He knew that using the pretext of working on Victor Lord's biography will open the gates of Llanfair. Then as soon as he was in... all the bets were off. He did everything he could to entice Victoria's mind. He literally brought her to tears. She was having trouble resisting him and the beauty of it is that it's not some gigolo seducing with his pecs or triceps - it's his mind that Victoria is drawn to. Yet another comparison to her father in attempt to open up her heart and make her more vulnerable. I reminded myself of what @DRW50 said about him days ago. This man is cunning. AND I LOVE IT.

🔷

Cassie and Andrew decided to return the favor to Dorian and help... bring her closer to Blair. It was amusing to see these two women take small steps toward each other while still struggling to communicate. Blair attempted to win Dorian over with praise and asking for forgiveness, but when she realized it wasn't effective, she began to dangle her sister in front of her like a prize. "Let's be friends, and I'll allow you to see your sister." Blair, darling, you should have figured out by now that Dorian becomes very upset when she is blackmailed or manipulated in that way. I love that we are seeing these two interact again... their feud-chemistry is off the charts, and the entire show becomes energized and full of spark when they clash.

🔷

Later... In Asa's manor, the atmosphere was even crazier than usual. Addie overheard the news of Blair's fake pregnancy and became too animated. This led to a confrontation with Asa, nearly a physical one... with Dorian Lord stepping in that exact moment... to observe the toxic environment her sister seems to be living in. The little progress the Cramer women had made... was completely reversed. I believe Blair reminds Dorian of her younger self, which is why she is so triggered by everything Blair says or does. Dorian lacks trust because she recognizes herself IN HER.

🔷

Back in Llanfair... something totally unexpected went down. I've been waiting for this... for months. Clint finally faced off his rival - Sloan. The tension and the back-and-forth made me scream out loud! That's the drama I want to see. The stakes are high! We're talking family, Viki's reputation, and... most importantly - her heart. Sloan didn't back down, he was serving Brooke Logan in her most savage mode.  I can't believe I'm typing this down. I am not saying Sloan is Brooke, but in that particular moment... he reminded me of her smugness when she talks to a rival. I think this is the first time I'm seeing a storyline where the "homewrecker" is a silver fox in his 50s. And this time I could really feel for Clint too - he was raw and DIRECT in how he dealt with his opponent. And I appreciated that. LET THE WAR BEGIN!

🔷

Last, but not least... Max was acting in the role of investigator, going around door to door looking for Luna and Suede. In the end her reached the man's sister... who told him the sinister story about her brother's pathological obsession with women and one women in particular... which resulted in her death. Now the clock is ticking, because the same fate may be awaiting Luna. Max, the hero... is on the journey to save her. Not my favorite storyline, but it's not THAT bad either. We've seen similar stuff done to death on soaps.

Overall -  8.5/10 (The Max scenes were not that interesting to me.)

Clint versus Sloan. FINALY all the cards are on the table.

Thanks @Maxim. Some wonderful dialogue in that clip, especially Clint's dig about Sloan's "sherry hour." And I am always here for a well-placed use of "a tinker's damn."

I don't often agree with the show's claims over the years that Clint was a young Asa, but I can see it by the end of this segment.

What are people's thoughts about the opening going from Tour of Llanview to this?  LOL - it's so jarring, and I know what they were trying to do, but this opening seems like an AI-generated output when asked to create a "romantic soap opera theme". It just had no personality and doesn't match what you're watching @Maxim.  I loved what they did after this though. And I would love this opening if it was something different, like some primetime soap opera or something haha.

It's always been controversial at best, lol. I never had an issue with it since it was my first opening, but I get why people were bemused.

Gottlieb had intended it to be about the cycle of life or love, from birth and romance (even consummation - the bursting champagne bottle!) to death I think.

I do not like it. It's softcore material. It's also so generic. OLTL had many unique openings. Even their most generic openings up to that time felt special to the show. The second is actually my favorite OLTL opening, even though this video will blow out your eardrums:

I know it's unpopular opinion, but that opening is one of my favorites ever. The music itself is amazing and unforgettable... It's my current ringtone on my phone, probably won't be changed for decade to go. About the visuals... I like them too and I think they actually fit in the themes and style of the show. The previous one, although catchy... was like a sitcom opening, too upbeat and positive. This one is more closer to the show's dramatic... darker style. So yeah... Different strokes for different folks. This intro is a winner for me.

Yeeeees. It was a great dig, and very appropriate one! :D Clint is difficult to hate in these moments, when he is real and raw. They should have kept him jealous without making him a homophobe too.

One thing I don't like about this storyline is how fast Sloan seemed to go from terminally ill to recovering and in remission. Maybe he is lying about being in remission, which will resolve this issue for me. But it literally changed in the span of 2-3 episodes.

So interesting the various opinions on the openings! :)  @Maxim - agree on the Tour of Llanview being a little too sitcom, as catchy as it is, but it felt like Llanview to me. I think a few of the other soaps had more 'sitcom' style, catchy intros there in the 80s/early 90s (GL, AW come to mind).

But I do always prefer an opening with characters in them.
