If you want satire and comedy then "Soap" would be a better choice than "Passions"

Not my cup of tea. I forgot to mention I like paranormal/supernatural/gothic/sci-fi soaps. That’s what drew me in when I first heard about the show. That’s why I like Days: the possession, buried alive, Princess Gina, the microchip in Vivian’s tooth, Dr. Rolf’s back from the dead serum, etc.

My other favorite soaps are Sunset Beach and Port Charles because they also embraced the supernatural. It helped that JER was storyline consultant for Sunset Beach in 1998.

I’ve seen some Dark Shadows and liked it too.

Here, my experience is so different but I'm almost positive that I watched the show in real time & you have only seen it on YouTube. I was suitably entranced with both Bill & Mickey. Marie & her love for Alex & her vocation were galvanizing stories to me. Addie was such a huge character. Loved the actress. She got in Julie's way with Doug so often & irritatingly. Then of course her illness, being Hope's mother, on & on. Sandy & Jessica, I gotta give you those two. But teen Melissa was huge. Lisa Trusel could walk in the room right now & I would want to sit & talk to her. The teens that made up so much story were Melissa & Hope & Jenn.

I would argue the issue with Melissa was never LT, but the show's inability to find a suitable love interest for her.  In an era when supercouples reigned supreme she never had a pairing (besides Pete) that caught on at all.

Jessica was dull from start to finish though lol.

Even her battles with DID read as dull, and that's saying something, lol!

So dull.  Her story sounds so exciting on paper and then you watch her and her and Josh and you are like zzzzzzzzzzzzz....  Nick was the most exciting thing to come out of that.

There was Pete Jannings & then there was that guy, the dancer, what was his name? And, don't look at me on Jessica. I don't see anyone sticking up for her. Not me. Hard pass. 🤣🤣 I guess it's not great if I can't remember that tall drink's name, huh? 🙃

Lordy, lol!

But at least we know who Nick's parents were.  I'm still trying to figure out who fathered Nathan, lol.

I wonder if they were going to try to connect Nathan's father to someone on the canvas or bring his father on later, but nope.  I guess we will never know.  I wasn't even clear if Melissa was still married to Nathan's father or if he had siblings either.

Hopefully Melissa and Pete reconnected offscreen like Valerie and David did to conceive Eli.

Melissa was shown pregnant with Nathan when she returned for Bo and Hope’s wedding in 1996.

I agree.  I could be wrong, but I don't think Mark Hapka/Nathan was very popular, so the fact that Nathan hasn't been mentioned at all since he left Salem likely guarantees that we'll never see him or Melissa again.

They didn’t bring Lisa Trusel back for Rogers’ 50th anniversary so they clearly aren’t interested.

I think Nathan was pretty popular.  Wasn't Hapka a bit of a problem though?  Again, I don't know if we were ever clear if Nathan was an only child, so perhaps a brother or sister could show up.  Since Nathan went by the last name Horton I would assume Melissa and his father aren't together still though.

I thought he was very popular. But, there was something ...

I can't recall why I thought Hapka was a problem.  I think he was fired and trashed his character or the show or something?  It may not have been anything serious, but I don't think either side walked away with happy feelings after his stint.

And now look where he is: lucky to get a part in a movie on LMN.

Yeah, that really backfired for him lol.  I think he was up for a few soap roles that didn't pan out either.   Too bad.  I thought he was pretty good.  Nathan would be a better blast from the past ex for Stephanie than Everett these days.
