The Gutierriezes (much like The Hodges) were a relative success.

Raul & Diego (offensive recast & all) did most of the work but the parents were around a good 2 1/2 years.

They were more Santos than Santi. :lol:

They were around in that they barely appeared and didn't do anything of significance.

I wish there were a clearer definition of what constitutes a "family" on a show.

They were around in that they played fairly significant parts (albeit recurring) in both of their sons lives & only disappeared when Y&R fired Greg Vaughan.

But there's a difference between a soap family succeeding or failing cause the characters weren't working or the HW loses interest.

I think there needs to be at least 3 members who are around for a significant amount of time, and preferably at least 2 generations. I dont count 2 people as much of a family.
