Now I normally don't like college football, but I have many friends who go to Penn State and play on the team. I am glad Penn won. Almost 5 [!@#$%^&*] hours of playing time. It took 4 quarters plus 3 overtimes for Penn State to pull out the victory. Great stuff.

I was in ATL, so I wasnt able to watch any of the game. But my brother kept calling me on the ride home, guess what just happened and giving me 30 minute updates. I really love JoePa, the man is almost 80 and has so much passion and energy. He is also 7-1 against Bowden. I am glad PSU won.

About the title game, please someone beat USC. I hate USC with a passion. I think most people outisde of California are rooting for Texas, I know I am at least.

I think Texas is going to come out swinging. For the past two weeks, ESPN has been fawning over USC like they've already won the game, and have been comparing them to national champions of the past. Either they know something we don't or they're in for a big surprise. I think the Horns are going to hook'em.

That game was RIDICULOUS!

As Kirk knows, I live in Pa and am a huge Penn State fan. :) I really have no choice though, it's definitely a family/regional thing.

Definitely going down as one of the most memorable and intense games I've ever seen!

Well, USC has the better stories. 34(?) straight wins, 2 straight national titles, 2 straight Heismen winners, Bush will be the #1 pick in the draft, Leinart maybe #2, USC has the hollywood stars.....I mean what isn't there to fawn over? LOL

GO USC!

Discipline himself from what? He doesn't make any mistakes. He won the Rose Bowl two years in a row and was the MVP for both games. He now has a national championship. He played the best game of his life. He has the hype.

If he leaves Texas, Houston will have a tough decision. Houston's needs a running back so badly, but Houston fans will want Vince Young.

I'm getting the impression that Young is headed for the NFL. Wasn't he staying for sure a couple of months ago, and now he needs to sit down and talk it out with his parents? I dunno, seems like he's inclined to go.

As a USC student, I'm more than a little bummed, but Texas outplayed them. Oh well. [!@#$%^&*] happens.

I do love how, going into this game, USC was "the greatest college team of all time" and Matt Leinart was "the best quarterback in the history of college football." Now Vince Young and Texas are THE BESTEST EVAH. Media hyperbole kills me.

Actually next year the NFL is going to make a rule or at least hold a meeting where rookies dont make near as much because so many veterans are !@#$%^&*]ing that the rookies are making so much money without proving anything. This is the year for all juniors in college to come out or the few that have a chance as a top 10 pick. I listen to sports radio constantly and the last few days they have talked about this a lot.

So with Vince Young playing one of the best games ever in a title game, he is sure to be a top pick over Leinart and possibly Bush. I would hate to make that decision, Bush or Young(if he decides to leave early).

How I feel....mark my words Matt L. will be just an average QB in the NFL. If I were a GM I would have Matt as the #4 QB behind Vince Young, Jay Cutler out of Vandy, Brady Quinn out of Notre Dame, and then Matt. I also hate how smug Matt is, his comments after the game pissed me off. Well Matt the game isnt over until the fat lady sings, so know you didnt have the game won. I do agree though that USC is still the better team, and USC has one of the most talented offenses I have ever seen in college. Matt still played one hell of a game and I will definitely give him that, but he has a kick ass offensive line, great receivers, and possibly 2 of the best running backs in all of college football. I just think Leinert will be an average NFL QB, especially if he goes to the Saints or any team that doesnt have a good O-line, because he isnt mobile enough.

I am foaming at the mouth because the Titans have the 3rd pick in the draft this year, and hopefully Bush or Young will still be there. I will be pissed if the Titans draft Matt!

Kudos to Texas, finally ending the USC 34 game win streak. Also thanks to ESPN for hyping up USC so much, because that gave Texas plenty to thrive on, being disrespected all month while ESPN constantly talked about USC and saying which teams in the past could stop this team, in reality it was Texas who was way overlooked by many. I am an SEC fan, so I dont like Texas but hell I am a fan of anybody who can deflate USC at least for a moment.

    • I skimmed some of the 1982 synopses; Steve was planning on an opening an office in Finland, and I think Jim went there as part of the preparation.
    • That makes sense. What a messy time for the show. And any changes they made were mostly for the worse.
    • The transition from Neal to Adam was very abrupt, and to be honest my theory is that the character of Neal was designed so that we think he is super shady but then it turns out that he was on the side of good all along so Neal could have seamlessly become a hero of the BCPD with no need for Adam. I don't know whether Robert Lupone was hired on a short contract or if he was fired from a longer-term contract because they decided they wanted someone who was more of a leading man type, but I can imagine a scenario where Charles Grant did both the undercover Egyptian treasure/flirt with Victoria and the straighter-arrow day to day police investigation. But in my imagined scenario the MJ prostitution plotline probably doesn't exist and instead he probably continues a relationship with Victoria. The story seems very odd to me. I assume that David Canary would have been included only because a plotline where Steve is going to Finland in which only Rachel is seen in actual Finland seems unlikely. The synopses explicitly mention that Alice can't go with Steve but would whoever was playing Alice at that time have had the kind of clout to get the remote cancelled? It also strikes me as unlikely that production would have approved the expensive location shoot and *then* cancelled it only because of jealousy. It seems more likely that they rejected it because of the expense but then the jealousy part got added to the gossip speculatively, possibly because while it was being worked out they justified not including more castmembers because of the expense.
    • My comment has nothing to do with cast resentment, but does relate to the Finland location shoot: It may be a coincidence, but Jim Matthews died in Finland in 1982.  Hugh Marlowe's final episode was in April 1982, but the character probably didn't die untll May or June. (I'm unable to find the character's date of death, only the date of Marlowe's final episode). SInce Jim and Rachel had very little interaction after around 1975, it is unlikely Jim's death in Finland had any connection to Rachel's potential visit, but the choice to have Jim die in that location at that time is a head-scratcher.  I'm sure the writers sent Jim on an extended trip (and off-screen) because of Marlowe's illness.  But Finland seems like a strange choice considering the (then) recently cancelled location shoot.
    • I totally understand your sloths concern about it and I agree with you. Let’s hope the show plays it’s cards right.    Further comments about the last few episodes: - I liked that one of the attendees was filming the scene. That’s realistic. I wonder if the writers will follow up with that.  - Martin and Smitty trying to drag Leslie out was very heteronormative, so perfectly in line with them two as characters lol.    As for the future: it’s obvious the Duprees will come to accept Eva one way or another, but the rivalry with Kay should be here for the long term   On the topic of acting: the only bad actors I’m seeing are Ted and Derek. Tomas hasn’t proven to be either good or bad, so far, but he’s certainly mediocre and uncharismatic. He sucks the energy out of the scenes and I don’t see any couple of women ever vying for him.
    • I’m trying to think which actors VW were working with at the time, and none of them had been there for a while. Even like Mac and Ada didn’t have that big of a part in Rachel’s storyline.  And Jamie was involved with all that movie stuff.
    • Brooke did ads before ATWT too. That probably helped get her the job. After ATWT she seemed to branch more into hosting, along with ads.  I think I saw Kelley in an ad or two, but you're right she wasn't on as much.
    •   Thanks for sharing these. I wonder if Charles might have been in the running for Adam. I know Preacher was a bit of a bad boy at times on EON, but Neal seemed to be a step down, and Robert Lupone had played a similar part on AMC. Given the huge cast turnover at this point I wonder who thought they had been there long enough to go.  Laura Malone/Chris Rich would get a remote within the next year.
    • Interesting.  It seems to allude to that statement that Warren Burton made around that time about some AW actors getting special treatment.  I wonder who was resentful about not getting to go.
    • Good morning, boys!  I figured that it was time that our Gio was introduced into the hotness thread
