January 25, 201015 yr Member Sandra Bullock.....Oscar Winner.....just sounds weird. LOL I'm happy that's she gaining all this momentum though. Haven't seen The Blind Side yet, but I just love her from Speed, The Net, A Time To Kill, While You Were Sleeping, Practical Magic, Forces of Nature, Two Weeks Notice, Crash. Bullock has had a nice resume of decent films, but she has also had some really bad ones too IMO.... Its nice to see her finally being able to showcase her dramatic talents. I saw The Blind Side and thought she was very good and brought something to the table she had never done before. I'd be ok with her winning, its still just a very odd concept to me haha.
January 25, 201015 yr Member ^Agreed, I thought she was good in The Blind Side, but nothing really outstanding. But again, such a weak award season for films and performances, I'm not upset about her walking away with an Oscar. The actress I was really impressed with this award season was Carey Mulligan in An Education, but no way in hell is she going to be winning with such a small film and so little buzz, and considering it's her first role as a lead actress, her odds aren't great to begin with. I'm just happy she's getting some of the major nominations this award season. Edited January 26, 201015 yr by Y&RWorldTurner

The only thing that hurts The Hurt Locker is its very minuscule haul at the box office. I totally agree though, far superior film. Alot can be said what Kathryn Bigelow was able to achieve with The Hurt Locker on a fraction of the budget behind the largely CGI Avatar. The Hurt Locker was a great film.
January 31, 201015 yr Author Administrator Kathryn Bigalow won the DGA! Looks like the anti-Avatar people will be very happy come Oscar night.
January 31, 201015 yr Member Kathryn Bigalow is also the first woman to win this award. Congrats to her and well deserved!

February 22, 201015 yr Member I'm so happy for Kathryn Bigelow and The Hurt Locker, and the added dimension is that Bigelow is one of James Cameron's ex-wives. LOL! She managed to put out a better film with almost no money, and she's making history as the first female director to win all these awards. Next stop, the Academy Awards, where The Hurt Locker should dominate too. Oh. and I'm glad Carey Mulligan at least got some recognition for her performance in An Education at the BAFTA's. Best female performance of the year, IMO. Edited February 22, 201015 yr by Y&RWorldTurner
February 22, 201015 yr Member Bigelow and Firth. That made him happy. And I'm glad Horner lost. Bigelow is shooting another film with Boal.

March 3, 201015 yr Member A co-producer of the low-budget Iraq war drama The Hurt Locker has been barred from this weekend's Oscar ceremony for denigrating the film's main rival for the Best Picture award. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that Nicolas Chartier was being banned from Sunday’s awards show for "violating Academy campaigning standards" by sending e-mails to voters disparaging the 3D blockbuster Avatar. The decision means that if, as widely expected, The Hurt Locker triumphs, the Frenchman will not be able to take to the stage at the Kodak Theater to accept his statuette beside the film’s three other producers but would have to pick it up at a later date. http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/film/oscars/article7047897.ece
