That kid wasn't actually Cassie's biological child, was he? Wasn't he Alonzo's son, and that's why Cassie let him take the kid back to San Cristobel? Or something?

Wasn't there a claim on here that Cassie was intended to be a major rival for Reva but Kim wanted them to not be at odds? @DRW50  I don't recall that, but I can see Kim saying that. Especially after the Annie stuff. Of course, it would've been more interesting if Reva had a sister who couldn't stand her...but what Kim wanted, Kim got a lot of the time. At least, according to the rumor mill.

Oh, and in that case, Rauch wasn't wrong. ****ressa fans got the endless damsel in distress plots, which ultimately (I believe) backfired and made Matt expendable when Maeve left. **** fans could've had their empty-headed lout ****toy for years.

You're right.

If the show had stayed on then bringing him back older and not just the psycho killer might have been interesting.

God...Jonathan Randall 3.0? *shivers at the thought*

I don't think it would have to be that extreme, although given what GL was by then...

I don't feel sympathy for the Dinah fans at all.  Now they know how it feels when a character you like is used to look like an idiot to prop up another (Roger for me).

What is even funnier is that Roger stayed with Amanda longer than any woman he's ever been with and they didn't even bother with a love story with them after Michael Zaslow was fired.

It also was pathetic how the healthy New Roger spent barely any time with his Grandchildren after Michael Zaslow was fired. That's something I really liked with Roger...he truly loved his Grandchildren and they showed it.

The show wasted an opportunity for a better relationship between him and Bridget.  I think bringing Nola back was a mistake as it took away from Bridget.

BTW, for a rich woman, Amanda wore the same outfits so many times, it was sad. Amanda was such a wasted character and it didn't get any better when they brought in Victoria.

I didn't watch it, but I read how well GH did their farewell to Monica and it shows how a show should do a farewell to an actor that was so part of the show's history.

I didn't need to see Roger dote on his grandchildren. It would've ended up just like his kids--either his excuse to run rampant trying to build a "legacy" for them or a way for him to manipulate people. He could declare his love for his kids/grandkids all day long and twice on Sunday---he wasn't capable of love.

And speaking of, the fact Cassie named her kid with Hart Roger Joshua is just stupid. Hart hated his father. (To be honest, I'm assuming it was born after Hart died, but I'm not sure.) If they wanted to have a kid with going by "RJ", she could've named it for Rusty (Russell), her brother.)

I don't think Nola's presence hurt Bridget. I think Bridget literally outlasted everyone she interacted with from the time she arrived in town. They were either fired, left, or in the process of leaving. And the IIC failed to move her into other stories with other characters. Literally, from the time Bridget arrived, Maureen and Nadine died, Hart was recast at least three times, Julie, Kat and David left (and that recast was unsuccessful), Ed and Vanessa are floating in and out of town, Dylan (the only guy who really dug her) left, Michelle was recast, and Roger was recast and then left town.

The failure to relaunch Nola certainly didn't help (and ****  and J certainly wasn't strong enough characters to help anchor the Reardons in town again). But there should've been story for Bridget for eons. The Vanessa/Bridget/Roger angle alone should've been a gold mine. And imagine Bridget and Dinah going hammer and tongs not over Hart, but for Vanessa's approval. That Bridget never got a serious love interest (uhm, Dylan isn't exactly a chem machine) is a travesty.

I'm pretty sure Hart was still alive. I seem to recall Cassie suggesting the name to Hart. (I thought to myself, "Name a kid after Roger? That is the craziest suggestion I've ever heard!")

Which goes back to the stupid baby naming ideas that plagued the show as far back as the Marland years. They didn't have to name practically every kid after somebody. Was this one going to end up named "J," too, if the show had lasted longer?

Have the parents look through a baby name book and pick a name they like! Yeesh.

@DeeVee That reminds me how Clarissa was named after Holly, because that character in Blake's novel was based on Holly.  Also, Leah Bauer was a combination of Rick's mom Leslie and Mel's mom Felicia.

IIRC, Cassie gave birth to RJ in a car during a blizzard, right around the holidays.

I'll post my detailed recaps later, but this clone storyline is so stupid. It's actually an interesting idea, but you can tell as it plays out they've had to quickly write in and explain/answer questions that come up that makes this whole thing seem very implausible. It feels like they've gotten so much pushback to the point where one episode, this happens:

The clone wants to go to Genoa City because a soap opera, Y&R, is based there and she wants to meet Mrs. Chancellor, but Cassie/Josh tell her it’s not real and just a soap opera that Billy and Wanda used to watch on their lunch break LOL. Josh has to tell her not everything you see on TV is real.

I wonder why they added that in there - publicity for Y&R or because they got so much backlash on this story not being realistic? My guess is the latter and that was their way of telling the audience to just go with it LOL.

They also made the Reva clone so annoying and selfish that it makes me not like Reva anymore. It's like they found the worst qualities in her and amplified them in the clone.

One saving grace, the shirtless island man with the real Reva is great eye candy haha.

I remember it that way, too.

Oh, heck, I thought Clarissa was a GL baby who got her own name and wasn't named after anyone else. And Leah, too!

Now I'm wondering about other kids on the show that weren't obviously named after someone. I recall Harley naming her kid with Rick Jude after the Beatles song "Hey, Jude" and we already discussed Beth and Alan's kid Peyton (though her middle name is after Alexandra).

LOL, Reva's island guy was one of my mom's many, many soap crushes.

Sounds like a trainwreck. But you are telling it so funny... I almost want to watch it.  ❤️ 😂

Upon reflection, RJ must've been born before Hart died. I think Cassie gave birth with Dinah's assistance?

It started before Marland. Although I think Alan-Michael is clever. Some poor schmuck almost doomed Rick as Freddy/Frederick.

The only kids who escaped fate were those given up for adoption. Dinah, Dylan, Daisy/Susan.

I think you're right.

Didn't Dinah do exactly the same for Harley when she had Daisy? Helped her give birth in a car? She missed her calling as a midwife. 😂

Yep. Strange coinkydink--or yet another case of some writer not knowing history.

Poor Hillary---no one ever had the urge to name a kid after her. *wahh wahmp*

I'm sure that I am in the minority (as I am with most things) but I don't mind the names Fred, Freddy or Frederick. I like them all a lot more than the name "Rick".
