Wow. That's highly cringey. I'm glad I missed that dialogue when it aired. How long does it take to research the cuisine of a country? That kind of sloppy writing just annoys me.

Unfortunately, this was pretty common. If you're going to have a major story based in a real place, a little bit of research should be no big deal.

No, HB didn't find out that Reva was working for Alan until after Billy and Vanessa got married. After B&V got married, Reva and Josh went to Cross Creek and he proposed. They made that announcement and HB confronted her privately and gave her 2 weeks to tell Josh. That was like midMarch.

Thanks for clearing that up. I saw that not long ago. Must be watching too many GL timelines simultaneously. 😁

Its like how corporations or hospitals are run, its not too hard to do some research...(such as, Mindy most likely could not have gotten into a signed in computer and changed Nick's DNA...Cedars was one big lawsuit waiting to happen...) I know you have to suspend reality but don't make it sloppy.

You could write a book on this kind of thing that soaps would do to advance stories. How about Calla walking up to the nurses' desk, getting into the computer, and erasing Dinah's blood type. In front of the whole freakin' hospital!

Breen is good, but why make Will Venezuelan and not hire a hispanic actor to play him?

I have often wondered if that was changed. If Will was originally not supposed to be Sonni's partner in crime, but merely Josh's sounding board.

Watching Breen and Forbes (who I believe is partly Latina, but not necessarily a Spanish speaker) stumbling over saying "Guillermo" will never not be funny to me.

LOTS of people didn't/don't like Kyle/Malloy, but I think the canvas could have withstood two powerful men, especially since Kyle was entrenched with the Lewises. They could have had a Josh/Reva/Kyle triangle and kept Alan out of Reva's orbit.

It was likely a money thing or Malloy didn't want to share the spotlight or both.

To this day I am still shocked and bitter at the wasted opportunity that was a Josh/Kyle conflict. They shared the grand total of ONE SCENE together...just one. Yes Larkin was leaving but they should have planned it out better to up the drama of the two men verses each other and Billy caught in the middle. What a missed opportunity.

That is surprising they only had one scene together. But, I wonder what they would do if they did? Josh loved to yell and bellow, but he doesn't seem like a good fighter. Heck, even Harley punched him in the eye!  So funny.

@alwaysAMC I finally found the picture, but it's not on the cover, it's inside the magazine and of course, I don't know which magazine and what date it came out.  LOL

@P.J. There are even worse ones!  There's one with Reva talking in a southern accent talking about how she is still married to Billy and how funny it was telling his fiancé, Vanessa. She's wearing a fur coat to boot!

So ridiculous!

Vanessa should've cleaned her clock. I love tempermental Van!

It was so cringy! It wouldn't make me want to watch.

I am watching the 1988 German dubbed episodes.  I am sort of skipping around, but am so confused on how Alexandra even thought of marrying HB.  How the actress playing Mindy had NO chemistry with Will. How Alan could tolerate even living with Reva.

Yeah...its like they didn't know who to put Alex with so that was a misfire. Perhaps they needed a new character. About  Mindy and Will...the thing is...at least in my opinion...there was that brief time when he lost his memory and actually became a good and dare I say likeable character and that version and Mindy I kind of like. Of course they ruined it by having him get his memory back, shave his beard and become evil again and then just plain crazy.

I don't think anyone understand the HB/Alex relationship.

Mindy/Will seems really forced.

Sex.

Does anyone know why Bev was gone from about mid-May of '89 to October? It was double her usual eight week vacation.

To this day, it is stunning to me that they had so much trouble finding a decent pairing for Alex/Bev. Yeah, there was MZ, but I had a hard time buying it. Simon showed she was susceptible to grifters, but Roger had caused too many problems for her family.

I just watched the episode where Will knocked Josh into freezing water to kill him and do not understand how this character remained on the show past the big Sonni/Solita reveal, never mind why they put him with Mindy.

Ha-ha, I have to disagree with @P.J.here. Alan was getting plenty of sex. He had his rent-a-whore Elise, Vanessa (before she left) who I would assume was a much hotter number in bed than Reva, and could have boinked a lot of other women if he chose to. (This is the same guy who decided NOT to have sex with the very willing India; proof he was not lacking opportunities for sex).

No, no, friends, Pam Long was determined to convince us that Reva was the one and only love of Alan's life. Which went against the character's history and all common sense. Yeah, love is a funny thing, but no matter who played Alan opposite KZ, it was never believable that he was wildly in love with her.

I was watching the scene where Alan bought Victorian clothes so he and Reva could ice skate and live out some kind of romanticfantasy. SO out of character for Alan. He never did anything like that with any other woman, even when he was deeply in love with Hope. But we're supposed to believe he would do it for Reva because she was The One. 🙄

5-6 minutes into this you get the very funny fight scene with Josh and Kelly. It gets funnier any time I watch.

i'm not sure they even seriously tried to find Bev a love interest, even in stable times (which we know GL did not have in the "80's). In one way I understand some of it, Alex's issues with her father left her unable to trust most men. But after the transactional relationship with Warren, they really should've tried harder to find someone other than HB. Although he is completely non-threatening, and maybe someone she could trust.

The writer's strike had a lot to do with keeping Will on the show. I've forgotten nearly all of the twists and turns, but I think Long always intended for Will to be a villain. (Let's face it, nearly every outsider who came into their lives ended up "the villian".) Maybe losing Chris Bernau added into the equation too.

LOL...let's put it this way---imo, Vanessa would've made every guy think he was the best she'd ever had. Across the tracks, every guy is hoping to bang Josh out of Reva's mind.

I didn't exactly mean that Alan lacked for sex, but more that pursuing and nailing Reva was addictive for him. So much so, he ignores all of Vanessa's protests and warnings about how it'll affect their potential relationship. And Alex's. And he doesn't see the signs that Phillip's setting him up for a fall.

I'm not sure I'd agree Alan never indulged a woman her fantasies. He bought Hope an island. He's treating Rita like a queen, whisking her off on spur of the moment trips and illicit trysts. He made Trish into a corporate executive. I'm not sure how ice skating figures into Reva's fantasies, but he's putting some work in.

Josh is not the fighter in that family. Heck, even Trish once landed a solid punch to Ross' jaw. Josh looks like a preteen flailing helplessly. You almost expect Kelly to grab ahold of his head to keep him far enough away that he's only punching the air.

I'd say buying real estate was HIS fantasy. 😂 What I remember about Rita was he bought her expensive jewelry. That he did do with every woman, including Diane, Hope, Trish, and Reva.

I'm pretty he didn't make Trish an executive. He kept promising he would. He palmed her off on Ross for his D.A. campaign so he had an excuse not to do it. When she pressed him about it he implied she was of little use beyond being a Lewis. That's when she told him to drop dead.

LOL Thanks for the laugh!  It's funny seeing Josh so young. He got quite the shiner!

Could anyone help me with the very beginning of this clip showing Roger talking to this guy with this little boy like he knew him?

@DeeVee I thought Alan/Reva came off hilarious.  Did she really think he would be ok just living in her house?

I bought into Roger, because Alexandra made it upfront she didn't trust him. Like Roger said, he had to be a lap dog to Alexandra and it still wasn't enough.

I don't think this episode is available in English.  Go to 9 mins in and see what I mean (you have to change to English subtitiles to understand what they are saying).

LOL at the way he runs off at the end of the fight, flailing his arms. That whole thing was just bad directing/weird camera angles/cuts. Very cool location shoot though!
