For a few months. The day the strike ended was the day the big Nola/Kelly confrontation was filmed. Marland was on the line giving them the dialogue.

Originally, Alan was Alex's younger brother. Sometime during Bernau's second run, that got flipped, and he's the older brother protecting Alex from their father.

It is too bad they wasted Ariane Munker in the role of Christine Valere. She had the right look for Hope, and seemed to have chem with Chris Bernau. She had played Melinda Grey on ATWT (Barb's half-sister).

Catherine Hickland campaigned HARD for the role of Mindy after Kimberly Sims left. But Jill Farren Phelps wouldn't give her the time of day. Wouldn't even see her for an audition or reading on any kind. Instead Ann Hamilton,  then Barbara Crampton was cast.

Well, I for one am amazed. I thought that of all people I knew every single thing I dislike JFP for. Wrong! She was the idiot who caused GL to miss out on having Cat as Mindy.

Cat Hickland was too old for the role. She's older than Barbara Crampton. Yes, I know that shouldn't matter, but she'd have been more suited to play Reva than her former stepdaughter.

Only by two years - for soaps that is nothing. Plus JFP hand-picked Barbara Crampton for the role, even way before Ann Hamilton was cast. No audition was required. But Crampton got cold feet and passed. Then after Ann Hamilton was cast, Crampton had a change of heart and called JFP. No problem JFP said and within 24 hours Hamilton was out and Crampton was in.

And how many times have fans complained about age disparities between parents and children? She's only six years younger than Jordan Clarke. If JFP had wanted to cast Hickland, she could've created a new character for her. I don't think I would've minded, although I haven't seen her in much since CAPITOL. Hell, she could've been recast as Trish Lewis, and given Blake a run for Ross. Or even been tested with VI.

The point is JFP DID NOT want to cast Hickland for anything on GL. What is ironic is that JFP later cast Hickland for Lindsay Rappaport on OLTL - and her on-screen son (Jason Shane Scott) was exactly 20 years younger than her.

That was the point I was also (clumsily) trying to make. 

I don't see any difference between Barbara Crampton & Catherine Hickland on how they looked age wise back in 1994. Yet it was Crampton who was hand-picked to play Mindy who was in her late 30s, playing someone who is suppose to be in their late 20s.
