Stanley was on the show for two years and it seems he preceded Holly by a few months.Stanley was murdered late in 71. Not sure how Holly and Stanley interacted but from the type of character Stanley was I don't think it would have been a close one.

Didn't Stanley divorce Barbara early on, leaving her with 3 kids to raise?

It appears that Adam came on in 72 after Stanley died.

From what people have said I think Holly was meant to be a neurotic daddy's girl. Didn't she hate Leslie?

I wonder if this ever came back up when she and Leslie were married to Mike and Ed.

I would love to see that 1971 material, but the footage is probably gone forever. I sometimes forget Holly came from wealth. By the time she was married to Roger in the late 70's you almost get the impression she is clipping coupons and thrift shopping to take care Christina (Blake).

@alwaysAMC in case you're interested, today in 1993 was Frank and Eleni's wedding. Its in the vault 5-7-93.

Those two episodes, with Harley confronting Buzz and Nadine, along with the Peter secret busting wide open (Billy dumps Nadine and Bridget ends up kidnapping Peter,) are excellent.

May 7, 1984. Alex told Lujack that he was her son, Lesley Ann died from the Dreaming Death. Suck it, Warren Andrews you prick!

Oh very cool - thanks! )

This reminds me that in my current 1999 watch, we haven't seen Eleni since mid-March when she learned that Frank and Annie kissed. Buzz asked Frank once about Eleni in mid-May and Frank told him not to ask. That's literally it, which is so odd since it's been 4 months. You'd think there would be some resolution for Frank/Eleni. I wonder what happened behind the scenes here.

It wasn't.

Frank certainly was a himbo.

It's a shame, but I don't think Ehlers ever won an Emmy.

@alwaysAMC it just seemed apparent that tptb just had no interest in Eleni after MK left, but didn't care enough to write her out so she's basically a dayplayer.

@alwaysAMC I liked it when gl would play special music over the intro. They played going to the chapel for frank and Elena's wedding and happy days are here again for Ross's Election nightmare.

Did they do it any other times? I can't think of any.

The fact that Holly had so much money was one of the reasons Roger was so ambitious and so determined to climb the ladder at Spaulding. She had helped him out with money since they were stepsiblings. She probably also toned down her lifestyle so he would feel more like the breadwinner.

Today we can still see a quite a bit of the rape storyline and the aftermath, but not much that shows how conflicted and weak their marriage was, which lead up to it.

I would center my GL around four core families... Bauer, Spaulding, Lewises or Marler and Grant. I would merge the Grants and Bordreauxs into one family, make Vivian and Felicia siblings.

My GL would center around almost too many families: the Bauers, the Reardons, the Spauldings and Chamberlains, the Lewises and Shaynes, the Marlers, Norrises and Thorpes.

From everything that I've read, it seems like Stanley Norris and his family were a change of pace for the show. Before their arrival, GL was definitely a Midwestern soap, rooted in the middle class and not prone to telling stories about dysfunctional, real people who ended getting murdered.

That's why I tend to believe those on here who've said that Peggy, and not Holly, was the love of Roger's life, despite latter-day efforts to say otherwise.

I wish we could get footage of Deerfield and see how she played the part. I remember Deerfield quipping in a blurb in Soap Opera Digest in the 90's " I was married to the chief of staff and wore polyester".
