He should've been at the funeral. It's little things like this that can make an episode go from great to excellent. There was no excuse for him not to be there since he's going to be in the next episode. Just because Sami has Rafe now and is battling EJ, they should still keep showcasing the Sami/Lucas relationship.....you can't just diss that dynamic.

Loved EJ in this episode.

His "eulogy": I am here today to say goodbye to my daugther, Grace. Those of you who know me, know that my family means the world to me. My reason for getting up everyday is to make sure that my children are safe. The Lord, he caused us great pain but it is in his children that we his finest work. Each one is so perfect, so unique and we love them. We love them before we know them. We love them before we see them, hear them. So on this sad, sad day, Samantha and Rafe, I trust you will take some comfort in the memories that you have of my daugther - the first time that she wrapped her fist around your finger.......looked into your eyes........She is gone but you will always have those memories.....I never even held her and I have nothing. (Bravo Richard Culliton!!)

-------------------------------------

To Philip: You better learn how to control you women, Philip.

--------------------------------------

Sami: What's this?

EJ: That's the beginning.

Sami: It's court order......He's taking Johnny away from me.

EJ: Just like you took my daughter from me. An eye for an eye, Samantha.

OMG! Did this really happen? Who the heck is Alan Harris? After 20 years of not watching DAYS unless I had nothing else to watch, I am trying to re-enter viewership because two of my favorite actors are coming back. When I first started watching DAYS, Tracy Bregman was a young teen Donna Craig. And the guy that plays Roman was a totally different character, Chris Kosicheck. I've always been a Bo and Hope fan, whether they were together or not.

I don't know where to go to get caught up. I haven't watched since EJ was brought in. Last I saw, Sami and Lucas were trying to get back together. I guess I'm going to have to go to youtube to catch some backstory.

There are some clips on Youtube, although most of them are bits and pieces. Wasn't Alan obsessed with Carrie, and Sami was collateral damage? This is one of the stories that made Sami hate Carrie, wasn't it?

Sami has an interesting history with rape...

Alan raped her. She shot his junk off.

She raped Austin, whom she was obsessed with. Then he fell in love with her.

EJ raped her, after she had fallen for him. She never really hated him for it either. Then she got with him.

I really like they finally touched upon Sami raping Austin when she and EJ had a talk about what he did to her. I never understand why people didnt mind her and Austin together after she raped him, but are so against sami and ej. I guess its that old mindset that women cant rape men? ehh... I dont really care, on the soaps, i liked sami/austin and i like sami/ej. but i like sami/anybody.

Is there anyone else on soaps who is a rape victim and a rapist?

    • My hunch is what you've described. JFP is likely back working on transitioning the show to a new studio and embracing new technology for its production model.
    • The woman who was the co-chair of Latinas for Trump is now complaining about his targeting immigrants that she thought were "safe." I also read a puff piece from yet another "insider" journalist who lives to normalize fascists - this one with a tech bro who was venting off the record because he thought voting for Trump was cool and would show up the Democrats and maybe we'd get Greenland, but now he's getting upset.  These people still support Trump, and Republicans, they just want to make sure they get credit for being respectable. And they will get it.
    • I really do wish someone could. Just a few characters in very simple backdrops, with very real problems that are just a little larger than life, like the '50s and '60s. All the characters having a level of dignity or respect. And their inner lives are what dominate the story, even if there are outside forces at play.
    • It's a lesson to never be loyal because once your use is up, you're shown the door. MSW was the only bright spot for CBS for awhile, and once they were back on top... they promptly sabotaged the show as a repayment for all that the show had done for the network.
    • The show made a mistake in not bringing in more McKinnon kids, specifically bringing back Ben. Kathleen was leaving, and while I like you am very fond of Sally Spencer as MJ, that didn't seem to be a common view. They also decimated the character in a truly sick storyline. So that just left Cheryl.
    • Between Gwen and Cat, the show often seems to side with those who cause lots of cruelty to Jack and Jennifer. I am half-surprised that the show hasn't brought Peter Blake back for more of the same.  I don't really know if there is a purpose for them in Salem now, but I do feel a sense of stability and rightness when Melissa Reeves is back in the role of Jennifer and back in the Horton house, in spite of...well, a lot of offcamera stuff we all know perfectly well.
    • I like to call her an FC-reject character

    • I’m sensing you’re not really a John Black fan from your posts. This has been some of the best soap Days has done in many years but you seem completely opposed to it lol.
    • The John Black character has been a part of my life for decades. I like heroes being honored, however imperfect they may be.  I'm glad they are giving him a long farewell and tribute.
    • Annie Dutton was anything, but sane when she was introduced.  She was very tortured and looked like she was on the verge of tears when she was first introduced.   While people, and writers, made it seem as though Annie lost her mind because of Josh.. I truly think that Annie had a lot of untreated mental issues that didn't manifest until her marriage to Josh. Sonni was also anything, but strong when she was first introduced either.   Claire in 1983 was a complete 180 from the Claire that we got in 1986... and I do agree that her character was degraded.
