Members Contessa Donatella
I can't say enough good about Stephen Schnetzer!!! And, Cass was such a resilient character. You think so? I could be wrong.
Members DRW50
It's hard to believe sometimes Cass and Felicia weren't even on the show 20 years. They lived so many lives. You probably remember better than I do. I thought I remembered him saying something briefly about needing to go home to his wife, maybe when he was leaving a party. Members Maxim
Me and my husband watched October 27, 28 and 31 - 1988 tonight, while having dinner. It was quite a marathon. These are the episodes in which Iris comes back to Bay City... I'm watching these episodes for the 2nd time and this time it was even more interesting. Couple of weeks ago... this was my first taste of Harding Lemay and let me tell you - what a taste! Compared to the bland, cheapish, melodramatic 1987 episodes, this makes you excited and hooked right then and there. We had Iris coming into the house, greeted by a not very happy Rachel (who can blame her), Iris getting her hooks into Daddy already! We had Iris checking for a new apartment and staring at Michael Hudson like he's a snack. We had Iris tell Daddy she was in fact his daughter! We had Evan reveal to the viewers that Iris was in fact the Chief... And her mischievous laugh that follows. Such bright, dynamic, smart written episodes. Dialogue is realistic, normal people - with an edge, no melodramatic violins every second scene, no useless repeating. Small memorable details all through. Rich, fascinating, important material! Even the scenes that can be considered filler are just... beautiful scenes in which people talk about life, love, family, lost childhood. (I especially loved Vicky's moment about not having a mother - I teared up!) I am now looking at this period and episodes with new eyes, since... well... I endured the 1987 episodes. I am appreciating them even more. Beauty. Substance. Class. Another World. Members Contessa Donatella
I love Vicky & Bridget scenes! I've curated 2 Anne Heche YouTube lists & one is all her & Bridget. I've got a SON poster who has previously attacked me on 2 other sites & today they did so on Bluesky. They had no followers & were following no one & had made only 2 posts, the posts attacking me. I'm not going to name them because I don't want to give them that much attention. If anyone wants to know, PM me. I'm posting this here because I consider this home. And, there is one thing about it that I don't like one bit. They've escalated. Their last line was to the Parkinsons god to do just one job for them. Since they know I have Parkinsons their meaning was clear. They're praying for my death. This to me takes it beyond nuisance to evil.
Members Maxim
I relate to this scene so much, since in a way, I too have never had a mother. I had a monster, but not a mother. And all my life I've gravitated towards women who can be like mother figures to me. Just like Vicky and Bridget. That scene hit me to the core.
Members Contessa Donatella
And, this makes it clear why I was furious when Jill Farren Phelps fired Barbara Berjer for being too old.
Members Maxim
I adore Bridget... every since she's in... brings warmth and this... home feeling. And she has that I'm going to tell you not to make a mistake-vibe of wisdom that I cherish.
Members Contessa Donatella
She is incredibly wise. And, she not only understands Victoria but also Miss Donna & even Michael. Later on of course she has insight into both Jamie and more importantly Ryan.
Members Maxim
And this is a type of character I think is desperately needed back in modern-day soaps. We have a crisis of lack of no-wise characters.

Members Xanthe
When I was watching a 1991 episode a little while ago I was completely wrapped up in how comfortable Cass and Kathleen were with each other (they were lying to Darby Hinton about wanting a boat in order to investigate what had become of Taylor Benson). The dreariest time for Cass and Kathleen was in 1985-86 when she was paralyzed. It wasn't all bleak but it did seem to drag, especially when she was away from Bay City and Cass had to get close to her through a puppet show. Cass and Frankie were together for longer and although they went through some storylines that didn't ultimately work for me I never felt as though breaking them up (or brutally murdering either one of them) would make it better. I think Stephen and Alice here are Stephen Schnetzer and Alice Barrett-Mitchell, not Steven Frame and Alice Matthews. I know Scannell only by name. What kind of characters did she play? The photo looks very glamorous to me which is the antithesis of Kathleen.
Members chrisml
Roundup of topics: re: spoilers If I know someone in a thread is watching a story for the first time, I'm not going to discuss spoilers just out of consideration for that person. I like when people still discover soap storylines for the first time. The only exception I would make is The Red Swan because I would warn the person not to get invested in that endless storyline. I think 1987 was a lot of missed opportunities and some bizarre choices (getting rid of Quinn and not recasting or working to keep JC's Nancy) but I still thought it was watchable to an extent. For me, parts of 1988 were absolutely the worst and the writing was atrocious. I don't know what was the strike writers and which was Anderson or Lemay, but I was not happy with a lot of that year. re: Cass. I don't remember much of Kathleen or Cass, so Cass and Nicole were the first major pairing. I really liked the Cass/Nicole relationship, and I was beyond annoyed when the writers destroyed it. I think Anne Howard deserved better than she got. I always hoped they would put Alice Barrett with Paul Michael Valley. I know there were hints of it, but they didn't do it.
Members Contessa Donatella
Oh, if so I completely disagree about whatever was said about dreariness. Apparently if you say Steve & Alice to me I have a knee-jerk reaction!! I found one of my lists of AW Christmases where I have the full episodes. 1982 1983 1984 12-24-85 12-25-85 1986 1987 1990 1991 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997 I also have some AW Christmases clipped but they're on a different list.
Members Contessa Donatella
This just strikes me as hilarious. If we have an Early Warning for the Red Swan shouldn't we also warn about the Egyptian dust in Arizona or whatever the heck that story was?!!! I never in a million years envisioned Frankie with anyone but Cass except maybe Joe. Ryan is a whole new concept.
Members Maxim
Oh my God, that is... just so sweet of you. Actually moments like these... can freaking make me tear up. Because it's so unexpected. Thank you for thinking of me... And again - anyone who is reading this message - I do not want or ask of you to not share spoilers... Absolutely do not demand this. I don't want to be mis-read AGAIN. I don't have time for this. I am just thankful to someone that they had me in mind... Anyone at any time can post as much spoilers they want. I just wanted to say how this person's message made me feel. Please register in order to view this content
