One of my least favorite soap opens. To me it has dated much more than the Gayle/Rabbit intro. And then they could not afford proper updates (although they had a few, like Rhonda Ross - hell knowing P&G by then maybe she paid for it herself). My "favorite" was when they didn't bother to update Kevin McClathy leaving but kept the shot of Dahlia Salem, so we just got shots of her spinning in some unknown figure's arms. Any time I see that I keep expecting to hear "AAAGGGHHH!!!" and to see her go flying.

So that's when they choose to listen to the fans...

I did see a fanfic on here a long time ago that made good use of them but the possibilities in the last years of a soap were not much.

At least they didn't go through with the plans to have Carl bring Satan to Bay City (imagine a possessed Rachel).

Thank the soap gods that there was at least some resistance to the DOOLification of AW. Justine wad bad enough, can you only imagine Rachel with yellow contact lenses & she levitates of course. Not to mention that she would have desecrated some church. No telling what they'd have had her doing. I'm not sure what they'd have used for motivation without a Stefano. But I'm sure they'd have come up with something. We're just really lucky that they didn't take it that far.

Oh My God, that would have been rock bottom for daytime as a whole. 😂

They kept flirting (vampire Tomas, Carl selling his soul), but luckily kept averting until near the end with Lumina. At least none of that really affected central characters (Amanda, but she was so generic). Maybe the original version would have had more of an influence.

Jesus Christ... this doesn't sound like something I would want to watch. Another World ended up having vampires?!!!!!!!! What happened... or should I ask - WHO happened (which head writer)!

I haven't seen the episodes myself but from what I read some patient came into the hospital with vampire bites and I think Tomas may have started having dreams or was bitten (?). It didn't go very far.

That is a visual I won't be able to get out of my mind tonight. 🤓 😂

The only part of a possessed Rachel I would have enjoyed is if Iris had returned (less likely in AW's last years than demonic possession).

Amanda: Iris...Mom's been possessed by the Devil!

Iris: I've been telling people that for 30 years.

A few years back, Jean Passanante was on Twitter. I got into a Dm chat with her. I was telling her that I had justr posted all of the picture of the Lumina masked ball costumes & where if she happened to want to see them. But, she wanted to talk about it. She said, Hmm, Lumina? Leah & I wrote that together. And, I said yes, of course, that they had. The next words out of her mouth floored me. She said, "It was strange." My God, the way she said it. I couldn't believe it. I mean, if she thought it was strange, which hell yes it was, but who wanted it written? I still am clueless. But, in a way knowing that makes it so much worse.

I need to print this and frame it! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

May I add.

Amanda: She was levitating, Iris!

Iris: I hope not in my father's living room, the chandelier is very expensive. I ordered it from Italy.

They just flirted with it. They didn't pursue it. Tomas was an EMT, I think. He had some function having to do with the hospital. And, he reported a vampire, at the hospital. Nothing came of it.

That's a good line.

I imagine some NBC higher-up. They should have kept the show on longer if they wanted them to try to push out that gunk.

The Soap Gods intervened for the sake of the Legacy. 🙈

Yes, of course, it definitely would have come from NBC. They'd been micromanaging the show for years. And, they had a hard on for DAYS at that time.

If DAYS had moved to ABC, as was rumored at the time, I wonder if they would have kept AW or still cleaned house of that and Sunset Beach.

Well, Angela Shapiro wanted AW. No one knows where they'd have put it on their lineup but she approached P&G, wanting to acquire it. Some said they would have run it at the end of the day, having 5 shows like they did with EON. Others say they'd have cut it to a half hour & run it in place of PC. It's all moot since P&G said NO.

That's definitely a big what might have been. It's hard to imagine AW on ABC. Maybe they could have gotten Harding Lemay back one last time as he was at ABC then.
