April 17, 200916 yr Member Does anyone know what is Hogan Sheffer's job at The Young and the Restless exactly? If not exactly, then I'd like to hear some theories. Didn't Maria say he was good at lay out and advancing plot? So, I guess that's his main responsibility. From what we've heard about Hamner, it seems like he does some type of coordination role, not so much about story, but getting everything together.

And what exactly does that mean?
April 17, 200916 yr Member Where did she say that? In SOD? And what exactly does that mean? It's what Maria told Nelson a few months back.
April 17, 200916 yr Member It's what Maria told Nelson a few months back. Oh. Anyway, I'm not really interested in what he's "good at", I want to know what exactly does he do there.
April 17, 200916 yr Member Oh. Anyway, I'm not really interested in what he's "good at", I want to know what exactly does he do there. I'm pretty sure it's lay out and advancing plot, the last time I checked, they were things that could be done...
April 17, 200916 yr Member I'm pretty sure it's lay out and advancing plot, the last time I checked, they were things that could be done... So... In your world... What's lay out and what's advancing plot? Last time you checked they were things that could be done? What kind of a sentence is that? I don't get it. Sorry.
April 17, 200916 yr Member So... In your world... What's lay out and what's advancing plot? Last time you checked they were things that could be done? What kind of a sentence is that? I don't get it. Sorry. You said you want to know what "he does do there." I don't see how lay out and plot advancing aren't things that can't be done. That's all. I think he has some story input, but his overall work is the the mechanics of the writing process, that was my point.

Or only breakdowns? And if he consults, how does it go — he reads Maria's bible and says: Hey, this part sucks, we should do it this way?
April 17, 200916 yr Member I want to know what... Does he write projections, for example? Or only breakdowns? And if he consults, how does it go — he reads Maria's bible and says: Hey, this part sucks, we should do it this way? No idea, but you can never tell with these things anymore. I wonder how many soaps write a year's worth of a soap bible anymore. It seems like so much is being rewritten on all the soaps these days, that writers just make stuff up as they go along - particularly on ABC.
April 17, 200916 yr Member Oh. Anyway, I'm not really interested in what he's "good at", I want to know what exactly does he do there. It's not pan flutes, Sylph. There is nothing special or proprietary about any soap's process. He does what writers do...which should be...obvious? Or did I misread your scold of me earlier in the week?
April 17, 200916 yr Member It's not pan flutes, Sylph. You are as late as ever. You always reply to a post five days after someone asks you something. :takes a deap breath and a bit: The pan flutes and Arcadia thing were a reference to your illusion that Y&R's team is something so splendid, so beautiful, so unreal, so well-oiled that nothing like it has ever existed in the soap world: all great individuals who love their work, who love Y&R, who love and know its history and who just love, love, love it all and can't wait to bring more of that "symphony" to your TV screen. Who just adore historic references, 'cause they know MarkH will log on SON and say: Hey, did you see that? That was awesome! Never mind the cr*ppy sh!t the dialogue is, what matters is that it's trademark Y&R cr*p and that it mentions history! History is everything. There is nothing special or proprietary about any soap's process. He does what writers do...which should be...obvious? Or did I misread your scold of me earlier in the week? Not only did you misread it, you've now made a mess of the whole question. Get back on topic, we're not in ancient Greece anymore: I asked what's Hogan actually writing (d'oh... I know he's doing what writers do, he writes, but what?) — bibles or daily outlines? That's what I want to know. And how much story input does he have. Edited April 17, 200916 yr by Sylph

April 18, 200916 yr Author Administrator This thread was dead for what seemed like months for a while. It's about time it started to become active again. All it needed was some good ole Y&R discussion. Hard to believe how active the 2008 edition of this thread was. 2008 was a big transition year for Y&R. It was like every month the show would fire/hire someone. It was the show that kept of giving to this thread. LOL DAYS also had a big transition in 2008. Pratt didn't do anything - just three "transactions" under his reign. Y&R's team is something so splendid Well it is. I think it's a pretty good team.
April 18, 200916 yr Author Administrator Thanks Toups:Can you find out who penned the breakdowns for fri, Aprl 3 and monday, april 6. To me, those episodes along with 4/2 should be the three emmy submissions for writing, directing and some of the actors. I thought Cwikly's breakdown on 4/2 was awesome and was here 4/10 episode. She's underrated, but the 4/3 episode with a script by Esser was phenomenal. Love to know who did those breakdowns. thanks April 3- BDW: Marla Kanelos April 6- BDW: Natalie Minardi Slater Wow, Kanelos wrote another great episode - April 3 was fantastic. According to Pratt in SOD he would like to get one of Guiding Light's writers for AMC but it's "a long shot". I am guessing it's Chris Dunn, who I believe is the only GL writer Pratt has crossed paths with in the past (Santa Barbara, Sunset Beach). I don't know why it would be a long shot though. I don't think Dunn was there at same time as Pratt. If he was, it was only for a short time. They probably had little interaction at Sunset Beach since Pratt was only consulting.
