I just noticed that Kathryn Foster directed today's episode of B&B. Is this the first work she's done since leaving DAYS?

It is.

That makes me sad. She shouldn't be at that soap, she should come back home to Y&R.

B&B doesn't deserve her.

It makes me sad too. :( She belongs at Y&R where her talents will be used. She's going to be wasted at B&B. Come home, Kathryn!!!

But c'mon, Wheeler doesn't even have proper end credits for her show. She relies on those squeeze credits provided by CBS and when the shows are put on the net, they usually end with the title card and never anything crediting the actors/writers/directors/producers. Surely to God it can't be difficult to credit your own BTS staffers(and stars) incase the shows are ever rerun in syndication. I mean, she makes everything else in Final Cut.

The squeeze credits aren't really under her control, though. CBS imposes those on all their shows as they air on the network, in both daytime and prime time, so the shows have no say in whether or not to use them. However, the content of what CBS puts in the "squeeze" comes from what the shows put in their original feeds to the network, and that's what you see when you watch Y&R on SoapNet or any of the CBS soaps on the net. And from what you said, the web version doesn't have those credits either, and that IS something under Wheeler's control. So Wheeler could and should credit all those people you mention to give them their due, but for reasons only she knows, she doesn't.

I know that Ellen had all the time in the world to change it (and that Conboy for a time DID change it, even if he didn't do so in the end credits), but the person to blame is Paul Rauch. The show credited each script writer for YEARS until 1997 when Rauch first came on.

Oh I definitely blame Rauch too. The only thing I liked about Conboy was that he credited the episode breakdown and script writer. I think he was the first to do that (re: episode breakdowns).

Does anyone know if she's been invited back home to Y&R, or if she's asked to come back and wasn't given the opportunity? It's been months since she and Mike Denney stopped working at DAYS. Denney's turned up on Y&R off and on, but there's been no sign of Kathryn. Makes one wonder if the door's open for her at Y&R right now - and if it isn't, isn't it better to at least have her in the Bell family again rather than letting someone else snap her up?

On one side yes, but seeing as how B&B is a total trainwreck, I just don't want her there.

Y&R: (this is a bit trickier) After the Kanelos/Minardi Slater/Milstein list:

- if there's a name under Amanda Beall, it means Amanda wrote the episode breakdown ,and the writer underneath Amanda is the episode script writer

- if there is a name above Amanda Beall, it means Amanda wrote the episode script, and the writer above her wrote the episode breakdown

- if there is only one writer listed, they wrote the episode script, and either Kanelos/Minardi Slater/Sheffer wrote the episode breakdown

Shouldn't the first two read, if there are two writers listed, the top one wrote the breakdown and the bottom one wrote the episode script? The way it's worded makes it sound like Beall has to be the breakdown or script writer each day, and that's not always the case - or is it?

Yes, it's better that she's at a Bell show than some hell hole like GH. Perhaps Kathryn preferred the work schedule offered by B&B...2 episodes a day, once or twice a week.

Plus, David Shaugnessy is at B&B.

I mentioned Amanda specifically because she does both and that might confuse people. But I will go back and edit to mention what you said. :)

And in Shaughnessy's case, he only directs 2-3 episodes a month, as does Jennifer Howard, with the bulk of the month being done by Stich, Kelley and Popp. Maybe Kathryn's looking for something like that and Y&R, for whatever reason, hasn't been able to give it to her?

I think Kathryn's freelancing, B&B tapes so rapidly and far ahead that one of their main directors probably couldn't make it in one day, so someone must have called her.

But I don't mind her at B&B, that show is fairly easy to direct, and many of their main directors suck so much sometimes.

Y&R can give Susan Strickler and Grant A. Johnson's episodes to Kathryn Foster. I don't know why Grant isn't on contract at DAYS since Tomlin is there and he's directing a lot at DAYS too.

I guess I see your point. Now that Amanda is wearing two hats, it can confuse things no matter how you word it especially for someone looking for the info for the first time. :)

Is she? I thought she fully went to breakdowns. She isn't suppose to writing scripts anymore.

Any in particular that you're not fond of among the main directors?
