They indeed run deep, so do other things like... homophobia... that thing that is making the comeback of the century (some would say it never left for a second and they would be right!). Kamala would have prevented that to an extend. She would have kept these people at check. She would have fought for our rights and freedoms. But guess what, these days it's starting to become a new normal for me to be stared at with disgust or even hear comments when my husband dares to hold my hand. This is something new for us to experience, but it's also new that the country (Germany) is having an unprecedented re-activation of all kinds of hate, mostly propaganda by one very toxic party. Come and visit and you'll feel it too. These past few years everything's been going downhill.

And guess what... now psychotic German media and far-right crazies are acting like this is the proof of how they were right about everything... And I fear they are going to continue manipulating people till they achieve the same result here. They are going to keep giving USA as an example to push their narative. I am not sure if my marriage will be legal in couple of years... maybe one day it will not. I don't want to be too negative or paranoid... but NOTHING will surprise me anymore.

Millions of people. Millions... picked dictatorship over democracy. A convicted criminal over a black woman that WORKS to save us from these kinds of people. No... they want a dictator! If they wanted a dictator so much, why didn't they migrate to Russia? Is it so freaking hard? They would have taken them with open arms... They would have felt amazing there!

I'm so f-cking done. Even though I swore to myself that I was not going to drink alcohol, I went to the 24/7 liquor corner and bought a huge bottle of some cheap ass martini drink. I plan to numb the pain as much as I can.

Here is Aaron Rupar's full essay:
https://www.publicnotice.co/p/trump-beats-harris-2024

Rupar says: "the sun will rise again and the fight for justice and inclusion will continue. This is a crisis, but it isn’t the end of history. We have plenty of allies to help us through, and it’ll be important to maintain a sense of solidarity with marginalized communities that wind up in Trump’s crosshair"

via Zeke Miller of the AP:

Vice President Kamala Harris called President-elect Donald Trump Wednesday to congratulate him on his election victory, a senior Harris aide said.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the call.

The aide said Harris discussed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power with Trump ahead of her planned concession speech Wednesday afternoon.

Looking into immigrating to Canada. Just deleted all my news apps from my phone. Along with Twitter/X. After today it will be a constant notifications of what Trump did and didnt do.

I mostly blame US media for this. If they didnt OVEREXPOSE him daily we wouldnt be sitting in this mess AGAIN! That was the plan all along. He brings in the money for the networks because of his constant nonsense and the gullible public feeds on it.

My mental health cant take that madness anymore.

Many moons ago when NYT first went digital and their online subscriptions were free of cost, I signed up for a subscription. I never got a paid subscription but kept the account for, it must be over two decades now. Today, I deleted my account that I had since the beginning of their digital edition. And in the slot that asks for reasons for leaving boy, did I give them a piece of my mind!

I actually did this early this morning. Nobody needed to prompt me to take this action. I was furious. And just the other day, NYT was bragging about how many digital subscriptions they now have.

Let America Be America Again
by poet Langston Hughes

Written in 1935; first published in Esquire in 1936.
published again in 1938 in "A New Song", a pamphlet of poems, chants, ballads and songs published by the International Workers Order.

Let America be America again.
Let it be the dream it used to be.
Let it be the pioneer on the plain
Seeking a home where he himself is free.

(America never was America to me.)

Let America be the dream the dreamers dreamed—
Let it be that great strong land of love
Where never kings connive nor tyrants scheme
That any man be crushed by one above.

(It never was America to me.)

O, let my land be a land where Liberty
Is crowned with no false patriotic wreath,
But opportunity is real, and life is free,
Equality is in the air we breathe.

(There’s never been equality for me,
Nor freedom in this “homeland of the free.”)

Say, who are you that mumbles in the dark?
And who are you that draws your veil across the stars?

I am the poor white, fooled and pushed apart,
I am the Negro bearing slavery’s scars.
I am the red man driven from the land,
I am the immigrant clutching the hope I seek—
And finding only the same old stupid plan
Of dog eat dog, of mighty crush the weak.

I am the young man, full of strength and hope,
Tangled in that ancient endless chain
Of profit, power, gain, of grab the land!
Of grab the gold! Of grab the ways of satisfying need!
Of work the men! Of take the pay!
Of owning everything for one’s own greed!

I am the farmer, bondsman to the soil.
I am the worker sold to the machine.
I am the Negro, servant to you all.
I am the people, humble, hungry, mean—
Hungry yet today despite the dream.
Beaten yet today—O, Pioneers!
I am the man who never got ahead,
The poorest worker bartered through the years.

Yet I’m the one who dreamt our basic dream
In the Old World while still a serf of kings,
Who dreamt a dream so strong, so brave, so true,
That even yet its mighty daring sings
In every brick and stone, in every furrow turned
That’s made America the land it has become.
O, I’m the man who sailed those early seas
In search of what I meant to be my home—
For I’m the one who left dark Ireland’s shore,
And Poland’s plain, and England’s grassy lea,
And torn from Black Africa’s strand I came
To build a “homeland of the free.”

The free?

Who said the free? Not me?
Surely not me? The millions on relief today?
The millions shot down when we strike?
The millions who have nothing for our pay?
For all the dreams we’ve dreamed
And all the songs we’ve sung
And all the hopes we’ve held
And all the flags we’ve hung,
The millions who have nothing for our pay—
Except the dream that’s almost dead today.

O, let America be America again—
The land that never has been yet—
And yet must be—the land where every man is free.
The land that’s mine—the poor man’s, Indian’s, Negro’s, ME—
Who made America,
Whose sweat and blood, whose faith and pain,
Whose hand at the foundry, whose plow in the rain,
Must bring back our mighty dream again.

Sure, call me any ugly name you choose—
The steel of freedom does not stain.
From those who live like leeches on the people’s lives,
We must take back our land again,
America!

O, yes,
I say it plain,
America never was America to me,
And yet I swear this oath—
America will be!

Out of the rack and ruin of our gangster death,
The rape and rot of graft, and stealth, and lies,
We, the people, must redeem
The land, the mines, the plants, the rivers.
The mountains and the endless plain—
All, all the stretch of these great green states—
And make America again!

I hope this isn't true. I can hardly imagine a more self defeating action. Plus I'm not sure there are enough normies who care about this issue.

For my part, I was horrified to see what was going on at US universities. So many cases of plagiarism among professors and so many professors who sound downright nuts. Then all the protests that were not completely organic with people screaming death to America. Plus a ton of those students seem unhinged and easily influenced by foreign propaganda.

For my part I think it was the economy, sexism and racism. Also, a backlash to feminism.

I'm sorry; I can't imagine how you must be feeling. I'm scared too but at the same time I'm not going to just lay down and die. Damn it I'm going to fight no matter what. I refuse to quit. I don't have any other choice but to fight for the country that I love and I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure that I can protect my loved ones from the hell that's going to await them.

    • Ted has been icky and giving off bad guy vibe from the first moment I saw him. I have a sensor for that and it was beeping! So...don't put all the blame on Silkpress. The woman needs a good psychiatrist, true... but Leslie is just one of the skeletons in HIS closet. Ted is even a bigger monster, because he's hidden.  IT WAS A PERFECT REVEAL. Perfect, because in the beginning of the show... Dani was envying her sister's marriage... In these first few messy weeks... her own misery and life spiraling was contrasted to the picture-perfect marriage Nicole and Ted seemed to have. (on first glance). What happened now... is very very smart writing. THIS IS THE MOMENT THE MASKS ARE FALLING! The message it delivers to me is this. It says - no matter how things look... they are not what they seem. You can't judge a marriage by how it appears to be. Aaaand in the long run... maybe the messiest-looking people (Dani Dupree, I'm talking about you!) HAVE less issues and problems than the ones that seem to have it all. The ones with the MOST skeletons in the closets and the dirty pasts.   It was an AHA moment for the whole family and the viewers and a way forward for Dani and Nicole to bond even more and realize they are MORE alike than they are different. Now it will be quite a different dynamic, because Dani will have to SUPPORT someone and not be the one getting her wounds licked always. And also another lesson. Some men are dogs. Not all of them. But a lot of them are. The difference is... some can't be easily recognized. These creeps have put very impressive masks. The show is doing this perfectly. Beat by beat. Exploring classic soap opera themes and stories. Real-life characters and situations, that are relatable and make you think... Hmm... maybe I need to dig a little deeper next time I say "these people are perfect" or otherwise. Maybe I need to think MORE. That type of storytelling. It's not easy to do that.  Brava BTG.  B-R-A-V-A!
    • I speculate that Nicole will go through cycles of numbness/grief/rage.  At some point later on, regardless of DNA results (or faked results), whether there was a baby swap or not, I think Nicole will forgive Eva, and eventually love her someday.  Nicole will come to understand that Leslie gaslighted/manipulated Eva.  Nicole will be her loving self, although more guarded than before.   Just my thoughts.
    • Lol. That comment was just silly.  I feel like The Guiding Light started it when they made me love Roger Thorpe. Leslie is pussycat in comparison and there is a lot of story to go  for her and Eva.
    • Your posts continue to amuse me. I don't know anyone else who thinks Leslie and Eva should "hightail it out of town."  And listen, soaps have been FOR DECADES keeping around villains who we know would be jailed in real life. So is it crazy to think "they are just going to let this slide"? No. It's kind of hilarious to watch you take everything that happens on this show and distort it or lead me to think, "Huh???"
    • I can't even count the amount of magazine covers and photoshoots KKL has been in the past few months. Shame that the show is not mirroring the success she's having. It would have been so great to see both KKL and Brooke be on top.  I'm still holding a grudge that Brad rewrote the company take-over to a nothing... and then nulled Brooke to being a romance beggar again.
    • I'm also getting an error that I haven't seen before, but there's been a couple of different variations, so not going to worry about it for now.
    • Finally got to sit down and watch. Wow!  When LesDanLuAnn said to Ted, this your daughter. I started tearing up...... Eva got me.  I felt like I was watching a soap opera.

    • The drag was when Tad and Edmund went to Budapest (?) in 1997 to get Maddie back from Dimitri.
