@GymnastGuyThanks for posting the three new Capitol 1985 episodes today. The two labeled March 12, and 13 are misidentified. The March 12 labeled one actually aired November 12 1985 which I figured out because Kenny Rogers' movie Wild Horses aired November 12th and it was announced over the "March 12" Cap credits. In addition, Craig Carlson is listed in the April credits but not the March. Craig left Capitol sometime after July 1985 before he rejoined OLTL in the credits by October 15, 1985; he was replaced on Cap by Radcliffe and Hamner. In these posted episodes Radcliffe/Hamner names appear in the March 85 episodes but not in the April.

Grant Aleksander talks a bit about Capitol 50 minutes into this interview. He says he did the show because he was under a hold due a pilot he made for Aaron Spelling and only had limited choices in what he could do. John Conboy agreed to hire him at Capitol for six months but told him he would only really have two sets - a pool and a bed.

Sadly, that was more than some African-American characters get on soaps today.

This episode is up on Youtube in partial form but I don't see the full one that was just put on Archive.

Capitol 1986-12-16 : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

Thanks. I just came here to say that I uploaded this episode on my archive page yesterday as well as some other episodes that wouldn't fit in the soap vault like ATWT and some ABC soaps I'm uploading today. You should be able to see it now, sometimes it takes a few hours for it to load correctly. The quality of this particular episode is incredible compared to other Capitol episodes that are online.

Thanks for all the time you're taking. I also watched the partial ATWT from that same day which I didn't see on Youtube.

Thank you. I've been looking at the Italian dubbed episodes from time to time and finding lots of things to like. I just struggle with the automated italian subtitles... So any episode in English is perfect.

Many that are around are in poor quality so I'm glad to see one in nice shape. I think the Mitch S channel also put up a number this year.

No offense, DRW50, but it's my understanding that this article is actually from the June 7, 1983, edition of Soap Opera Digest.

No problem.

I didn't even know if that article was still up.

When did they switch from Kimberly Beck Hilton to Catherine Hickland? I thought Hilton may have been let go, but she was being interviewed in SOD up to about spring or late winter 1983, so that seems like it was a while, and she wanted to leave.

I have some conflicting information regarding Kimberly Beck's 1983 departure from Capitol.  Both this Lynda Hirsch article and this Jon-Michael Reed article appear to indicate that she was fired from the show.  In answering someone's question in late 1983, however, Pat Hilton basically said that Beck departed from Capitol so she could "pursue other acting interests."  There's no doubt that Beck's slasher movie Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter was released less than year after she left the soap opera.  According to this page on IMDb, The Final Chapter began filming on October 3, 1983, less than a month after the articles by Hirsch and Reed were released.  I do know that Capitol and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter had the same casting directors (Fern Champion and Pamela Basker).  I would like to know if Beck was cast in The Final Chapter before or after she was notified of her departure from Capitol.  Did Champion cast Beck in The Final Chapter out of sympathy with her?  Consider the iconic status of the Friday the 13th franchise and the fact that a lot of Friday the 13th fans think very highly of The Final Chapter (Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert didn't), I wonder if Beck herself has cleared the air regarding her '83 departure from Capitol in the decades since The Final Chapter was released to movie theaters in April of 1984.  (Catherine Hickland, who replaced Beck as Julie Clegg on Capitol, was unable to do so in a 2020 interview with Alan Locher.)  Perhaps Beck's departure from Capitol was more amicable than the articles by Hirsch and Reed would lead people to believe.  Yes, I am aware that David Mason Daniels, who played Julie's significant other Tyler McCandless on Capitol, was himself let go in early 1985.

DRW50, what did you think of Kimberly Beck as Julie Clegg?  Do you consider it safe to say that Beck and David Mason Daniels were forced down viewers' throats as Julie and Tyler?  If Beck was indeed fired from Capitol, why wasn't Daniels fired at the same time that she was?  Dane Witherspoon, God rest his soul, was fired from Santa Barbara after just three months.  At least Kimberly Beck lasted a year and a half on Capitol.

I probably haven't seen enough to give a full opinion. Physically she was a good fit for the part, but Hickland was probably a better actress.
