Toups please never use the term mind rape again. It kinda creeped me out.

That said I see both of your points. The dialogue is still miles better than any JER dialogue I remember (THAT and the repitiveness of his scenes is what I don't like about the man's writing--and I admit that got worse the longer he went on--NOT necesarily him doing out there stories) I hated the Marty/Todd thing at first but it's being writtena dn acted so well that depsite myself it's becoming one of my fave things to watch.

Otherwise I'm with what Shadows said--when the time travel starts to affect real Llanview it gives me a bad feeling the way AMC under Passanate did when suddenly Ghost Gillian and Jess started to manipulate real objects, etc

I really enjoyed today's show, well I did FF the Todd/Blair stuff and enjoyed the rest of the show.

Loved the scenes between Charlie and Jared and wish they would really give us more of these two together. I am really liking this father/son relationship.

I hate that they are dumbing down characters to make this Tess story work, there is no way that anyone would NOT question this girl. It's so there IN your face.

Totally loved the scenes between Antonio and Talia, I am beginning to really like them again.

I'm glad the Mendorra story is finally ending--assuming antonio doesn't drag half of llanview back to mendora with him to rescue talia--the 1968 story is okay but I'll also be happy when it's over. I'd just prefer to see everyone back together in Llanview again. I like this cast, and I liked most of the stories that were in place before the 40th anniversary. Let's get back to the Buchanans fighting to get BE back, Tess running amuck, Todd and Marty, Starr/Cole/Marcie/Todd, Rex/Gigi/Brody and however that's going to play out. How about storylines for Lindsay, Leyla, and Langston/Markko?

I am only on Monday's show, but had to share something. I didn't mind Rex/Gigi at first, but now I am starting to get bored with them that whenever they actually do get "together" I don't think I am going to care anymore. She bugs the snot out of me how she jumps on Brody because he farts yet Rex is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I know Rex "took off" after he and Gigi slept together years ago. Do we know why? Brody always talks about how Rex "left" why wouldn't he do it again. I feel like to really get into this triangle, we need to see some tarnish on the god that is Rex. I am just starting to feel that I am having Rex/Gigi shoved down my throat that I HAVE to LOVE them, which only makes me like them less.

There are no words for how much I don't like this Tess story. I'm not going to like a story if the other characters are dumbed down to make a story work. Seriously, Tess is getting rid of Viki and it's so in her face that it annoys me that she isn't questioning it. It also annoys me to see Goofy Nat whenever Tess makes a 'sweet' comment to her. I like Clint and his devious ways to get BE back but he can cut Natalie some slack considering he's doing the same thing she did. I am SO hoping that blows up in his face some day and she gives him the big ole middle finger. I friggin LOVED the Jared/Charlie scenes. BK can say so much with so little...

The only reason I am remotely interested in this show is because of Rex/JPL.:wub: Whenever I see Jerry verDorn, I am thinking "Ross" not whomever he's supposed to be playing on this show (but that's probably my own problem not of the writers/producers). And lastly, I don't get all this Gigi/FF love. IMHO, she's horrible. I can't stand the sight of her and wish that Rex was far, far removed from her orbit.

On it!

ETA: Can we please stop referring to it as the Tess story? Part of my problem is it is so Tess centric and I think it should be broader. Can it please be about the Buchanan family. I think bringing Todd into it has improved it immensely, hope that continues.

I think I said the same thing.

I saw some subtle movements in yesterday's show. Simply by virtue of bringing Clint and Nora into it, and having Jared talk to Charlie and Roxy about what's going on at Llanfair, and having Todd come in and turn on the light bulb (maybe someone is trying to kill you!) the story is now broader than it was last week. Is this the beginning of the build to the stories Ron plans to tell in the coming weeks/months. Are these stories really about Tess's revenge, or is that just the device from which these other stories will spring? I don't have the answer, but the secret to drawing us back in is for Tess's revenge to affect other characters the way Jared's lie did, and in that case the story wasn't really Unclecest, or Jared's deception. It was far too broad to define in those limited terms because it impacted Viki and Charlie, Dorian and Clint, Tess and Nash and so on. Hopefully we will begin to see that this story is NOT limited to Tess anymore.

Why didn't Steve respect Monica and Jeff's decision?  I get he's Jeff's father, and that's how it came out, but I don't like the ethics of the story. A stranger gets to make life or death decisions over a wife's demands?   I hope Monica secretly never forgave Steve's chauvinism.
    • Question: Jon-Michael Reed's review of 1977 is up in the retro soap section.  It includes a fleeting reference to comedic scenes between Jeanne Cooper and Julianna McCarthy regarding “Kay's would-be beau, Ralph the Plumber”.  Could someone please fill me in will more details? I forgot that Kay and Liz were friendly before Jill stole Kay's husband.  And the thought of Liz playing a comedic scene blows my mind, because I only recall her being dour both in demeanor and wardrobe.
    • I said on Twitter on Friday when Leslie mentioned Chicago that perhaps she might be related to one of Anita's bandmates. Since we hardly know anything about Leslie's childhood background. In addition, Leslie said she grew up listening to The Articulettes….
    • There was a scene in the past week or two with Leslie looking at some papers and mementos, which included an invitation or souvenir from Alan's memorial service or funeral -- it was dated as November 2024. Me just guessing but it seems to me that Martin's nightmares about the accident are from something longer ago than November.
    • ah thanks! do you know who the third one was in the blonde? the fifth one i know ive seen before in the brown wig but i forgot, and then ive never seen the psychic one before lol
    • I felt for Ted early on but as the story unfolded it has changed my opinion on him. To know he was cheating while his wife was struggling to give him a baby is a lot to deal with. Plus, this happened ages ago and still he's paying Leslie off and threatening her to leave town.  What really caused me to lose him in this episode was how even though he was busted, he still refused to take responsibility and come clean and the way he talked to Martin and Eva was terrible. To tell Smitty he better get Martin away from him when that is his SON who he used to cover up his affair? That is true dog behavior. Ted seems upset he got caught but I'm not seeing the remorse I would need to want Nicole to forgive him. I'm curious how I'll feel after Ted gets to talk to Nicole but I need him to fix it with the rest of the family as well.
    • I'm sorry. I well remember Jake doing Doris but I have no independent memory of the story around it.  Krystle with a K Lake, sure, both Tony the Tuna stories & NOT.  And, Jake also impersonated a woman named Bunny Eberhardt but he didn't know she was a woman so there was no drag. This weekend I re-watched Kevin & Mac, GH, and my strong impression is exactly what it was when I watched it in real time: They did not let them look very pretty. Of course, I think the best ever drag on GH was Alexis posing as the Q butler.  In a different use of drag at AW one Halloween, Jensen Buchanan went as Charlie Chaplin & Judi Evans went as, I think, a male gypsy.

    • I'm not sure who wanted them to dump REUNION & instead do a "Dallas-like daytime show" but it seems that it def came from NBC to AW through Rauch, so, yes, it absolutely could have been his (cough-another-stupid?) decision!!!! I've just begun the new Lisanti book so maybe I will find out. (I waited for the kindle version to come out.) I would apologize for being so critical & so sarcastic, too, but, well, I'm not actually sorry!  Silverman was NOT a friend to AW.  And, I believe the critique is on point & deserved! I wanted to explain why I think the timing is off for the 90 minute show to be a reaction to the GH Luke & Laura story & its hype. Because, for sure, networks & production companies did react to it! The first 90 minute show was Monday, March 5, 1979.  And, there was some unknown amount of time ahead of that with people arguing about it & then, planning it.  The Luke & Laura wedding was mid-November 1981.  They were on the run from Frank Smith & stayed overnight in Wyndham's Dept. Store early August 1980.
    • terrible at using forums and inserting photos, but jake in another world had a drag persona named doris, anyone know the episode or year? http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/ffad19.jpg
    • Yes, I am familiar with Fred Silverman. Agree, the 90 minute AW a very poor decision by Silverman. I think Silverman was behind the decision to go with Texas.
