By the figures of last week I had a feeling ATWT dropped. I guess no one gave a [!@#$%^&*] about CarHo affair. The numbers didnt go up. I think Holden confessed to Lily on Wednesday. Thursday Lily tried running down Carly. But the cliffhanger was spoiled by the previews for Friday's show.

You never give up trying to link random daily ratings fluctuations to the stories that you dislike or like. LOL! I don't watch ATWT any more, but I seriously doubt that Holden and Carly were the only story shown last week. There must be other storylines since there are tons other characters on ATWT.

Yep and Jack and Luke found out on Friday about the affair.

Sure there were other stories on but this was the big story of the week. Contrast that with the week before with the reveal of Emily/Casey and the show went up .3. And from people's reactions, they loved the Casey/Emily reveal and many were disappointed in the Holden/Carly reveal so the ratings are no surprise.

I must be in the minority, but I am actually kind of into the Holden and Carly plots on ATWT. It creates some good tension between Carly and Jack. Also the new Lily has kind of settled in for me (I think she has done a great job - can you imagine walking into that role). Although the show on the 25th was kind of pressing the envelope - goes from one scene when Luke and Noah are kissing and talking about when they are going to have sex, straight to the after-sex scene between Liberty and Parker (who are like 13 and 15 years old).

Everything on ATWT is good right now and I love the Carly/Holden/Lily/Jack stuff as its gotten better overtime to me. I think ATWT's rating will be predicated on how it did last week since the Liberty and Parker stuff had people talking.

Surprised AMC is holding up right now. GL is the hottest of the soaps right now and its showing and I fear for DOOL being the last place soap, but its their fault for firing Sheffer and now Y&R is benefiting its rewards reaching a 3.7 twice in one week.

I might be the only one here, but I think Y&R reaches a 5.0 or 4.5 in November. They've got a hot sweep s/l planned and its huge. The reason why I think that is b/c Sudden Impact is going to help bring people back and they've got three months to get near 4.0. People doubt Y&R ever seeing a day over 4.0 again, but its the one soap that will break that streak of soaps free falling.

I noticed GL dropped in the daily ratings on July 15th (Tuesday) to 1.5 and they were pre-empted at 10AM in the following cities: Albany, Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, Flint/Saginaw, Fort Wayne & Miami. IMHO, If it wasn't for the pre-emptions they would've kept 1.7 for July 15th. I would assume the weekly ratings would show GL going up to 1.7 at least; however, I am quite curious how well GL during the week of July 21-25, 2008 especially with the Josh/Reva Wedding Revival Movie storyline, Josh/Cassie breaking up, and the Remy/Ava/Bill/Lizzie storyline. GL was super hot last week and it continues to be hot even this week. Go GL!

thanks for the ratings toups. although can somebody please explain to me how exactly does a soap benefit from constantly having 1st place with the Women 18-34 Rating? does it have anything do to with avertising and getting more money then the other soaps?

    • Can we talk about how iconic the 1994 tornado was on AMC? I was scanning through old episodes last night and came across this episode. The tornado was epic and the storylines/aftermath were so good (Julia's scar/Noah!; Jenny/Ray/Nola/Jesse in heaven with Tad, etc).  For 1994, these special effects and budget for this big event were amazing. 10 out of 10!  The only thing missing is Erica!  I can't recall where Erica was at the time, but I really wish she had been involved in this storyline.

    • On the way to her own engagement party? I've read that the show had trouble getting the audience to sympathize with Rita, but...that seems bizarre. Maybe I can understand the issue with the censors, given that at the time, rape wasn't depicted the way it is now, and marital rape was even less acknowledged.  Wasn't Chris Brooks' rape one of the first honest stories on the subject? I just don't think I could get into a show I didn't have a working knowledge of. I know it's a different era, but I really tried to get into GH once Maura West joined, but it just never jelled.
    • Yes it was! My mom and I convinced my dad to get one. He was--how shall I put this?--on the thrifty side, but one day he came home with one as a surprise. To this day, I'm convinced it fell off a truck. (He knew people with "connections."

) BUT, we had our VCR and we could watch our soaps. That thing lasted forever! It was built like a tank. Even when we got new ones with more features, we kept that one.

Blasphemy!  (Haha, I get it.  But, you should try watching AMC! 80s-90s was so good.)
    • I thought about saying how I resented the fact that those two newbies were tripping up the Puppetmaster of all Puppetmasters, when the best others could do was a stalemate (or less...). But, well...*sigh*
    • I read years ago that both Zaslow and Lenore both complained that it came off as a seduction because of CBS censors, so Lenore asked if she could say, "you raped me" to leave no doubt with the audience, and that Zaslow insisted that Holly's rape played realistically
    • Wow it’s official, Gatwa is out… https://www.avclub.com/ncuti-gatwa-addresses-doctor-who-finale-statement DW fandom on Reddit is in a furor over how things went down and apparent last minute scrapping of the original ending. Also…Billie Piper again really?
    • He comes pretty close, talkin' about how Reva is full of love and joy, blah blah....which is bilge considering he was the one responsible for throwing her out of Josh's life over working with Alan.
    • Just watched the episode concerning Olivia's drug use and Abby's persistence, etc. Donna Mills did stellar work in this episode, as did Tonya Crowe and Brian Austin Green (Brian).
    • But by Dinah and Hart...Hart especially looked as if he could not tie his own shoes!  Ed, Holly, Alan, Alex Henry and Vanessa among others were not able to put Roger down....Dinah???
