July 22, 200817 yr Member And Hensley was no slouch in the acting department either. He has another real shot at winning an Emmy Award next year if the idiots in charge pay attention. This alone should tell anyone Nelson's full of s.hit.
July 22, 200817 yr Author Member This alone should tell anyone Nelson's full of s.hit. I wonder if Nelson watches the same show I watch. Because Hensley gave nothing to those scenes with Noelle Beck. He was flat.
July 22, 200817 yr Member i actually think atwt is one of the better soaps on right now. I tend to agree, even though I bitch continuously. But I only watch B&B and GL...and aside from a few scattered eppys, I haven't been impressed with either of those in months. I think there's always a danger with these "special" eppys of stalling your momentum. Yes, there's a segment of fans that it's a "treat" for...but I've found that ATWT's efforts always seem to underperform in the ratings.
July 22, 200817 yr Member Here's a different spin on the subject from Lynn Liccardo...http://www.redroom.com/blog/lynnliccardo/don%E2%80%99t-shoot-messenger%E2%80%A6 All actors need to be able to find the emotional beats in the script, especially actors who don't "emote." In the over 20 years Jon Hensley's been on ATWT, the writers have provided him with some wonderful material, in particular, his scenes with Liz Hubbard and Holden's children. So clearly, there are writers on the team who can write to his strengths. But, not this time. I agree that Jon has been stronger in scenes especially with his kids and Lucinda. I think that shows he just doesn't work that well as a romantic lead anymore. It's not the fault of the writers. And he gets no worse writing than any of the others. Others manage to find the emotional beats on their own. Why should Jon be any different? The story wasn't to his strength which is his family, not romantic situations and it's not just that the writers failed. He just didn't deliver. And Nelson has loved Jon for a long time. He picked him as the best actor last year. Sorry but this isn't going to win Jon an Emmy nom, let alone an Emmy.

The aftermath was much better than this one. JH was better in the fallout Maybe Jon isnt so buying this story as he is leading us to believe.
July 22, 200817 yr Member Others manage to find the emotional beats on their own. I was gonna bring that up...Jon's been an actor for twenty-plus years. Surely, he can find the "emotional beat". It's not that I don't appreciate the subtle. But "continuously and completely subtle" comes off as bland. It doesn't seem like Jon even varies his manner or tone of voice, except to mumble. Even the ONE time he was supposed to be mad at Carly...he barely seemed annoyed.
