A nice episode from the short-lived Butcher era of the Vic, with Pat behind the bar.

Den's in trouble, and some nice individual scenes Sharon has with him, Pat, and Michelle.

I always wondered why they seemed to drop Sharon's friendship with Pat during Sharon's return stint in the 00's. She was always very close to Pat in the 80's and 90's, but they rarely interacted much in the 00's. Then again, it seemed like they were phasing out Pat from 2003 onwards. They seemed to build a relationship with Sharon and Pauline, who were never all that close in the 80's and 90's despite their connection to Michelle.

There were a lot of reports in 2003/2004 that Louise Berridge wanted to write Pat out, but wasn't allowed.

Berridge denied this, but I don't think she really cared for Pat. When watching the 2003/2004 episodes on PBS, Pat is rarely on, and when she is, she feels like a gloried dayplayer who supports that pest Laura, and criticizes Janine.

I was watching an episode from July 2002, and Lynne almost left Garry, for some old love. Garry didn't even let her say goodbye, as he was too busy drinking beer and watching football. There was a very good, sobering scene when she went to meet her boyfriend before they ran off, and he sat down to drink a beer and watch football. Lynne had left a note for Garry in the fridge, with his beer. She decided she didn't want to be with her old love and went back home. To her relief, the note had fallen under the fridge. But then at the end, Garry was still ignoring her, still interested only in his game, and she still felt deflated and alone.

This was such a very stark scene, and far more adult than most soap.

Strangely enough, her ex was played by the guy who was the father on the first season of Sarah Jane Adventures.

Did Garry ever find out?

This also had Phil manipulating Lisa as she was in a loveless marriage to Mark. Ugh. I always felt a little sorry for Lisa but that type of thing was just impossible to watch.

Garry did find out, I can't remember how though.

It always seemed like Lynne/Garry had a variation of the same storyline with different interlopers during Lynne's time on the show.

I always thought Elaine Lordan was an underrated actress, and Lynne was the most under-appreciated of the original Slater's.

I thought Lynne was a misery and I felt sorry for Garry but this time I did pity her, mostly because she realized she was leaving one hell for another, and yet was still in hell at the end.

This was also the days of Anthony/Zoe, although fortunately they were only in one scene.

Paul had a girlfriend who was threatened by her crimelord boyfriend (Goldie, who was voted first off Strictly Come Dancing a few years ago) into leaving Paul. Silly and not very well acted stuff, although Paul did a good job. He was underappreciated.

I want to see Lisa return to EastEnders. Her or Kate. I know some people thought Lisa was a bland character but Lucy is a great actress and bringing back Lisa could be a good move if they let her actually have fun for once.

I wasn't a fan of Lynne. She was very annoying and bland. I agree with the idea of Paul being underrated though. I thought he was great, shame he got killed off :(

P.S. I just tried watching Friday's episode and it turns out I wasn't missing anything. A massive story for Jack and I switched off straight away. He's one of the worst characters in soap at the moment, long overdue an axing, how can good characters depart when deadwood like him stay? :(

I'll have a look Carl, I am curious.

I think I'm gonna stop venturing into the DS forums, the amount of crap posted there is ridiclous, I have made my fair share of joke/silly threads, but the amount of support for Derek on there sickens me. He seems to have quite a large fanbase, I feel like I'm living in a parallell universe because I literally cannot comprehend why anyone would like him blink.png

Charlie Brooks is taking a 6 month break, there's rumous she wants to commit to doing Strictly Come Dancing during her break.

This is sad news, as Janine has become the best character on the show, but at least charlie is coming back. If done properly, her exit (before she comes back) could be good.

Gemma McCluskie, who had a role on Eastenders around 2001, went missing last Thursday. Her body was found and a man has been arrested in connection with this.

She played Kerry Skinner, Ethel's great niece. She mostly spent time with the Slaters, and manipulating Robbie Jackson.

The character wasn't very popular, but Gemma certainly played her for all she was worth.

It's such a terrible way to go.

    • In a way, Denise's inability to decide on which college to attend (before deciding to attend her family's alma mater and the college everyone knew she'd be attending anyway) was a clear signal that the poor girl was a flake and not "college material."  Denise Huxtable was someone who peaked in high school, lol. With guest stars Deborah Adair (ex-Jill, Y&R; ex-Tracy, DYNASTY; ex-Lucy, MP; ex-Kate, DAYS), Christopher Allport (ex-Tim McGowan, AW) and John de Lancie (ex-Eugene, DAYS)! "Frame" is one of those MSW's that you THINK is gonna be paint-by-numbers (no pun intended), and then it surprises you with one of those twist endings that often made episodes so enjoyable. I seriously wish they had gone for a Steven/Bart/Sammy Jo triangle instead, with Steven and Sammy Jo fighting over Bart, lol. And I still think Claudia burning to death at La Mirage was DYNASTY's dumbest cliffhanger. The perfect time to kill off Chase, IMO.  Alas.

    • Spoke with my contacts at Lifetime. As of now, there is nothing to share in terms of updates.
    • Which is still a form of manipulation. Granted it won't work because Ted isn't interested in Leslie at all no matter how much she tries to make him look like a horrible person. When you consider the situation with Hayley it does make sense why Anita would take that approach.
    • Another good one and great episode to start off the week. Confrontations, character moments, movement, and an awful lot of bubbles on display. lol.    I've found myself liking Sara Bibel breakdowns. And this episode might be why. I sense movement of plot going on. And Jazmen being on script duty has already become a highlight for me. So this episode dealing with more fallout from the SilkPress/Eva reveal was another good one. And even got a solid B plot moving in the Vanessa/Doug/Joey storyline...which I just said yesterday...has been the only one of the B plots...that has real build to it so far.    You are not a real soap pariah until you get dragged and a community treats you as such. So basically another old school soap vibe that Eva is giving me. Watching her trying to find her footing only to be read by just about everyone she has encountered has been great. It makes her so rootable. And she's played by an excellent actress. Cuz that quivering lip at the end with her and Anita...ooooo some of you all seem heated for Anita making poor girl cry even though it's her fault. That's great acting. Not to mention writing.    I also love that the side character got their point of view. I loved Mona moving about town trying to get info to avenge Nicole in a way. And she dragged Eva. She read Silk Press Sheila. And that 'enjoy the burn' was well-said. And did I see a spark with Mona and Randy? Hmmm. I don't mind.

I also didn't mind that Martin/Kat scene. I enjoy their sibling relationship so far. And I feel like the right thing to do to keep them close as they support their mother. It even made sense that Martin would soften to the idea of Eva as part of the family given their brief scene at the start of this storyline. Meanwhile, NO from Kat. lol. And she's already questioning the DNA test...OF COURSE SHE IS. But again...that avail...her and Eva being the SAME age. Twins. I just felt the writers are really foreshadowing that heavy. Meanwhile, the SilkPress saga is far from over.   I love the parade of Ted Visitors. LMAO!!! I thought Dani vs Ted was pretty good. But I about fell out when Anita walked up in there like old school Sonny Corinthos. And I hollered with Anita wiping the floor with Ted with Dani in the background like Jason Morgan. Watch your step, Theodore. Anita was giving Boss Bitca and I was living.    That said...I didn't like Anita making poor Eva cry. But as was said above...the stuff with Hayley is still too fresh on the Duprees' mind. So sadly understandable, Anita set down the law.    Uh oh. Dani saw Vanessa with Joey. Granted they are not the BFFs, but I do hope that that means we are getting a Dani/Vanessa scene. And I loved that we got another step in the B storyline. Doug fighting (and failing) in his addiction. Meanwhile, Vanessa resisted hers. And Joey did not look happy.    And saying the best for last. I LOVE Nicole vs Silk Press Sheila. Ooooo Nicole got under her skin good. And I loved it. I also hollered at Silk Press couldn't even be fake nice for 5 whole minutes to her. DD did soooooooo good. The body language. The looks. The inflections on just the right words. I LOOOVVVE that confrontation and looking forward to more since she clearly verbally cracked SilkPress's face. Meanwhile, I was just as taken aback at Ted showing up at Silk Press Sheila's place. I also thought it was another fantasy. Nope. And then SilkPress put the moves on him and went just a little more cray cray in the coda.    Just such a great episode.

    • Nope still in development. ABC/Disney are having their upfronts today though, so there's a very slight hope we might get an update.
    • Has anyone ever posted January and February 1974? I can't find them in the 'Look Back to 75' thread. Thanks.
    • Did January and February 1974 DSN ever get posted? I can't seem to find it in this thread.
    • I agree. Especially after SilkPress got back to her apartment and started to mock Nicole. Her dislike for Nicole and seeing her as a threat to her getting Teddy Bear is growing worse. So I could see her pulling a kidnapping on Nicole at some point. If anything she was going there to poke the bear and got pressed (pun unintended) when the bear gathered her.   Completely understandable.
