The Suzanne Rogers Appreciation Thread

She's aged with grace, dignity and beauty, and her red shoes will always glimmer.

Suzanne Rogers not only has the honor of being one of only two Emmy winners currently in the Days family (the other being Billy Warlock), she is beloved by many to be one of the backbones of Salem.

She is a joy to watch on screen, albeit briefly when we are graced with watching her, and she makes the most out of whatever material she is given.

I wish JERk, and the other IIC would utilize her gifts more often, because, as proven in the past, she is an actress of unprecedented caliber!

If you love Maggie Simmons Horton, let your voice be heard :)

I love the folksy genuinity, honesty and sincerity Suzane Rogers brings to the role. As posh as Maggie Horton is, you can tell she is still the same farm girl from Brookville.

Its a shame she's only on about twice a month. Rogers is still very foxy, she can do a whole lot better than this wobbly hobbit version of Mickey. I think DOOL should swap GH Jed Allan for John Ingle, kill off Mickey, and re-ingite Maggie's romance with Don Craig.

Suzanne Rogers Fan Here!

She is one of those characters that no matter how little she has to work with, or how bad the writing is, she always gives 100% I would love to see her in a storyline of her own. She once said in an interview that her dream storyline would be to play Maggie with D.I.D (multiple personalities) and I think she could give Slezak a run for her money. :) She is known to be the shows historian, and the writers have been known to ask her about certain facts regarding DAYS history.

Call me crazy, but I always thought Maggie and Stefano should have been more than aqaintances. Maggie would never have an affair on Mickey, but I always wanted her "friendship" with Stefano to put a strain on her marraige. It was always obvious that Steffy respected and cared for Maggie. He once called her the classiest gal in Salem. And no matter what Stefano did, Maggie was still nice to him. He was always welcome at Tuscany, and he seemed to be a sort of confidant to her. Maybe it was because she was felt in debt to him for saving her life when Tuscany blew up? It's in her nature to be a loving and caring person.

Wether she's fighing with Bonnie, telling Sami and Nicole how it is, guiding Lucas, or being a confidant to her many friends and family, she will always be the heart of Salem.

Btw

Actually there are 4 Emmy winners on Days :) but only Rogers and Warlock won for their work on DAYS.

The other two are Peggy McCay (Primetime Emmy) & Judi Evans (Supporting Atress for Guiding Light)

I have loved both Suzanne and Maggie for eons now. It's funny, though, because for years on this board, I've been singing her praises and how she needed to have a storyline, but more than a few posters were all like "enh. they haven't used her in years. I like her and all, but enh." And *then*.... Days made the choice to viciously "murder" Maggie and played SR *heavily* for the couple of months leading up to it and whaddya know! Suddenly SR fans started climbing out of the woodwork, begging for Maggie to be spared and begging for TPTB to give Maggie and SR her own storyline. It seemed like SR uberfans were born almost over night.

I enjoy saying "I told you so."

SR will always hold a place in my heart for her talent, her beauty, her class, and her bravery in the face of a crippling illness that took her away from our screens for a year.

I wonder what Maggie and Victor would be like.....

The episodes featuring Maggies "death" were heartbreaking, and honestly I think that when fans that were "eh" about her saw how amazing she was leading up to it, they realized what a gem Days was losing.

Just my opinion. ;)

I could see Maggie with Victor, that would be awesome. Good and Evil. Oh the possibilities :)

Nice, but you need to add Christie ;)

Maggie's always been one of the coolest chicks in Salem. Kate and Maggie have always been one and two in my book.

Suzanne Rogers is a true talent, and it's a shame that Days hasn't capitalized on what she has to offer.

I think my favorite Maggie relationship is the one between her and Lucas. Suzanne and Bryan play off of each other so well, and I'm so glad that Lucas was made a Horton for that sole reason.

    • I love your ideas. I would love to see Jack grown up this confused unhinged individual. He should hold a grudge against both Brooke and Taylor.

    • Lois's return has been a bust. So disappointing that the writers have never written for her. As with Tracy, the pool of GH vets is so thin, there's no one to pair her with. Doubtful they would go to the trouble of properly recasting a legacy character and then sticking  him with Lois; they're obviously not that invested. If she wants to be on this show, it'll be as a noisy grandma who stays in the background.
    • I love me some Anita and TT. They need to give her a good storyline and I know that it's coming.
    • @Franko Thanks for tagging me. A few days ago I was talking in another thread about the rise of "snarky" critics for TV shows in the '90s online recaps, but this is just more along the lines of a mauling. There's also the unspoken reality that films like Steel Magnolias were seen as movies for women, so therefore they sucked. Pauline Kael also had her share of blunt, at times incredibly nasty remarks, but the vitriol is often balanced by her love for film. I'm not seeing that here.  With that said, the comment about Field's work becoming unbearable describes how I felt when I tried to sit through her and Maura Tierney on ER.
    • I skipped most of Daniel too. I think it's awful he has kids with Nicole, Csrky5 and Chloe and Brady, Bo and Philip do not.

    • Today was very focused on Bo and his illness.  I’m liking how everything is ultimately tied together, even though everybody doesn’t know it yet. The EJ connection seems a little sudden and random though. I’m guessing that that was not on Ron’s agenda. And I’m not really sure why any of these rich people couldn’t help the hospital months ago lol  But I really like how the whole sepsis drug thing is being written a lot more realistically than what we’ve grown accustomed to with Dr. Rolf and all of his wonder drugs. They’re definitely putting more of an effort into this storyline. It feels more real.  Philip was a little whiny and self-pitying today, but I also feel like the writing has improved for him as well. He’s coming off less like a villain and more like a tragic hero. I enjoyed his scene with Stephanie and hopefully it means that at some point, we’ll get a revival of Philip/ Stephanie/Alex. Tying it to Stephanie’s novel could be really good. And, the dorkiness of Xander and Sarah was really sweet too. I’m looking forward to their weekend together and what secrets may or may not come out lol
    • "And I also want to flirt with every woman that comes my way... but then beat up anyone who talks to my wife. BECAUSE I'M A MAAAAAAAAAAAN." Give me a break with your ugly baby paintings... You're in the same category of the hacks that sell paintings with a single dot for thousands or even millions of dollars.
