DAYS: Week of April 14

I'm sorry, I gotta disagree (while agreeing) with you. Yes the show has been boring and awful but no I wouldn't compare this to JER's stuff. His worst DAYS storyline wasn't as bad as the mess that's been shoved down my eye sockets this week, not even during his second run. The show was still a bit more interesting even when his storylines were dumb. It seems like every single storyline on DAYS right now are at a creative standstill. Everything is just so humdrum and boring. I don't think I can take this anymore. The only thing that is keeping me interested is the fact that Dee Hall has a storyline (of which is boring right now but I just love her so I will endure whenever she is on). I have been fast-forwarding through every other scene. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY SHOW? WHY CAN'T DAYS BE CONSISTENT? February was so awesome and not the show has been slowly loosing steam. So frustrating!!!!!

Nah, it's not as bad as the bleeding tree stump or the badly animated skeleton kids dancing down the alley during the SSK storyline (nevermind all the other atrocities). It's just repetitive, dumb, and boring... a lot like JERk when he was toned down. IMO. It's about as bad right now as it was during winter/spring '07, which means that it's bad enough to stop watching, but not bad enough to stop watching for three years. =)

Honestly, i don't think the show is all that bad..I'm still really enjoying it..Love having Nicole back and seeing her mix it up with Victor, Phillip, Chloe, Sami, EJ, and now John..The Ava storyline got a little boring last week, but we've had a lot of action in that storyline this week..And next week is a huge week for all them...In my opinion Max and Stephanie are the only real low point of the show right now..

Well, here's some stuff Kayla has done/said recently that's just...

* While pregnant lying in a hospital bed: "I'm gonna go look for Steve!"

(This is stupid because she's pregnant and she will put her unborn baby's health at risk. If this crazy lady she knew nothing about managed to get Steve, what did she think she of all people could do about it? )

* While sneaking out of her room to visit Bo in his room at the hospital: "No Bo, I'll go look or Steve. It makes perfect sense for me to go." - Or something like that.

(Again, what I said before)

* Still in Bo's room: "On one condition. I'll go with you. You need a doctor to go with you and ha, I happen to be one."

(So Bo needs a doc with him on this "mission". If he collapses, what will she do to help him without any equipment?)

* With Bo sneaking around at the guarded Vitali properties. She's arguing with Bo about how they're gonna find Steve and Hope. Never mind Bo is a trained detective and has done this about 500 times before.

Bo: "Come on, we got to get out of here."

Kayla: "Right." Then she walk right out of the bushes were anyone can see her.

Bo: " No, this way."

Seconds later Kayla is discovered and caught by the guards looking stupid.

* When they found Steve and Hope she left the gun in reach for Ava and turn her back at it. When they were on their way out she FORGOT about it and just left.

And this is just this past week...

Steve and Kayla haven't been very popular since their return..Hogan made the mistake writing them a huge story last year with the crazy Steve storyline, that had them off in their own island on the show...Well that story bombed, and the fact that they got airtime while Bope and John and Marlena were backburned made fans very angry..So i'm very pleased that Higley did a big story with Bo, Hope, Steve and Kayla...Yes its had its faults, but i'm enjoying it for the most part..And really looking forward to Ava's father coming into the mix.

For the last couple weeks, I've been ffing through most of each episode and watching the entire show in about 10-15 minutes. The last time I did this consistently was when Dena Higley was the HW. Who's writing the show now? Awwwwww, I see a pattern!

You know, I love to bash DAYS as much as the next one, but I think its pretty good right now. I think the Steve, Kayla, Bo, Hope, Ava story is really clicking; I love the return of Nicole, I like Philip and Chloe, and well, as much as Drake's acting as JAWN makes me cringe, at least Marlena and John have a story for their fans.

There's nothing offending me. But there's nothing really exciting me now either. It's definitely watchable - but I really don't think it's any better or worse than it was in December or January. It's just "business as usual in Salem".

Although that's how I feel about most soaps these days, so I think the problem might be with ME and not with the SHOWS.

Nicole is the highlight of DAYS for me right now. I'm enjoying John, too. However, the Ava storyline (which I enjoyed at the beginning) is not working for me right now, and I think a big part of it is all the flashbacks of Ava/Patch. Their story does nothing for me, and I see no chemistry between them. Tamara Braun and her expressive face--love those eyes--is all that's keeping me marginally interested. Bo and Kayla riding to the rescue was ridiculous, not to mention very ill-advised from a medical standpoint. I hate Daniel as surfer doc, I'm bored with Chelsea's crush, EJ has lost the edge that made him so fascinating, Sami only comes alive for me when fighting with Nicole, Chloe just floats around and contributes nothing, I hate Stephanie and Max and won't watch any of their scenes, Anna is acting too immature for me to care about (although I liked the Anna/John/Marlena scenes from last week, especially when John called her on her behavior).....I wish I didn't feel this way, and I'm not giving up on a show I've watched almost my entire life, but there's just very little I'm enjoying right now. I really, truly, desperately hope that changes soon!

Great acting by Tamara, Stephen and MBE today. They're doing their best with this horrible storyline.

I liked the Morgan/Philip scenes. I hope DAYS will explore this possible pairing.

I'm tired of Chelsea/Daniel too. I have no interested in them hooking up. Yuck.

about it I think Jan is a fine supporting part for a solid daytime vet (probably someone from the P&G soaps), as opposed to someone from the production location who is clearly cheaper. Which seems to govern some casting. I get the rationale, but I would start going through the ATWT/GL, etc. rolodex myself.
    • I dont mind Jan. She's good in the minor capacity she is used.
    • tbqh I don't care about Jan, I don't care about Ashley and I think Jon Lindstrom as Joey is an acquired taste. Jon is a great actor but certain things are in his zone and then some are not. Some days I find Joey credible and compelling, but the stuff with him hanging around the Golden Corral, grumbling about Doug and bitching at Randy is not amazing. If he had material on par with what MVJ wrote for Ryan/Kevin on GH back in the day it'd be a different story. I do think he has real chemistry with Vanessa, which is in large part due to MVJ clearly molding that character (and hiring an appropriate actor) in the Lucy Coe vein when she reinvented Lucy in the '90s as well. But I am not here to spend 6+ months watching Jon glower a lot (which is what he's doing half the time to carry weak story) and make more vague dire pronouncements while Jen Jacob gets flustered and weepy over "Daddy" or whatever would come of that storyline. Putting them together sounds like a recipe for doom to me. But I may be in the minority on that.
    • I know this will never happen. But... Halle Berry as Dani Dupree(BTG). She would rock this role, it's in her wheelhouse.
    • When I see how bad the Ashley/Derek scenes are, I know there must be a larger purpose and Joey being her father is the thing that makes the most sense.  My take on it is that Ashley knows Joey is her father but doesn't know Joey. Maybe he was there when she was a child or just not around at all but I believe Jan when she says she didn't lie to her daughter about who her father was. Maybe she left him when she discovered his dangerous lifestyle.  I do think they could really jump start the character of Ashley if they hurry and do this. Jan is a great character and her scenes with Ashley have been helpful. This would further integrate Ashley into the canvas and give her something dramatic to do. With her working at the hospital along with Doug, it could lead to complications if she learns Doug is involved with her father. I just need is sooner rather than later because Derek is tanking her character. I need a distraction.

    • The stories are awful. I'm not enjoying any of them. All I'm left with is Sally in a plastic dress.
