So the Vitali's make the Dimera's look like boy scouts? Whatever. In the DAYS universe, the Dimera's are suppose to be the most powerful family. <_<

And how come Bo/Kayla don't ask Roman for help? Maybe ask Jawn too since he is a trained killer.

The most important info I got from today's episode is that Salem is now an island, based on Bo's remark that you couldn't get anywhere without crossing a bridge. Wouldn't it have just been easier to triangulate Steve's cell phone signal from when Kayla called him? They should have been able to get a fix on the closest cell phone tower to the Vitali compound.

I think Dena's disdain for the Dimeras was showing today.

Mo-ther F&^k!

This hack has now lost her mind.

ONCE AGAIN.....she is destroying a prominent family and creating a brand new one just because she doesn't want to write for them. Now we know why she backburned Stefano.....

Because the head of the Vitali family is supposed to be the NEW Stefano.

Hack.

For some reason i think Higley has different plans for Stefano. I think that soon Marlena is going to have to wake Stefano up to deal with Jawn. Additionally, Stefano is going to have to deal with the fact that John took everything that he owns, and deal with the fact that their related. Possibly eventually down the road she may be setting up for a three way Kiriakis/DiMera/Vitale war. I guess the only thing to do is just wait and see.

I saw what Bo says as nothing but merely acknowledging the threat the Vitale's represent, not as a dig against the Dimera's.

Having said that, I love the Dimera's and Stefano but there comes a time when you have to move on, especially when it comes to a villain. I'm not so sure Higley hates them. Maybe she does but it's not exactly documented, although I do think Corday does and he may feel a certain vindication in that the Vendetta story bombed because I don't think he wanted to make the Dimera's that big of a focal point again. I think he wanted to work through EJ and that was it.

It was Corday in 2003 that made the statement that they were going to be telling the Dimera story through Tony now and that Stefano wasn't needed. Dena never commented on the Dimera's nor did she write long enough for us to get an idea although I suspect what she was doing with Tony was going to be similar to what she is doing now with John, Victor, etc. She was on the Days writing team for years so she at least has an idea of what they are about and, let me just say, the stuff she is doing with the shipping actually goes back to their roots and I like it. I don't want 90's/00's Stefano because that nearly ruined him. Hogan had him on the right track and it's also important to point out that Joe is not gone yet. I would think if Days had any intention of not using him, he would be gone by now. Otherwise, why string him along? Plus, Joe is not just the type to sit around and wait. He would call or go to Days and ask if something is coming. If not or if he didn't like the answer, he would push the issue and walk. The fact that he is still with the show tells me he will be in use at some point.

I want them to build up the John aspect much more before Stefano comes back. Plus, Stefano IMO should never be a normal citizen living in the mansion. He needs to be in the shadows and needs to come and go. It is what his character is. It's his mystique...you never know when he will strike or if he is really gone or whatever. That is who Stefano is and what made him great.

Having said that, if Joe ends up leaving and Stefano is gone, I can accept that. I think Stefano may already be past the point of overkill and I like the idea of a new crime family coming on. Part of the problem with soaps is you are trying to tell stories with characters that have been around for years and there is only so much that gone be done sometimes, especially with certain characters. I'm all for new blood and a new crime family. It's fresh. New. My hope is that if Stefano leaves, they bring him out of the coma and let him go out with a blaze of glory because the coma thing would be a terrible end to a great character like him.

about it I think Jan is a fine supporting part for a solid daytime vet (probably someone from the P&G soaps), as opposed to someone from the production location who is clearly cheaper. Which seems to govern some casting. I get the rationale, but I would start going through the ATWT/GL, etc. rolodex myself.
    • I dont mind Jan. She's good in the minor capacity she is used.
    • tbqh I don't care about Jan, I don't care about Ashley and I think Jon Lindstrom as Joey is an acquired taste. Jon is a great actor but certain things are in his zone and then some are not. Some days I find Joey credible and compelling, but the stuff with him hanging around the Golden Corral, grumbling about Doug and bitching at Randy is not amazing. If he had material on par with what MVJ wrote for Ryan/Kevin on GH back in the day it'd be a different story. I do think he has real chemistry with Vanessa, which is in large part due to MVJ clearly molding that character (and hiring an appropriate actor) in the Lucy Coe vein when she reinvented Lucy in the '90s as well. But I am not here to spend 6+ months watching Jon glower a lot (which is what he's doing half the time to carry weak story) and make more vague dire pronouncements while Jen Jacob gets flustered and weepy over "Daddy" or whatever would come of that storyline. Putting them together sounds like a recipe for doom to me. But I may be in the minority on that.
    • I know this will never happen. But... Halle Berry as Dani Dupree(BTG). She would rock this role, it's in her wheelhouse.
    • When I see how bad the Ashley/Derek scenes are, I know there must be a larger purpose and Joey being her father is the thing that makes the most sense.  My take on it is that Ashley knows Joey is her father but doesn't know Joey. Maybe he was there when she was a child or just not around at all but I believe Jan when she says she didn't lie to her daughter about who her father was. Maybe she left him when she discovered his dangerous lifestyle.  I do think they could really jump start the character of Ashley if they hurry and do this. Jan is a great character and her scenes with Ashley have been helpful. This would further integrate Ashley into the canvas and give her something dramatic to do. With her working at the hospital along with Doug, it could lead to complications if she learns Doug is involved with her father. I just need is sooner rather than later because Derek is tanking her character. I need a distraction.
