Best/Worst Soap Journalists

Best

Michael Logan

His column is a must read. He's scathing and gets all the exclusive scoops. His interviews are fascinating and not devoted to fan worshipping. His writing is precise and not littered with run-on sentences and gay lingo.

Marlena Delacroix

Her website is phenomenal. She tells it like it is. A class act. Great opinions.

Worst

nelson bracco

very unprofessional. outs actors regularly. he's too busy wishing every character on soaps was gay, or force-feeding luke/noah onto everyone. extremely biased to the bells and ron carlivati, and that is why he never criticizes them (for ex. branco never brings up the lack of racial diversity in b&b or the repetitive missing heirs plots on oltl).

case in point: tacky, tactless branco once again claims that dena highley is improving in her writing because she's jealous of someone's "success." who's success you ask? why ron carlivati of course! successful ron carlivati, headwriter of oltl for not even a year yet proclaimed by branco as the new doug marland after 2 weeks! that ron carlivati, the one he hits on in every column!

LoL, this seems like a front for you to take out your displeasure for Nelson Branco.

My opinion is he's horrible. I paralleled the other soap journalists since they (delacroix and logan) are the people that actually respect the genre and act/write respectably.

nelson is a tabloid reporter compared to those 2.

I understand why people hate Branco, but he's brought energy and passion back to daytime writing.

Clearly he's a success, as TV Guide Canada is expanding his offerings constantly. Clearly, he's luring eyeballs. In the modern era, that is a success.

He himself has said he's not a journalist...more of an advocate...a "spin doctor" if you will. I find he succeeds in that role, and I enjoy what he brings.

I do enjoy both Marlena and Logan. But Marlena is a little earnest...and Logan (along with Carolyn Hinsey) brings a dry, droll voice that often feels derisive. That doesn't seem respectful.

He's not a success at tvguide canada. How can he be a success when everyone hates him and it only gets a million hits? That's puny for the internet. The fact that they're expanding the sections shows they need to grab more people. He needs to peddle his wares by putting links to his website on the different message boards since tvguide canada needs the hits and he needs the attention since he loves publicity.

he's definitely not a journalist.

he's a spin doctor for anything gay on soaps: luke/noah in particular. he's just part of the gay agenda to get luke/noah more kissing and to get hansis an emmy. he could care less about objectivism. hence no criticism for the bells and his crush ron carlivati.

logan is still the best. the fact that he has the only column in tvguide shows that logan is the definitive soap writer for tvguide everywhere.

branco is a LOSER!

Hmmm. <_< I didn't see that in my latest issue of the newsletter, was it recently added?? But I did see that they are now giving away a trip to the bahamas for every 50 new gay recruits we sign up every month! BONUS!

I will check into that agenda, though. Us gays change our minds so often, it's hard to keep up with our latest plots to take over the world.

LOL... thanks for responding to that particular quote. I was tempted to, but it would've been a lot more bitchy :D

I didn't see it in the newsletter either, but I usually just skim the articles while checking out the hot guys.

"Us gays?" I guess you did not read the threads on the marlenadelacroix article on luke/noah, or the thread on the laughable coverage of luke/noah not being allowed to kiss. if you did, you'd know i'm a queer male of color. But I'm in the minority for not liking luke/noah. And I'm appalled at the lengths people will go for luke/noah, yet not care when the same thing (panning away from a kiss) is done to queer characters of color in primetime soaps.

I have not read every thread on this board, no. However, when someone throws out the term "gay agenda", I wouldn't expect they themselves to be gay. Unless you have some gay agenda that you aren't telling the rest of us about. <_<

And I don't think that the journalist (Nelson) you mention above nor the rest of the people on this board in favor of Luke/Noah have a gay agenda. They are simply asking that the story be told as it would if it were a heterosexual couple. No agenda there.

Anyway. I'm done on this thread. Sorry everyone if it got off track.
