Well I thought todays show was great!! Love Lily in self destruction mode....lol. And Holden was finally Holden today. Loved Dusty telling Holden to get off his self righteous crap too. Man can you tell the writing is on the wall now with Dusty...lol. Every time someone threatened him we get the old duh duh duh duh music...now that was funny. However hurry up and bring me some Carjack....going through withdrawl.

1. So, will this addiction of Lily's be wrapped up again in two weeks?

2. Taking bets right now that the news of Em's hooking will never reach Tom's ears.

3. Run, Aaron, run!

4. Why, oh why, can't we be dealing with Barbara's cancer instead of this tripe? A victim I care nothing about, breaking up a couple that's barely more than a plot point, at a party dealing with a ridiculously named bio-chemistry research. *groan*

(Wonders why P.J. still watches the show.)

I loved it. Martha Byrne is great at adding layers to Lily's escapist nature. 20 years ago she would have just run away. Now she can turn to pills when she isn't satisfied. The way she tried to give Tom and Kim hints about Emily was divine. Holden is a real oddball though. He gave Lily the blame for being an addicted mess and withheld compassion before, but now her out-of-control descent is Dusty's fault entirely! Still, he was pretty sexy flying into a rage on Lily's behalf. To make Lucinda a suspect in Dusty's demise in that regard is doubly silly. But my biggest gripe is not knowing what Memo 21 is all about. This plot is the equivalent of mystery meat, and I'm not eating until I know what Chris and Evan's motivations are. Gosh, I mostly wonder when Chris' voice is going to change! Susan's absence was strange...

I know good and well that you saw Wednesday's show, because you posted in the thread about it.

I forgot to mention the insanity of Chris calling Emily's tryst with Dusty a DEALBREAKER! No, not her vajayjay becoming Oakdale's latest tourist attraction. Only getting boned by his worst enemy could be offensive.

Who's writing the show now, anyway?

Letting a bunch of twenty-somethings backtalk her is not watching her cancer story unfold. The two minute scene with Lisa was a nice nod to history....but I want the action centered on Barbara. And more than once a week.

"Centered on Barbara?" Do you want her all alone or something? I don't get it. In this phase of the story, the cancer (which hasn't even been called cancer yet) is her secret. Yes, she should be on more, but it's only sensible to display the state of her relationships with the very people she's afraid of confessing to. My big gripe is that Barbara has lent NO support to Kim during Bob's health crisis.

No, I don't want her alone. But there's nothing at stake for her to keep this secret, other than working the pity factor. (It doesn't help that they just had Carly do the same thing not too long ago...) Watching her get slapped down by Will and Sophie...that's interesting?? We (okay, I...) don't really need a reminder that the state of relations with her kids is bad...it's always in the toliet. I understand (or could) that she wouldn't want to tell Kim, given Bob's hospitalization. But not telling Lisa? WTF? It's not like they're on the outs, unless we're supposed to believe everyone in town disapproved of her role in trying to get Willen a baby, especially now that they have the very child she tried to arrange for them to get anyway.

Perhaps Babs should be forced into attending a public event where she's forced to risk other people hearing her impediment. Then again, Lisa is no spring chicken and even she could hear it, yet Will hasn't noticed a thing yet! Thank goodness we won't have to endure a secret positive diagnosis too. The biggest problem in filtering this through Barbara's isolation is her long drought without a man. Damn, can't somebody flash a little chest hair in her direction?

    • PREACH Victor being written as he was 20 years ago to support EB's ego or some misguided belief that what worked decades ago is still relevant is destroying the show. Victor comes off as a rambling old fool holding on to vendettas and a desperate need for perceived power. His children still cow-towing to him makes them look equally foolish. If the writing portrayed Victor as  more of an irritant to them then maybe it would work.
    • They desperately need another meeting spot that isn’t Orphy Genes or the Country club. Y&R is awful now but there’s at least GCAC, Crimson Lights, Society, and the Jazz room at GCAC to meet at. 4 places is definitely better than 2 and I can’t imagine these rich folks literally only eat at their damn country club.
    • I support all of this. 80 year old Victor reading lines off the table or teleprompter until it’s time to yell at someone and still being the main man driving story on the show is absolutely ridiculous to me and one of the biggest issues with the show. I respect Braeden for wanting to keep working in his old age is great and all, but WHY IS HE THE LEAD?
    • I believe they said 27 sets. We have not seen that many maybe around 20. Perhaps they meant they have space for that number. I would like to see another meeting place -maybe a restaurant that could fit in b/w Orphy's and the Country Club. Casual but classy. Jacob/Naomi need a living room and it would be good if Vern/Anita had a smaller study/library so they're not always in the same room. I guess budget plays a part. For example, maybe the plan is for Jacob/Naomi to get a home down the track when they become more prominent. I really hope that outdoor sets come into use. A terrace at the Country Club or a few shopfronts-a park maybe. Speculation re June. I would go with a Hayley connection as she needs something else to do apart from whining to Bill. June could  provide some conflict cos I don't see Bill being that interested in having her around. He could try to buy her off, upsetting Hayley or she could overhear/uncover some dirt on Bill so he's forced to keep her around. The parents of Tyrell/Samantha can be held for down the track along with the mystery of Andre's parents. The advantage of a new show is that there is so much from character's pasts that can be used. An ex for Vernon or Anita and various relatives to come out of the woodwork.
    • Oh god I haven’t gotten to that episode yet, you have to be [!@#$%^&*].ing kidding me. I will say to my surprise, the Danny actor no longer bothers me. He has actually improved quite a bit.
    • I hear what you are saying, but I feel there is definitely an opportunity for improvement. If the set problem is to remain, then the whole focus has to change. Business has to take a back seat if there are no sets available to support story. As I have said before return to Jabot and have a number of characters working and interacting there. They seem super reluctant to do it but Victor needs to be a more supporting character.  Eric Braeden seems determined to carry on and that is of course admirable, but keeping Victor as this dominating force has been detrimental. Have a sweet reunion of Sharon and Nick and marry them off for good. Bring on Faith and I'd even have Adamson back as Noah at this point to support Nick/Sharon in a parenting role. They really need to bite the bullet and drop one of the following -Billy, Chelsea, Phyllis or make them recurring like Abby/Ashley with appearances or short term stories when appropriate. Free up some space for new or returning characters- Noah, Allie, Fen, Moses, even a recast Dylan.
    • Today was really boring. I get we needed to have Martin accepting Eva but man I needed some Leslie today. Anita being hung up on was intriguing though.
    • Yup, that's John Mahoney, a few months before the star-studded 1986 production of The House of Blue Leaves. Also, God bless TPTB for thinking that a circus storyline was gonna grab the hearts and attention of viewers.
    • I don't think we have. I suspect @Paul Raven could confirm it for sure.  ETA: off the top of my head, I counted 13 sets (counting the hotel room Doug/Vanessa made up in separate from the hotel room Ted is in unless it was refashioned).
