I 2nd both of these fine posts. :D;)

Add me as another 2nd.

I think Faux News and MSNBC are both in the tank by the way. But back on track. Robo-calling is repulsive, and the terrorist link is just shameful.

They are so misunderstood, Wales! Don't you see how the liberal MSM has been demeaning them and their righteous cause? They are the only True Americans. And they have been lambasted by the hate-mongering, angry left for so long all because of their fair-minded, undiscriminatory policies! <_<<_<

Cry me a river.

I feel this way....skip the announcement and be gone.

It looks like your governor doesn't want to be best friends with McCain. First he skipped out on him to go to Disneyworld and now he's saying the GOP may be exaggerating about voter fraud. What will Charlie do next????

Well the goal is to scare people into voting for McCain which is a really sad way to get people to support him.....fear. I hope that backfires.

All those people who keep saying McCain isn't going to raise taxes....what do they call taxing healthcare benefits?

Yeah, Charlie is a bitter queen since McCain chose Palin. For a while there, he was doing anything and everything he could to get the VP slot, including FINALLY popping the question to his "long-time girlfriend". ;);) Now that he's stuck in Tallahassee, I don't think that marriage is gonna take place! :P

As far as Republicans go, he hasn't been too bad. But then again, all the heavy GOP-lifting was done by Jeb. When Crist took over, there was nothing left to do for the base.

Well, fear worked in 2004. That and smear tactics. Ya know what they say...if it ain't broke, don't fix it! I'm really getting tired of wondering aloud how anyone can support a party that stoops to this level just to get elected. It is sad.

Obama mentioned McCain's taxation of healthcare in the debates and hasn't really let up on it while he's on the stump. Hopefully people are paying attention and are not all wrapped up in "Joe The Plumber".

It's really sickening how this thread has just turned into a one-sided rant against McCain and Palin. The vicious smears that many have hurled towards McCain and Palin are well beyond what is acceptable discourse, and are completely unforgiveable. Honestly, the garbage that is consistently spewed in this thread is every bit as vile as the things one would read on far-left blogs like moveon.org or dailykos.com.

It is so damn frustrating to try to argue with others when your own viewpoint happens to be in the minority by about a factor of 25 to 1. I'm sure this is why the other few conservatives on the board--Kwing42, WoSTBrian/GoldenDogs, and Casey008--have decided to stop posting here. As of now, I am going to join them and disappear from this thread.

I sincerely hope that this thread is locked ASAP, because it has certainly outlived its usefulness. I truly regret being the one who created it.

Bye.

Oh, and Max, let me say this.

Debating is one thing. Arguing is something else.

Telling outright lies is the ultimate, and having to constantly say the same things over and over again because someone doesn't want to listen is very old and very childish.

And now, to practice the free speech we all have, you want the thread to be locked because you, personally, don't like the dialouge.

Well, Max, if you were to have shared your views with us alot more often, maybe you would have gotten your point across.

But it got REALLY F-ING OLD to constantly be told something is wrong with you when you won't believe whatever lies are told.

So, take it easy. You're always welcome, but I now feel I don't owe anyone an explanation of my thoughts when they are too selfish and arrogant to actually listen to what I have to say.

Take it easy.

I will be very interested in what Colin Powell has to say on Sunday.

Powell ready to endorse?Posted: 11:20 AM ET

From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney

Colin Powell might finally announce which candidate he supports on NBC's Meet the Press this weekend.

(CNN) – Is Colin Powell set to make a long-anticipated endorsement?

The former Secretary of State under President Bush, who has been coy about who he will support this November, will appear on NBC's Meet the Press this weekend, the network has announced.

Rumors have long swirled that Powell, the first African-American Secretary of State, is leaning toward backing Obama.

NBC is staying mum on what Powell will say: "[He] will break his recent silence and share his views on a variety of important issues," the network said.

A source close to Powell wouldn't say if an endorsement would come Sunday.

"Stay tuned," the source said.

Powell suggested last month he had yet to make up his mind.

The election of an African-American president “would be electrifying,” Powell told a George Washington University audience, “but at the same time [i have to] make a judgment here on which would be best for America.

Watch: Powell: I'm undecided

“I have been watching both individuals, I know them both extremely well, and I have not decided who I am going to vote for. And I'm interested to see what the debates are going to be like because we have to get off of this ‘lipstick on a pig’ stuff and get into issues,” he said.

High court rejects GOP in Ohio voting dispute

Republicans had won order that state do more to check eligibility

BREAKING NEWS

updated 11:56 a.m. ET Oct. 17, 2008

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court sided Friday with Ohio's top elections official in a dispute with the state Republican Party over voter registrations.

The justices overruled a federal appeals court that had ordered Ohio's top elections official to do more to help counties verify voter eligibility.

Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat, faced a deadline of Friday to set up a system to provide local officials with names of newly registered voters whose driver's license numbers or Social Security numbers on voter registration forms don't match records in other government databases.

Story continues below ↓advertisement

Ohio Republicans contended the information for counties would help prevent fraud. Brunner said the GOP is trying to disenfranchise voters.

In a brief unsigned opinion, the justices said they were not commenting on whether Ohio is complying with a provision of the Help America Vote Act of 2002 that lays out requirements for verifying voter eligibility.

Instead, they said they were granting Brunner's request because it appears that the law does not allow private entities, like the Ohio GOP, to file suit to enforce the provision of the law at issue.

About 200,000 of 666,000 voters who have registered in Ohio since Jan. 1 have records that don't match. Brunner has said the discrepancies most likely stem from innocent clerical errors rather than fraud but has set up a verification plan.

Man, you know all of the recent self-imposed outcasts will be back with a vengence! Since Powell is such a centrist, it's not a given on whom he will endorse and that's one of the reasons (I believe) his endorsement will carry a lot of weight with independents. He's a very well respected man and deservedly so, IMHO.

I too am disappointed with those of opposing views feeling incomfortable here. I always looked forward Casey's post because I knew his opinion differed from mine. He at times brought good arguments to the table. I don't think anyone here attacked McCain or Palin personally. I know outrage was expressed at certain campaign procedures.

I just ask you all who feel incomfortable posting here to think back to the time when dissenting opinion was considered traitorous. Remember, you are either with us or against us. Fear of being labeled different prevented people from speaking out.

This forum, in my opinion, has allowed people to freely express their views. I'm sorry if some feel otherwise.

If he endorses McCain, I can't blame him. He is going through something very difficult. He will condemned no matter who he picks, and if he chooses no one, then the reaction may be worse, because many may see it as Powell running from a duty to choose and voice his opinion.

And UCLAN, unfortunately, there have been personal attacks on Palin and McCain. I myself have said some things about McCain I regret, and am sorry for. I have seen Palin called a bitch in this thread, and that's is way out of bounds. No one needs to resort to name calling to get their point across, and I satnd at the head of that line.

But, by the same token, I have heard Obama called a terrorist, said he wasn't a natural born American, therefor he cannot be POTUS, called a socialist, that McCain was right to feel bigotry towards the Vietamese people, etc. Now, I would hope that those who used those words would step forward and also admit that their actions were out of bounds.

I have yet to see that.

So.........what must we all do? Maybe stop being so hypocritical, for those whom this applies to, and see if we can move on.

But, to shut down disenting opinion, like you said..........what kind of America is that?

KO did say she said Alan Keyes.

McCain was very funny at that Alfred E. Smith dinner. Rachel Maddow mentioned that it didn't take place in 2004 because John Kerry was at odds with the Catholic Church. I wonder if Joe Biden's position on abortion matters....I know he's out here doing Leno, Ellen, and fundraisers.

Go Rays!!! If all goes well I won't have to hear about the Red Sox coming back from being down three games tomorrow.

I saw the Alfred Smith dinner. It was good. It allowed us to see both candidates as everyday people laughing and joking. It was good to see that and realize that they are people capable of laughter and compassion. Can you imagine if those qualities had leaked into this campaign? (especially McCain) How different would this race be if we saw both candidates in a positive light?

I will be praying to the baseball gods for a Boston defeat. Coming back after being down 7-0!!!!!!!! Someone got to the gods before me. I have to work harder!!!!

Excellent post, my friend. I'm impressed that you can admit to your mistakes and do it so publicly. And this isn't the first time you've done something like this. :):):)

You are awesome in my book.

When Ortiz hit that homer, that just took the sails right out of the Rays.

They better win tomorrow night. If not, it's over for them.
