Obama has unveiled an economic plan today.

This is just further proof that Obama is genuinely looking for ideas to fix the economy, while McCain is still stuck on character destruction. But that dog don't hunt. People want to hear about the issues, not who did what with whom.

I like the penalty-free withdrawals from 401(k) and the moratorium on foreclosures. The other two points like tax breaks for companies that create new jobs here and loans to state governments, I would have to look at a little more closely.

Perhaps. However, just the simple mention of his name is enough, in my mind, to have the single-minded, less educated voter casts doubt on a vote for Obama. The fact that the Republican's are calling Ayers a terrorist that they have not prosecuted is another good argument. But one that will surely fall silent for a voter that is just out for a sound bite to sway his/her vote one way or the other, don't you think?

I think the type of people who fall for this nonsense were going to vote for McCain anyway or maybe not vote at all. I don't think there is a large pool of undecided voters....now there may be some that are reluctant to vote for either and are still wrestling with the idea and I think the majority of those probably fall into the category of being unhappy with McCain but not really wanting to vote for Obama.

Money is going to be the decisive factor for many of those people. The LA Times Parade newsmag printed a tax benefit/cost table yesterday that basically shows that most people aren't going to save more money in taxes with McCain. They showed a solid discrepancy between Obama and McCain on each tier until you get over $112,000. After $250,000 the savings advantage goes to McCain and taxes don't quite double with Obama until you earn over $3 million. I doubt the average person can relate to that though.

Early voting is starting here in Florida as well. I know my boyfriend's Mom has already cast her vote. Like CA, FL has some nefarious propositions on the ballot that will help to intice voters to the polls on Election day, but my argument was primarily toward states that may not have these issues at stake.

I guess it depends on how many obstacles those voters face in getting to the polls and voting as to whether they skip it or not.....like terrible weather. I think that there has been such an urgency that I doubt that a significant number of Obama supporters are going to take the polls as a sign not to vote. If these are people that learn about the polls via the media then they also hear the media constantly ask what Obama has to do to win or to maintain so even though McCain may be using the underdog tag, they probably still see that Obama is the underdog with the media.

I wasn't aware that someone got banned for disagreeing with another. Obviously I missed that one and would completely agree with you on that point.

Nobody has been banned or suspended and certainly nobody has been banned for simply disagreeing. LOL

I just hope that people who said they going to vote for Obama going to vote.

Also they trying to make Obama name sound like he a terrorist. Ya'll know the meaning of Obama middle name right it means Handsome or Beloved. Both name fits him to me. spread the word they don't have to be afraid of Obama middle name.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (CNN) -- There are phone calls from Democratic and labor union phone banks.

Union households get glossy mailings with white working families offering testimonials to Barack Obama.

Literature is handed out at union halls and during shift changes at union plants and factories.

But sometimes, Gerry McEntee says, it takes a blunt face-to-face encounter to deal with those who say they can't support the Democratic presidential nominee because of the color of his skin.

McEntee is president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and a leader in the AFL-CIO's $200 million 2008 election program. Speaking at a labor rally in Ohio recently, his frustration about the reluctance, or refusal, of some white union members to support Obama spilled into the open.

"When it gets real bad, and they never -- with this one -- look you in the eye, 'Well, I can't vote for him,' " McEntee told the diverse union audience. "This doesn't even come out in code -- it comes out like this: 'I can't vote for him because he is a black man. He's not one of us.' Well, sisters and brothers, when you hear that, you know what you ought to say? This is what I say: 'That is bull----! That is total, absolute bull----!' The AFL-CIO says its campaign will include 70 million phone calls to union households in key presidential and congressional battleground areas, as well as 25 million mail pieces.

Some of those rebut persistent rumors that Obama isn't a Christian, or wasn't born in the United States -- or was sworn in to the U.S. Senate with his hand on a Quran, not a Bible. (The mailing shows Obama being sworn in by Vice President Cheney, his hand on a Bible.)

That those rumors persist so close to Election Day frustrates the Obama campaign and its allies.

"You go and you talk to a member -- I've talked to some -- 'Do you support Barack Obama? You know his record, his record is good for working men and women,"' McEntee relates.

The member might answer, "'Gerry, I know, I like you, but he's a Muslim. Barack Obama is a Muslim,' " McEntee says. "But he's not even a Muslim, he's a Christian!"

Democrats across Ohio and other key battleground states increasingly voice confidence the troubling economic news is boosting Obama's support in the white, working-class areas where the impact of the race issue worries them most.

But they also concede much of this support is soft -- more a rejection of Republican economic policies than a warm embrace of Obama. That's one of the reasons labor unions are dedicating substantial resources to targeting voters for whom race is or could be an issue.

McEntee drew laughter when he framed the stakes this way:

"We have got to seize this opportunity, seize this opportunity like never before, never before. And we have got to make so sure, so sure, that the day after election -- now, this is one message that you could hear the day after election, one of them: 'All labor leaders, to all labor leaders to report to Yankee Stadium. We are putting you on a ship to go to Guantanamo.'

"That is one message that you could hear if you want to hear that message. I will probably be one of the first people on that ship. I don't want to hear that message," he said.

"The other message that you can hear if you work like hell, and you do the job that you can, you will hear the message that America is free again, America is free and free at last. It is up to you."

I saw Barack Obama speak this weekend in Philadelphia. After the speech, he worked the crowd for a while and then went into a diner. The crowd waited for him to emerge from the diner, but he left through the back parking lot.

What he then did was amazing: instead of driving out with his motorcade, he actually walked down the street (which was blocked off) and met with all the residents in the neighborhood. He came to them. He WALKED down the street and the motorcade followed him.

I think McCain is a decent man, but he's just really out of touch with what most americans want for this country.

Saw somebody on Lou Dobbs that said all ACORN registrations should be thrown out. But wouldn't that be screwing the people that they legitimately registered?

Lou Dobbs has become such a gas bag. ACORN has to turn in voter registrations. They do not have the option of throwing those out that they believe to be fraudulent. They do tag them. My question to gas bags like Lou Dobbs is how many good registrations has ACORN turned it relative to the number of bad applications? Second, did ACORN flag many of the disputed applications that are being discussed now?
