Damn! Newt the Nuke is taking aim at his own party. All I have to say is this made the GOP look pretty bad. I know people say that the public was overwhelmingly against this, but I'm not seeing it. I know that people who were against it called Congress, but people I talk to say things like they did not know the effect not passing the bill would have on average joes. They thought it was just saving fat cats.

That is the good and the bad. Had Congress passed the bill, no one would have known that it was a good thing. Now Congress did not pass the bill, the stock market went into a free fall and now the public blames Congress for not having the courage to pass the bill. Tis a mess.

You know, I do not get the McCain/Palin team. Do they really think that banning the media is a good thing? Even conservatives like Maureen Dowd. Drudge likes Maureen Dowd. She's consistent. Amazing. I just think everything McCain is doing these days, he's doing out of anger. The unfortunate thing is I still think he has a very good chance of winning this election. I truly worry about the gap between registered voters and likely voters. I also worry about the "Bradley Effect". Can you imagine John McCain bringing the decision making skills he has displayed the past two weeks to the White House?

It was ill-timed. But, as bad as it comes off, here's my thing....

They never listened to her before. NOW you do? Ignore the woman!

And NG? I wonder what tree stump he's hiding under this morning? I was watching that live when she said that, and the guy who said "Surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise" had me rolling. Gingrich torpedoed his own party for his selfish gain.

The RP is just imploding right before my eyes.

Well now I can rejoice at the thought of Newt Gingrich running for President in four years.

I don't care about polls because I don't think they're accurate whether or not people tell the truth when polled.....though in some cases they can be informational.

The election will come down to the economy because as we get closer to the end of next month, people will become more concerned about the holidays and what they can afford to do.

I would have agreed with you on McCain's chances before Palin but I think some of the people that absolutely don't want to vote for Obama aren't likely to vote for McCain because of Palin. People with extreme racist convictions may choose racism over the economy but I think the number that is likely to do that is going to start to go down.....they just won't tell their friends.

I do not think bigots would support the Democratic Party period. Maybe the bigots will stay at home. I hope so. You know though bigots are stupid and they probably are too stupid to be offended by McCain's cynical selection of Palin. Oh, let me make it perfectly clear that I do not think that McCain panders to bigots, nor do I think most of the Republican Party pander to bigots. I just think Democrats are tied in to the civil rights movements and are advocates of civil rights for people of color, low income people and gays and lesbians.

I was thinking more along the lines of some of them not voting. I don't think bigots are all stupid. I think there are those who are ignorant about certain things....race being one of them.

There are Democrats who are like that as well and I think those that are not as extreme and may just have an issue with "change" might come around depending on the effects the economy has on them.

I don't think the Republican party panders to bigots either but I do think that bigots are more attracted to that party than the other. Part of that is because the Republican party looks more exclusive and the label that they are the party of the rich. Even though there are plenty of rich Democrats, the civil rights connections make them appear the more inclusive party.

OOOPS, I was wrong and Casey was right. The Senate can vote on the rescue package first. I thought it was a revenue bill and they have to originate in the House.

My boo boo.

I think John McCain and Barack Obama would be well-served to never mention the other in ad for the remainder of this campaign. McCain has not had a positive ad -- well I can not remember him ever having a positive ad. It's just exhausting.

I still don't think it makes any sense for the Senate to waste time voting on something that will require a re-vote since the hurdle remains with the House.

IA with you on the ads....especially the negative ones.

I just read this a little while ago:

The ESF has about $50.1 billion, $50 billion of which it made temporarily available on the 19th to guarantee deposits in certain money market funds so they probably won't be able to do much "as creatively as possible."

The big irony is the housing bill was sponsored by none other than Nancy Pelosi with no bipartisan support, and there's a possibility that what McCain is suggesting could bankrupt the FHA.

    • I don't think Josh Swickard's voice is horrible or anything, but the show makes it seem like he could just casually take up a singing career if he felt like it because he's that talented.  He's not.  I am not sure he would even be able to be a backup singer on Broadway or in most bands. I thought DZ was the worst of all the dancers, but adorably so.  You could tell this wasn't in DZ's wheelhouse and it was fun.  On the very light-hearted end of the Nurses Ball shindig.  Gio Mazza continues to impress.  What a find.  It's a shame it took the show an entire year to give him any meaty material.  While Joss was off playing spy games on air way too long. The violin smashing was perfectly in character with someone related to Sonny lol.  Nature vs Nurture.  The Corinthos side won.
    • Today was excellent soap. I had no problem with GM’s performance. I watch soaps for big dramatic blowups like that. What a great cliffhanger. God I’m so ready for all of Drew’s misdeeds to come out. He is so damn slimy. Also I hope absolutely no one is there for Willow’s dumb ass when this all blows up. As everyone has pointed out Tracy would never be stupid enough to just leave ketamine sitting in her car. PCPD continues to be complete morons.
    • Well, I'll say this much...I've been gone for months and my first tune in...nice to see FOINE Isaiah as the first image I saw.   And I'm actually impressed by how much Drew is running/scheming/manipulating everything and everyone in sight. Cuz he's teamed up with TRACY now? TRACY??? Who he was slapsticky feuding with months ago. And seems to have a countermove for every person against him now...which now takes up almost all the whole canvas vs just a limited part of it months ago.    He really has risen to...mmmm not quite Stefano Dimera evil...yet...but Mitch Laurence manipulation?? That's quite a leap in three months. Again...impressed.
    •   Josh Swickard has a more than passable voice. His performance of "Smooth Criminal" a few years ago showed he has talent. But damn, this wasn't it. That song (a Swickard original?) was lame and awful, and the accompaniment by 3 non-professional dancers was...a choice. The entire thing was pretty cringe and a big YIKES. As for Dominic Zamprogna, I thought he was the BEST of the 3 dancers. JK and SW were stuck onstage without a net.   -- The Gio reveal was great soap. The Nurses Ball backdrop was the perfect place for that to happen, and reason enough for the NB to exist. I'll take that kind of cliffhanger any day of the week.     Lots of comments here about GM getting too loud and dramatic, but I like the choice, and I think it worked. It played against type. Gio was onstage performing, and he gave us a real performance.      We seem to love all the soap traditions being brought back to life on BTG, but when GH does it with the violin smashing, then it's too much? That scene gave us a moment.   For me, I can put aside how many rootable characters are on a soap when the drama is good -- and I think we're getting good drama. And isn't Gio rootable? Emma? Liz? Dante was rootable until he went on a "Destroy Gio" tour the past couple weeks. Besides, it depends on your definition of "rootable." I think Tracy is rootable even though she is deeply flawed and makes a lot of mistakes.
    • Same. I didn't want to jump in until the writing change, but I got busy. I've been doing other things, but I've been really enjoying DAYS today so far. And grateful my internet is going great. And highlight today was seeing Dr. Marlena Evans for the first time in years. Oh, how I've missed her. Still am not ready for John though. I know I'm going to be a mess.

GH...I was feeling nostalgic for the Nurses Ball and I liked the promo for it. So I figured I can push down my dislike of The Writer Who Shall Not Be Named enough to tune in. For a week at least. lol. It seems like...from the few comments I choose to look at cuz...no spoilers but that one hehe...it is going to be a good but fun event. And let's be real...we know I want to see the Carly slap...looooong time coming.
    • Thurs sees Lily and Damian at GCAC spending an entire episode talking. Nate and Audra at Society talking-but wait Kyle and Claire arrive, so they have someone else to talk to for the entire episode. Amanda at CL talking to Devon and Abby for the entire episode.  The Young in the Restaurants continues...
    • And it also could've played into Dani's characterization as well, with her being the middle child.
    • Awwwwww Gio

The violin smash was a little bit much though  But he blew me away in the rest of his scenes. He played the anger and devastation so well. GM is definitely as talented an actor as he is a musician. In terms of acting, this really was like his first chance to shine and he shined pretty brightly. And on his birthday too no less lol maybe he can be the next Nicholas Chavez. He definitely acted circles around another younger actor, who's subpar AF but is constantly shoved down our throats like she's Meryl Streep  I can't wait for tomorrow to see what happens for him, for Dante/Brook Lynn, for Lois, Lulu, Emma, etc. Hopefully, Lulu gets a slap or a punch, at least. And yeah, can this show stop f*cking mentioning Stone, please? After what they did to Jagger, they have no right to even speak his name anymore
    • I’m doing both as well. I have all of May to catch up on with Days but it’s been so enjoyable post RC I’m actually excited.
