Yep..

The vote Wednesday for the re-worked initial bill ..will be used as a "feeler" for what the Senate wants to do...Even though the House will have to re-vote on a re-worked bill later..The House still has time to re-work the bill before the Senate vote on Wednesday...

She blamed the mess on Bush's tax policies. She also said that he had inherited a surplus and turned it into a historic deficit. It's not anything new. It was ill-timed, but I have a hard time believing that Republicans would vote against a Republican's president's intiative -- one the Republican president said was necessary to save the economy -- only because the Democratic House Speaker said bad things about the Republican president.

I think the Democrats decided it was not there job alone to bail out the Republican president. They said from the very beginning that they would work with Bush and Paulson but it was Bush's job to line up Republican support.

The bill is a appropriation bill. It has to originate in the House. The Senate can not do anything until after the House.

This is ridiculous..! What exact Bush policy can be pointed to, that would substatiate this?

I just saw an Obama ad on CNN that pretty much said the same thing...Corporate greed...loose regulation on Wall Street..etc..

There are specific legislative measures that can be used to lay this problem directly in the lap of the Democratic Party...The CRA!..The Dems pushed banks, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and other Wall Street entities to support these bad loans hoping that the housing bubble would hold the value of properties...its not a problem of deregulation, greed, the free market or Wall Street! This was caused by legislation...now they want to pass more legislation to correct the problem..I'm getting sick of this!

I surely hope that McCain brings this up in the next debate. If he doesn't he is a moron and doesn't deserve to be elected! Plain and simple~!

The House has until Wednesday to iron out the wrinkles. The Senate will vote on the bill regardless, on Wednesday...they have alloted the call for the Senate at that time...it doesn't matter what happens in the House before Wednesday, pass or fail, the Senate is scheduled in two days.

The bill has been introduced to the Senate floor and is on the Docket. Also, the Senate can vote before the House if they want....however, the bill would have to be reworded slightly to allow a re-vote to take place in the House..

If anyone should take issue with her, it should be Bush since she put him down. She only mentioned the Republicans once and not in a manner that justifies their using her words as an excuse.

IA with them on that and had the President been Democrat, I would agree with the Republicans taking the position that the Democrats are taking. If what I heard on CNN and MSNBC is accurate, the Democrats delivered the number of votes they said they would. The Republicans voted 2 to 1 against it and since they are concerned about their constituents' stance then they need to come up with a bill that they feel works better. They are taking this as an opportunity to do nothing and blame the Democrats if it passes and blame them if it fails. If they cannot come up with a solution then they need to be quiet about the results.

And that's how it should be. It would make no sense at all for the Senate to waste time voting on a bill that is going to have to be modified in order for it to pass the House.

I was wondering how long it would be before McCain blamed this all on Obama and it didn't take long. I personally don't think either one should be blamed.....especially since I'd expect them both to have more influence in the Senate than the House.

But......McCain "suspended" his campaign to get this done and his people were out giving him credit for reaching a deal yesterday. Now that went belly up so he's blaming Obama for not doing anything. McCain said he didn't want to phone it in so he went in person. Obama said he'd been making phone calls. More Democrats voted in favor it than against it. More Republicans voted against it than in favor. If McCain doesn't want to take the blame for not getting through to the Republicans then he should not blame Obama since Obama didn't make any promises, guarantees, claims or suggestions about the plan at all.

LMAO, Palin just needs to read cue cards from now on, if she can't can't say anything intelligent she shouldn't say anything at all in public at least. Biden is gonna mop the floor with her when they debate. I really hope white women are watching these interviews and horrible responses to the press, she is no hillary clinton, and its about time they realized this (I mentioned white women because obama is losing ground with them since palin came on board).

Casey how do you feel about Palin since her last horrible string of interviews and talks with the press?

I didn't feel her interview with Couric was that bad. Couric pressured her with a question that she took the answer away from her on...She asked her for an example on John McCain calling for regulation...Palin gave an answer..then Couric asked for a second example...continually...The interview was conducted in a lousy and unfair manner, IMO..

She then kept asking that same question. The media then singled out the clip of her remark about "getting back to her"...Palin did this as a way of shutting her up..JMO

Actually thats not the part I thought was bad, I thought the worst part was when she couldn't come up with a good excuse for comments she made about being able to see russia from her house; the other part I thought was bad was her comments about putin/russia trading with alaska. There was nothing wrong with the way Katie Couric handled the interview, when you are in a government position or potential position you need to have clear and concise answers on the spot, she just comes up with dumb replies or doesn't answer the quesition at all. Katie is not to blame for Palin not being able to come up with good answers. I have a real problem with someone that could be the potential VP of the U.S. seeming like she doesn't know what shes talking about and it really reflects badly on McCain.

    • Pete T Rich article undated from Berkshire Style website According to wikipedia All My Children Script Writer: 1994 - 1996 Days of Our Lives Script Writer: 1993, October 4, 2011 – July 27, 2012 Guiding Light Script Writer: 1984 - 1993, 1997–1999 Passions Script Writer: 1999 - 2008 Santa Barbara Script Writer: 1993 Welcome to the Soaps by Joseph Montebello Before there were miniseries and weekly comedy hours, there were soap operas. Those wonderful half-hour segments that came on every day, five days a week and captured the hearts of women and men alike. And if you are as old as I am, you will remember soaps on the radio. Every day I would arrive home from school and find my mother absorbed in the trials and tribulations of Backstage Wife or Stella Dallas or Lorenzo Jones. I knew enough to go quietly to my room as my mother sat totally absorbed in the dialogue. Thanks to writers such as Pete Rich, television soap operas reigned supreme for many many years and some of the memorable characters he wrote for are still remembered fondly. Born in Atlanta, Rich moved to New York after college with the dream of becoming a comedy writer. “My friend Gail Lawrence and I were in this together,” he said, “and we had an interview with a man at ABC comedy development. He told us that one had to live in Los Angeles in order to write comedy for television. So off we went, only to discover that Bob Hope was looking for writers.” In the category of “too good to be true,” Rich and his friend did, indeed, get a job writing for Hope and, at 25 years old, they were the youngest writers he had ever employed. Unfortunately, a writers’ strike brought everything to a halt, so Rich and Lawrence moved back to New York. As luck would have it, the man from ABC who had encouraged them was now at NBC, and was looking for writers for a soap called The Doctors. “In the ’80s, when television soap operas were in their prime, they had a captive audience of housewives and college kids,” said Rich. “The shows got huge ratings and, compared to prime time shows, they were cheap to produce. The profits were staggering and it was rumored that daytime paid for prime time.” That was the beginning of Rich’s stellar career in the soaps which lasted almost 30 years. He will share his favorite memories of life on the soaps at the Women’s Forum, at the Litchfield Community Center Thursday, March 2nd, at 2:30 PM. In addition to The Doctors, he penned scripts for Guiding Light, listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running drama in television in American history—it was broadcast on CBS for 57 years—All My Children; Days of Our Lives; Santa Barbara, and Passions, Rich’s favorite show. His talent was acknowledged with six Daytime Emmy Awards and two awards from the Writers Guild of America. With such a stellar career, Rich has written many classic scenes and memorable dialogue and being asked to mention just one is like asking a mother to choose her favorite child. “Soaps opera lovers may remember what is considered one of the classic moments of daytime television when Reva Shayne on Guiding Light took off her clothes in a public fountain and baptized herself “the Slut of Springfield” to her crippled boyfriend, Josh. The speech went on for about five minutes as Reva basically had a meltdown. Actress Kim Zimmer won an Emmy for her acting and the episode itself received an Emmy as well. In true soap fashion, after Reva was taken home, she woke up in bed to find Josh watching her from his wheelchair. They made love, she cured his paralysis and made it rain–so potent a woman was she.” In their prime, soap operas managed to combine reality with incredibly convoluted plots and character studies. Where else could one find tortured men and women who fell in love, suffered infidelities, murder, lust, mysteries, lies, and secrets? “I think the days of soaps are really behind us,” said Rich. “The Internet has allowed everyone access to everything at anytime. And life has become so fast-paced that few people have five afternoon hours a week to devote to a show. Plus, reality TV, You Tube, and social media all entertain people in a customized way. Today what’s on the news is more outrageous and shocking than any soap ever was.” But we all have memories of those days when soaps held us rapt for that magical hour every day. Rich retired from writing for television and now spends his time decorating houses, designing gardens and writing fiction for fun.
    • I found the ATWT reference to be cleverly done and I enjoyed it. I thought this was another great episode. I'm starting to love Jacob and Naomi as the grounded good guys. June has brought the best out of both of them and both of them have made Derek more bearable.
    • I'm glad she got to Jamey fast and the issue was corrected. I wasn't sure if somebody had hacked his account or not, but turns out it was just an error.  Based on the 6:03 time stamp of his tweet, I only had told her about it 18 minutes before-hand, so that was certainly a quick response by both!
    •   a correction was just issued

    • I did roll my eyes because I hate it when soaps refer to other soaps as soaps. I'd like to think that all soaps belong in the same universe. I hated when GL did it pertaining to Y&R during the Dolly clone story. I hated it today on BTG.  Plus, it was a stupid throwaway line that made no sense. OMG. The breakdown writer and script writer knew Tamara Tunie was Jessica on ATWT. What do they want for it? A cookie?
    • Eva just so happened to be at the casino the night of the accident? How convenient and this feels like something they just thought up when they should have established that she liked to gamble as a hobby at some point before last week   LOL at that ATWT reference. June had me going
