Jenkins won Season 1 of SOAPnet's I Wanna Be a Soap Star but got a snotty reception when he took his prize, a short-term cop role on General Hospital. "How I got the part made a lot of the cast unwilling to respect me," he says. What a crock, for anybody at GH to give him a hard time when the writing was horrid even then, and half its cast thrives on looks alone. He was a glorified day player at best!
December 5, 200718 yr Author Member His main handicap at B&B is that his character has nothing to do with fashion.
December 5, 200718 yr Member Don't worry, Mykel, you probably won't last too long on B&B either... thats messed up but unfortunetly so true. Its also real messed up that the cast didnt respect him bc of SOAPstar. How is that any different than what they did? SOAPstar was a long audition process. He had to work for it, probably more than some actors on GH
December 5, 200718 yr Author Member ^Exactly. That show is just a long audition, and more representative of what a soap actor will do in their career than the tired screen tests in any series of callbacks.
December 5, 200718 yr Member They should have kept him longer at Ugly Betty. But they did the "straight designer pretending to be gay" reveal too fast and he was gone.
December 5, 200718 yr Member When i met him both times he had an extreamly big ego. As if he was somebody big or something, and if he had that 'tude and walked into GH im sure he ddint get any respect.
